    Well said

Not to mention that it is yet again an attempt by this member, one of hundreds of such attempts here over the last few years, to stir up controversial topics which have absolutely nothing to do with making music on iOS.

Definitely a topic worth avoiding here anyway, especially from a conspiracy theory perspective.

Wow, Covid was one hell of a drug.

My workplace used to be a welcoming, friendly, helpful community before covid. Then everyone suddenly became mean, irrational, more incompetent, and either abusive or apathetic. It has been very disconcerting to see unfold.

I’m not sure that’s a universal experience though. I would say COVID had a positive impact on many people - just glad to be back among humanity, dress codes went out of the window, working from home became easier - I think people I work around came back from lockdown pretty energized and less stressed.

Speaking personally as an introvert, what has happened (in the UK at least) because of Covid has been nothing but positive for me. As it stands right now I am happier in my life than I have ever been and it is all due to the way the things changed as the lockdowns began. The only negative in my view is that for a short while the world - or the UK at least - became a cleaner, quieter, more tranquil place to be with people generally being evidently more polite and respectful to each other, but sadly it didn’t take long for all of that to go out the window once everything started to open up again.

    .

That and all the death and suffering.

Well, yes, and that of course.

But speaking just for me and my own life it’s turned out very, very positively and my life and general day-to-day is immeasurably better post covid than it was pre-covid. Ymmv.

    .

7 million people died. It’s perhaps just a tad insensitive to say it’s been a net plus for you ;).

I’m sure it was a different experience for every person, so each of us will have something different to say about it.

Again, probably a good subject to avoid in general, as we all know what is going to happen to the thread if it strays away from music too far.

Very true, unfortunately given excess death rates of non-covid deaths there’s something still occurring, that is being overlooked.

Something being overlooked such as the knock-on long-term effects of so many people having been infected with COVID (often multiple times) which increases risks of cardio-vascular and neurological issues?

When Seonn commented on this thread, he wasn't trying to start a covid discussion, he was either commenting on his own behaviour during that time, or on the behaviour of others, in regard to how they acted on this forum. This forum is for iOS music related topics, it's not for discussion related to politics, economics, government policy etc, especially when highly controversial. There are plenty of other places to discuss covid, govt policy in regard to it, and the like. This is not the place.

You post this knowing full well, my posts in the past contained sources of that information, from academic papers, pre-prints, statistics from governmental sources and so on.

That’s all I have to say regarding this matter in this thread.

  • I think there’s a very clear line here. Talking about how Covid affected us as people, as musicians, as producers is definitely appropriate. That’s actually a way in which a forum like this can do a huge amount of good. Anything beyond that - the political side of it, the conspiracies - all that stuff - is obviously not appropriate here. As adults we should not require anyone to have to draw that line for us. The very thing that unites us here is music. Everything else should be left at the door. Politics, religion, conspiracies, gender, sexuality…. Save that shit for Facebook.

Not Facebook! 😂 (It's the only social media platform I barely bother to use.) Save it for Twitter/X or some other platform I signed up to but can't be f-cked with. 🤣

Yeah, I hope that’s the end of it now. Non-music stuff is bad enough, but when it extends to conspiracy theories it pretty much kills any thread.

Yes! Although I would prefer they keep the conspiracy crap off Facebook, too. So many people live in fear and they let that fear drive them to embrace wild ideas -- hoping to be part of the "I'm special - I know things most people don't know" group.

In an ideal world, social media would be free from politics, period. I get enough of that "vote for this person" and "that candidate is a crook" rubbish in text format from volunteer busybodies with nothing better to do than harass people over the phone unsolicited. 😂

I have had intentions of keeping up with jabs, but I haven’t in two or three years.
For no other reason than that I sometimes have a bit of a struggle with executive functioning skills, and maybe a touch of complacency. I use to follow guide lines. Since it’s been considered endemic, I decided to wing it without the jabs or masks. If I manage remembering to pay the mortgage, other bills, take out the recycling, the trash, play with my son and dabble with music, then I’ve had a good week/month. Fortunately we haven’t gotten sicker than usual. I always average one sinus infection a year. My wife, bronchial stuff once or twice. We haven’t always home tested every single time someone has been sick for Covid, so I can’t say for sure if we’ve had it. I still see some people wearing masks, not many (outer Philadelphia region, U.S.)

  • You know what i love? Synths. So much so that my daughter lovingly makes fun of me nearly everyday. 😂
Two days ago I "discovered" Agonizer. What a beaut. I bought it, refunded it, re-bought it, and shelved it for over a year, and two days ago fell in love.

It's always exciting to me when an ios musician are more into traditional instruments. I'm a violinist primarily myself, but I'm still working on integrating violin into my ios compositions. The platform seems to really lend itself to working in the box in my opinion which isn't a problem for me since synths are awesome.

    What do you play?

I play a bunch of different instruments and sometimes don’t play them in months or years then go back to them. Piano mostly, but I play a few other instruments pretty well too.

My iPad mostly gets used to as a source of keyboard sounds (electric piano, organ, etc.) or for creating backing to jam with.

I LOVE Agonizer…. I held off a long time thinking it was “just” a bass synthesizer due to how it was marketed, but no…it’s exceptional for experimental music especially for patch designers

Perhaps not In terms of social distancing etc, however I myself have still been getting Covid Vaccinations roughly every 6 months, in a similar fashion to the yearly Flu vaccine as have many of my friends for various reasons which are mainly health or work related.
At the last count I’ve had a total of 8 injections with zero ill effects and nor has anyone I know or anyone who my friends know.
Now I’m not denying that there will have been some adverse reactions as with all medication but based on the billions of doses given world wide it’s statistically a safe medicine.

I bought Agonizer, never refunded it, but it's been shelved since the day I bought it, lol. Maybe in a couple days, who knows? Meanwhile I'm finishing up my album to be released hopefully 31 August.
