I could see that catching on
I didn’t notice a BPM change but I did notice the midi start to drift after three bars when I recorded it into Atom. But maybe it was my midi player?
Haha, good call!
How are you recording it into Atom?
I have musk midi player, its great. Stick it on a audio slot in AUM and then use midi destination inside Musk to send to anywhere open. I use Nanostudio and it creates a perfect midi loop. I too spent an absolute age switching from this to that and back again. Musk at £1.99 is the perfect solution.
Nice, but it isn't AU (yet), correct?
Anyone getting anything jazzy out of it?
Some jazzy chords or progressions, but not really in terms of swing, no. At least not so far, but I haven't generated that many motifs yet
Nope not AU yet.
On an interesting note copy the midi to Spliqs and then you can mutate the same motif in different styles and tempos, the only downside to this wonderful transformation is unfortunately no midi out which is a massive shame.
However you can share the midi with another app so I have discovered that this will open in Musk player and Musk player will work as an AU inside AUM which can then drive the synth of your choice.
This effeectively means you can mutate your motif with Bach, John Ledgend or any other included artist. Plus you can Tempo change though the tempo is colour graded and mood change also (unfortunately colour graded. You can also make change to the piece in dramatic content. Overall it is a wonderful transformation.
Can you explain what this means? Mutate with Bach? Sounds intriguing but I am trying to understand what it means. I don't have the app but it sounds fascinating
I think this is referring to the Spliqs app which is similar to Piano motifs and free to download.
Spliqs takes the original midi then transforms it with other composer styles it takes the original notes then transforms them into the style of.... which is what ever composer you choose from their content. Give it a whirl it is free from the app store.
Oh wow, sounds interesting, thnx
This looks very interesting and good value at the price. I would also like to see some more time signatures - 6/8 for a swing feel, 9/8 for a swing version of 3/4, also things like 5/4 and 7/8 would cool! The ability to set time sig and key, rather than them being random would also be good as an option. Although I think that you should be careful about cluttering things too much as the simplicity and random chance are part of the app’s appeal.
@david_2017, thanks for the support! Hope you enjoy the app.
@Fingolfinzzz, some chords come in the form of add7 and add9 which are used in jazz, but the melody algorithms don't yet have a jazz style.
Great things happening here. I can tell there’s an eagerness to make this a REALLY handy app. It exceeded expectations the day I bought it.
@PhilW, agree. The initial idea of the app was for it to be as simple as possible to generate music with it. That is why there is almost no control and the GUI is minimalistic. Adding the ability to control time signature, key, scale, octave range are being considered for future revisions.
Here is a track I have done based on a sequence generated with Piano Motifs. I have to say that it is a very inspirational app and I am happy I finally buy it
One of the reasons to have some control is if you want to generate several motifs that will fit together in a complete piece (I’m working on one now based on two generated sequences). Of course you can transpose if using the midi output, but it just makes things simpler to be able to have that control at source. Definitely an inspirational app though!
Coming soon to Piano Motifs 😀
@cuscolima, great work...dreamy, chill. Wonderful to see what a talented group of people can do with Piano Motifs!
Looks great!
Sweet...! I save like 8 out of ten riffs this thing creates. Great app, getting better.
A little piece that started as a couple of Piano Motifs creations, the midi imported into Cubasis where I arranged it into this - I hope you like it. The piano is from BS-16i (S900) and all the other instruments are native to Cubasis. I would never have come up with this on my own.
P.S. Sorry - I just realised it's got a huge "effects tail" - just stop it at the end!
Agreed!
Fantastic!
Aw yeah. Looks great!
Is there any possibility you could allow this to work on iOS 12? My iPad Air2 is on iOS 13 but my iPhone can't go past iOS 12 and I would love to have it on my phone. I understand if you can't because of technical limitations. I can beta test if you don't have any devices on 12. Great app!! Thanks
