  • A sound font editor.

  • @syrupcore I wasn't going to tell yet, but since you mention it: I'm working on an AB2 mixer and 2-track recorder just like you describe!

So, please other devs, pick another idea ;)

I'm thinking of a proper MultiFX unit something like an FX-Only version of Magellan.

If anyone remembers the Ensoniq DP4 and Yamaha SPX900.
iOS version of those FX-boxes would be nice too.

And while we're at it i really hope Korg someday ports both the M1 and WaveStation to iOS for some truly classic sounds, same goes for Roland and their D-50 :)

I'd love an iOS version of the DP4.

  • A keygroupable sampler. Like an AKai s1000/ 3000. Or Kontakt (might be asking a bit too much).
I have to use the sampler in Sunvox.

  • @j_liljedhal Awesome, thank you! I can't wait, love your work!

Huzzah! That's wonderful news. Two questions:

    Need my testflight account? :)

Care to divulge how it will integrate with AudioShare?

+1. I'd love something like the DP4 or the Digitech studio quad II. If it had multiple i/o points like the hardware we can use it with AB Multiroute or the maybe new kymatica mixer. :)

What about the 80s Eventide Harmonizer boxes? Surely the processor in an iPad2 smokes whatever was in those things.

  • @syrupcore: Are you not already one of my testers? :) Yeah, I want it to integrate as seamless as possible with AudioShare, of course.

  • @j_liljedahl Maybe sometime in the future.... a compressor and a noise gate for the AUFX series? ;)

  • It would be neat of someone could develop a quality orchestral synth; sort of on the lines of Synful.com.
    http://www.synful.com/SynfulOrchestra.htm

The website descibes the software as being really efficient:

"The recorded phrases in the RPM phrase database are stored in additive synthesis format not as PCM sampled wave files. This method of storing instrumental sounds is much more compact then traditional PCM. The entire Synful Orchestra fits in just 32M of memory and loads in seconds. Because of its compact size Synful Orchestra has no need for disk streaming and does not require a computer with a state of the art high-speed disk system. Synful Orchestra runs great on ordinary desktop and notebook computers."

I wonder if the iPad, especially any new models have the horsepower to run something like Synful if they decided to port it over to the iPad? The entire Synful Orchestra fits in just 32M of memory and loads in seconds.

The quality and realism are incredible; take a listen:

    YES!!!
Please give them a Midi Trigger Source!

Imini would be better if it had selectable midi channel

I just realized this wasn't in iMini, so I'll backport it from iProphet right now.

Impc would be better if it had a sample editor

Did you mean iMPC or iMPC Pro?

Tabletop would be better if it wasn't for retronyms.

    We're trying, I promise!

  • @mana

You've got a bit of a classic corporate identity problem here it would seem, but these get fixed -as you know- by a demonstrable sincerity to make the effort. While 'actions speak louder than words' is certainly true, it's also true that simple visibility is a large part of getting there from here. Taking on the brickbats head-on is the only way to go and you seem to be willing to do that. Well done.

    What @JohnnyGoodyear said.

@mana Honestly man, I cut myself off from synth apps again and have been successfully resisting iProphet. Going to go buy it right now because you made it and your posts here have made it seem to me that you having good numbers at work is very likely in the rest of our self serving best interest. :)

and +10 at "I'll back port it from iProphet right now". Thank you.

@mana. Selectable midi channel in iMini would be really, really great (for lots of reasons).

One of my favourite synths and this is one of the main problems I have with it.

    Thanks!

  • Agreed ^ @mana Retronyms employee of the month!

    Hello Mana,
How would i go about using the line in feature to sample from my external gear in impc pro? It was the main reason for my getting impc pro but have not been able to record samples from line in so far and no one else seems to have any clue as too how it works?

  • ^ and zero crossing? And decent export options?

Was just thinking about this kind of app this morning! Something kontakt-like would be fantastic.

  • And my car needs a wash as well.

    Too much? Ah....OK.

    :)

  • it is a travesty that the first and most important synthesizers from Buchla- and the whole west coast serge/buchla modular paradigm - is mostly ignored- we need synths like Aalto in IOS!

There's probably an app for that !! But no serious sampler Apps.. Full version of Kontakt would be great but might be asking a bit too much from an iPad, although i'd quite happily pay too much for that.

I would have made an Akai s3000 a year ago if i had the time and money.. Actually i still don't have the time and money So please dev's :)

  • Gotta chime in with others. Imini deserves that feature. Also with all of the effort that goes into programming I think it is only fair that it gets a proper use which at the moment it doesn't. The only time I use it is to sample arpeggio loops which is quite a travesty.

Exactly what he said! I'll be buying mostly as a result of your engagement :) thank you.

Since I'm such a sucker for synths, I hope Arturia continues to port its vintage synth replicas to iOS. The Jupiter-8 and the CS-80 come to mind. But they're not what you'd call "needed".

And I'd love Figure to be compatible with Thor patches.

I looked around iMPC Pro (I wasn't on the project) but I couldn't find out how to do it either. I'll ask my coworkers who did work on it and hopefully have a good answer for you.

Regarding zero crossing, I'd email AKAI and our support about it. Could you clarify what export options you want? Because you ARE able to export to WAV.

EDIT: I appreciate the support, same for Retronyms of course. @JohnnyGoodyear: I don't know what you mean by classic corporate identity problem. Sure, I'm posting as an employee of Retronyms (and myself, don't forget) but they aren't mandating me to do anything.

EDIT 2: I really didn't mean to derail the thread...so I'll add that I'm much more of a desktop producer, and I would love if Synth1 made it onto iPhone/iPad.

I would love to see a Korg Karma type intelligent arpeggiator / arranger on IOS.Mabe Korg could add it to Gadget....now that would be an awesome combination!

Yeah!!! Exactly what i was thinking. I would love to have an Arranger Type app that you can have up to eight instruments playing. Like a one man band type of thing. Drums, bass, keys, and other background instruments, in real time while you change chords. I would buy that immediately. I think it is really possible now as they ipad is faster and has more horsepower. Korg, are you listening? It would really help make songs on the go so much faster.

  • Funny you should mention that. Karma software is what I am trying to record through line in to impc pro with no luck so far. But I am having a great time using it with ielectribe and drumjam ect. Thanks Mana for anything you might be able to do or at least for trying.

Ielectribe is working great through audiobus along with Karma and I am recording it to Cubasis. Fun Stuff indeed!!
