Well, I got similar responses on this forum when I projected midi as a feature in IAA.
There is something truly odd about just how out of touch some on this forum are about the barebone necessities of music production.
On the other hand, maybe mobile DAWs are the only they've ever had experience with. That would make sense at least.
When did anyone say that midi wasn't necessary to music production or that it wasn't an important add on for Auria?
To be 100% honest people who record live, singing and guitar don't need it. Us, the electronic music people need it to generate a good flow and see it as top mission. Some may want other stuff first. Different people with different needs and it's ok... Well it's ok since we know midi is coming ;-)
Sweeeet! Awesome news.
It sure would be great to see a full on half price sale for the app and IAP's... I'd go hog wild and buy the lot.

Auria. Good multitracker, not an awesome writing tool (for me). Kind of like early ProTools LE. Good plugins, solid recording capabilities but really designed to record, not create. Not that you can't! Just doesn't... I don't know... feel whatever 'musical' means to me. It's definitely come strides since it's release.
@chrisg I'm all for IAP. Just pointing out that 'new app' as an upgrade path isn't really a possibility for Rim. Well it is but I don't t think he'd do that.
And the mixer... I think it has to do with me trying to find the right musical place for auria in my work. It has great plugins, a great basic channel strip but after years of mixing on desktop daws (cakewalk->pro tools -> reaper -> logic) some thing that are simple in desktop land are just frustrating in Auria.

^^^that stuff.
And for my own mixing style, parallel busing is really handy.
Don't take me too literally here. Auria is a great product and a great deal at $50. Just not all I wish/want it to be. Not tried cubasis it meteor but I'm guessing there's nothing even close to it for mixing on the iPad.

Auria is a multitrack recorder, not a sequencer. For many tasks this is all that is needed. Meaning, for live multitrack recordings with professional setup and lots of microphones, real musicians, and for overdub recording sessions. With MTC, Auria has become even more useful, as you can synchronise Auria with a computer-based DAW.
With MIDI tracks it will become something that we know from computer-based DAW's. This is what you are trying to say. But 'barebone necessities' do not necessarily mean MIDI recording.
@phil999 100%
Although I can't wait for midi in Auria, I often make music that doesn't require midi. Some of the best music people ever produced doesn't have a single midi note in sight. Barebones necessity, not..
Certainly everything before 1982, that's for sure...
I just use it to control my basement lighting when I play.
It's out. $39.99 for the Pro-MB, same price as the Pro-L. Well, I've used up my self imposed monthly AppStore cash limit for this month. Post some impressions anyone who gets it. It does look pretty amazing!
Bah this thread got confusing...I was thinking this would be the "big update" with MIDI that certain folks in this thread were so insistent about.
Guess my bank account is safe to fight another day!

I think it's great, but like all multi band compression the results can be subtle to disastrous. I mostly use one band just to fix problems, or to adjust the stereo width on the low-end. I use it twice as much for expansion as for compression typically.
Thanks Tarekith.
This one is way overkill for anything I do, and I don't have the right equipment to fully appreciate it at all (or any of the FabFilter plugs for that matter). But, I'll definitely get it when my "appoholic"-economy allows it. I see it as a learning experience, I've got no experience with MB compressor to speak of. And secondly the iOS versions are very affordable compared to the desktop prices, which allows me to check out these awesome/powerful plugs! Hopefully one day I'll get to spend more time on music and take it all up a few notches (and get some proper equipment, again). Auria, and iOS in general, is slowly reeling me back to actually at least try to make music again, and not just fiddle around with whatever is the latest and greatest a bit, only to get back on the waiting train for the next app to mess around with.
Oh and it has pretty colors, so there's that too.
Ummm, so that was the BIG update?! Really?! What a let down.
No, that was the one before the big update. Or possibly the first of several...
Anyone here have some stuttering problems with Final Touch in AudioBus with Auria in input??
I had a issue with Final Touch stuttering and white noise after switching it from IAA slot in Auria to using it in AB. I had to change the presets to make it work again.
The very first post in this thread states exactly what was going to be in this update.
This was never supposed to be the "big update", but a quick interim one to fix issues introduced by iOS 7.1, and a few side issues.
My theory about this forum gets more proof, within the same thread!
My theory about you needs no further proof...

Via Audiobus? I know that the graphics in the EQ and compressor window slows the whole app down to a crawl when used as IAA in Auria.
Edit:
Audioshare as input, Final Touch as effect, and Auria as output worked just fine in Audiobus.

Heh, sorry, I was just being facetious... Which apparently does not carry over text.
@ChrisG on my iPad 4 as IAA don't works
@Sinapsya said:
The IAA name is "mastering" not "final touch". Or did you mean that it doesn't work at all on iPad 4 when loaded as IAA?
@OmnilimbO said:
Don't joke with Auria ;-)
@PaulB said:
Likewise.

Granted, I was only using one stereo track in Auria: final Touch (yes, inconveniently called Mastering in the IAA list in Auria) works great. Used a few plugs/fx in addition, including Stereo Designer, Various reverbs (ended up liking what I was getting from AudioReverb best) and AUFX Peak, and it crashed once while trying to add plugs while playing and manipulate stereo designer, but overall, perfectly pleased so far. (Famous last words...)
I'm using an iPad Air with 7.1, the latest Auria update. The session is 24/96.
