  • Thx, but no AUv3 unfortunately 🥺

  • YouTube channel says “announcement coming soon” regarding possible migration of existing Bias FX IAPs.

  • Preorder, but no price specified for the preorder or any IAP. Anyone have an idea of the cost of the new app, and does it depend on previously owning BIAS FX or not?

Pricing info can be found here : https://www.positivegrid.com/bias-fx-mobile#specs
Apparently intro price for the elite pack is $69.99 instead of $99.99

    I will try this.
IAA is not a problem for me.
Only sound and playability matters to me.

  • It says it supports Korg Plugkey as an interface... am I missing something? What’s the point of an amp sim supporting an interface that doesn’t have an audio input?

Midi control maybe? I’m just guessing, not being snarky.

  • So the „more infos later regarding AUv3“ is actually... sorry no AU this time...?!??!

2020 Stop. No AU. Stop. IAA deprecated. Stop. WTF? Stop.
    Money saved. Stop. 👋

  • So grateful for Nembrini stepping in and loving guitarists

that's right, for me, but maybe it was understood 🤪, it was a game changer.

  • Did they implement MIDI clock or LINK? Tempo sync has never worked on Bias FX iOS.
Did they fix the hosting issue where it craps out and squeals? Doubt it...

Don't forget the reverb bug in Bias Amp 2 iOS...All issues reported more than year ago...no fixes.

Not bad on the feature set end but considering some dumb omissions in the previous products and their support team's less than helpful replies -- it leave me with no faith in their products.

  • I wonder if the lack of AU means this is aimed primarily at live use (ie replacing hardware pedals and amps), rather than recording?

Previous Positive Grid apps are so unreliable that I can’t imagine someone who trust them enough for a live performance. Not me.

Yep. I'm so happy we have suitable alternatives nowadays. I'm always tempted to forget my history with them when something new comes out but then I'm quickly reminded of crappy behavior and lack of bug fixing/customer support.

    Exactly this.

  • I will echo that sentiment that this is a major misstep not making this AU.

What is the advantage of AU in a guitar app?
Just the delays for example can get synced in the host? Other than that, it’s just recording audio to the host tracks no? So IAA is sufficient? Is IAA going away within a few years completely?

Just off the top of my head?

    • Automatic state saving, so that you don't have to save a preset with your current settings, make note of that preset and finally restore that preset every time you re-open a session or project.
    • (Generally) better stability. Though not always, depending on the developer.
    • Ability to have multiple instances (for instance for parallel or serial amping, or to amp more than one input or app. Not only guitarists use amp sims.
    • Some hosts no longer support IAA (Zenbeats and NanoStudio 2 for instance).
    • No "ghost" app issues. (IAA apps don't always release all resources when they're closed.)
    • More flexible control over parameters through AU automation.
    • Don't have to switch to a separate app + can see the amp in a window while still having access to other controls such as mixer channels, parameters, metronome, transport controls, etc.
    • IAA could go away any time. It's been depreciated for more than a year. Realistically? It could still work for an indefinite number of years, but Apple is unlikely to throw effort behind supporting a depreciated technology, so bugs, etc. are more and more likely with every OS update.
    • It shows remarkable shortsightedness to come out with a new app based around an already depreciated technology. That doesn't give me confidence in the developer. Would you buy a new computer that couldn't run the latest Windows or Mac operating system, even if it came pre-loaded with an older OS that works?

I could probably think of more. Sure, if you're just laying down guitar tracks straight to audio, maybe it's not important, but people do a lot more than just that with amp sims.

Oh wow! Thank you for the extensive list.

  • I have Bias FX2 Elite on my Mac. This is a great software and you can find a lot of great sounds within. I think it’s a fine news that desktop apps migrate to iOS. Just because due to such migration we could get a bunch of professional software for the modest money.

And I don’t think that AU is a problem. We all know that iOS devices are not as powerful as desktop computers. In this regard it’s more easier to create an AU app with only one amp (Nembrini) than apps with a lot of gears within (Bias, Amplitube, Tonestack).

But if you need an app with great sound and flexibility, I think Bias FX2 would be great choice. At least I hope that it will be a great app because desktop version is great!

  • No au seems crazy. I guess there are plenty of users happy without it but not me. Disappointed.

  • I like their designs And GUI but I have to confess i look most of the time on the guitar while playing 🙈

Oh and there was something about AU implementation of that new version

Thanks Sygma, for that price would have hoped for AU.

  • Anyone know when is the best time to get the lowest price on Bias FX2? Like what is the lowest price for the Elite or complete package. Thanks in advance.

Well the elite bundle is $39.00 us right now, down from $99.00. I really doubt if it’ll go lower than that so now might be the time to pull the trigger

However, it’s still pretty much the same app as it was 3 years ago. Disappointing that there have been no significant improvements (AUv3 would be nice, but they have been totally silent on that).

  • Honestly, given the options out there I don’t know why anyone would invest in Bias Fx.

I did as I rolled the dice when they had a really good sale, and thought that AUv3 would be forthcoming. I feel like I gambled and lost there.

You’re absolutely right though, there are definitely better apps out there that are great alternatives.

I downloaded the demo and to my ears it sounds amazing! Currently I'm using an FAS AX-8 as my main board for church worship team. Sounds amazing! But I want to build a hybrid backup setup. I plan to use my old favorite analog overdrives infront of an Xtone Pro by Xsonic.

So the Xtone would be the hub I\O to connect the analog drives to the iPhone/iPad. I already own the drives and effects of Overloud-THU and Nembrini though they also sound amazing, it's not as easy to setup for live use.
So far I'm testing all these setups but so far the demo of Bias FX2 is really nailing my tone. Actually, these Apps get me there, so the main thing is ease of use live now.

I remember last year I almost went for Bias FX2 but forgot how much the Elite version was costing during the Black Friday special.

I'm asking because right now I need to Save some more funds to get the Elite version as things are tight in retirement 😆.
