Apologies if already mentioned - I missed it here.
Sure does look interesting. Anyone try it yet? The price seems right ...
No but watching what comments come on here thou.
They seem to only have 1 video, would like to see the modular bits being set up with Ableton etc
What other desktop software is required, studiimux was always a bit flakey on that
I sprung for it, and will have a play later and report back. Bluetooth is definitely supported.
Just read this in the comments on youtube, when asked to compare this app the the Logic Remote app the dev said ...
"Hi Marcus. Main difference is that it emulates 1:1 the Mackie Control surface, so it is compatible with any DAW that supports it. Mackie Control support gives you many more functionalities than Logic Remote. Other than this, you can create custom controllers for your favorite apps and plugins, like Kontakt, Arturia, u-he, etc. Best."
This could be very handy for plugins if you were to take the time to get into the custom side of things. Hmmm....
That does indeed look interesting. The wi-fi is dead on my Mac so bluetooth would help a lot. I'm happy to give it a go at 6.99, could be really useful for video editing software too. I'm assuming it doesn't need host software? That will also simplify things for me from previous apps (Pro tools control, ney-fi V-control, lemur, conductor, touchable and probably others). Will also report back.
very interesting. this would be pretty useful for Cubase.
Really impressed so far. Stable connection via WiFi, cable or Bluetooth. With the customisation abilities, it’s feeling like Logic Remote + Lemur.
Certainly cheaper than many other options.
I’d like the track numbers to be updated when scrolling past 8 - bit of a PITA to see where I am in a 48 track Logic project, as only 8 faders show at once. Perhaps I can customise a template with more tracks for larger projects. Also having trouble connecting to Studio One, but that’s almost certainly user error. Will continue playing. Not regretting £6.99 so far.
Hmm. Solo button not always illuminating with big Logic project, and bank switching produces random drum sounds. Using the prefab Logic template.
How does it compare to the Logic Remote?
After a quick play controlling Cubase Elements this is looking good, the windows version just has network connection but the responsiveness is fine, I’m quite close to the router which helps.
No lengthy setup process either, just connected Rtpmidi, added Mackie Control in Cubase and its working.
I have Steinbergs own Cubase controller for iOS, there's no need for rtpmidi with that one if I remember correctly, you can make your own shortcuts and so on, it also shows an overview of the project window. But! It doesn't support multi-touch, i.e you can only move 1 fader at a time, it doesn't allow you to create CC templates for other plugins either. Does this do multi-touch on Windows 10/Cubase Pro? @GrimLucky
Quick test, works with many functions (faders, pan, mute/solo and function buttons) as Mackie control in Bitwig, but it seems no 2-way feedback on the mixer faders - there is feedback on the transport though. Also works as Mackie control in Adobe Premiere Pro. Both over bluetooth midi. Promising start for me, will test further.
Multi-touch works ok, I can move multiple faders and scrub transport at the same time, haven’t tried Steinbergs controller for Cubase but I think this one should do everything I need.
Cheers! All I needed to know.
I bit. Price is too good to pass up on the Launchpad X clone if it works as advertised. I don’t get multi touch faders on my 6th gen iPad though. One finger at a time only.
Quite intrigued by the possibility of use in premiere as well as the audio gear, are there any other video/graphics apps that’ll work with it?
Hi everybody. Michele here from ONE Instrument, the developer of the app. Feel free to ask. Please also consider the new community and support sections in our website.
This usually happens when Logic has more than one Mackie Control configured or there is some sort of conflict in the port configuration. The fact that drums are triggered pressing some buttons, means that Logic is not taking exclusivity of the control surface. Please take a look at this page. Hope it helps.
We’re testing Bitwig compatibility for the upcoming update, that will contain, among many other things, specific templates for Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
Hi @Michelelonghi
Im intrigued by the premiere remote thing, how soon might it drop / how long is the intro pricing lasting as it’d be good to see that...
Thanks for asking here
New version will be up in a week or so. It will end the introductory price, rising to $9.99.
Bear in mind that you can use Premiere with the current version, using the generic MCU template. The specialized template will just update buttons labels and colors in conformance with the custom behavior of Premiere.
Ah thanks, good to know, thought it might be more specific video stuff
@Michelelonghi
Really good app. Congratulations. Connectivity is straightforward and elegant, that first step is so important.
My desire would be to have a template (Mackie) without the scroll wheel. My use is for mixer faders, solos and mutes. The wheel takes up a lot of screen space, personally it’s something I never use (in both video and music software). Is that a possibility? Great work anyway though, thank you.
Thanks @steve99. We're working on alternate layouts for Mackie Controller. The best way to request features is through our forum. Thanks again.
Cool app! And glad to support another Italian programmer! Grande Michele!
@Michelelonghi Could you possibly support iOS 12?
Or does the app need a lot of CPU power so it's restricted to later models?
Thanks!
