I have a 76 keys XP-80 for 22 years. It has the same synth engine as the jv-1080. I’m still in love with it. This is my master keyboard for the ipad, but I use its sounds as well. I have over 30 different synths on my iPad, but none of them could replace my xp80.
I also have the 60s & 70s Keyboards expansion board (SR-JV80-08) installed. It’s electric piano and hammond organ sounds are amazing.

+1. Still own it. Soldering job ahead to keep the SR-JV expansions fit for the future.
60/70s keys, Bass&Drums, Session, Pop - lots of very usable sounds plus a quality sequencer and a very, very good keyboard action.
I'm lucky to have the red-glued key weights without any life-threatening signs ahead...
( @Lady_App_titude can tell you a different story!)

It was my main composition workstation until Gadget arrived.

  • I have a Roland D2 which is more a ( Orange) groovebox take on the jv1080 sounds.
It also functions as a 8 part multi timbral sound module.
Just another option to look at, and, hey, who can resist that D field Controller.
Did I mention that its orange??

  • I ended up buying a JV 2080. It's awesome and sounds fantastic.
    Thanks for your help guys.

  • Win! Congrats @cyberheater

    :+1:
I also have a different story of red-glue, but fortunately it's the past. I disassembled the keyboard put the keys for into a pot full of degreaser solution for a day, all the weights have fallen out. Cleaned all the 76 keys, weights and glued them back. :cold_sweat:
It was 5 years ago, no problem since then.

I wanted to buy further expansion boards a few months ago (e.g. Vintage Synths and Bass&Drums), but prices gone insane on eBay :disappointed:

  • I had vintage synths, bass and drum and String Ensemble as separate standalone Romplers.

I think I still have them somewhere...

👍🏼 Worth the effort I think!

Considering that for the price of one second hand expansion you can get a nice small second hand laptop with a small SSD drive (booting up quickly and auto-starting the sofware), I would recommend checking out the Roland Cloud products:
    https://www.rolandcloud.com/roland-account/memberships/

You can demo their products for 30 days before purchasing and they have monthly, yearly and lifetime licenses available. One out of ten available SRX title lifetime license costs $69, probably not such a bad deal, considering that "SRX Keyboards" contains most of the sounds from these SR-JV80 expansions:
    SR-JV80-04 “Vintage Synth"
    SR-JV80-08 “Keyboards of the ‘60s & ‘70s”
    SR-JV80-10 “Bass & Drums”
plus selected waves from SR-JV80-09 “Session” and SR-JV80-03 “Piano.”
