Thanks @espiegel123, didn't know about this one!

I just found it myself...and it runs on my ancient iPhone4s

Extending the idea of a virtual launchpad.. I now have a template that mimics Ableton/Push and includes 7 tracks with 7 Atoms each.

You can launch scenes, and the patterns choke as you would expect.

This will be given out free for everyone when Atom2 launches.

    That's an excellent idea @tk32!

Agreed! I’m currently trying to find the best substitute ‘launchpad’ that I can use on my iPhone to control atom 2 on iPad. Looks like chordpolypad might be a good answer.

Although will probs just buy a proper launchpad at some point

Don't overlook the free app "manypads"

    Awesome! Thanks

  • Same dev also has manyfaders, manyknobs and manytoggles.

  • Can't search individual threads, at least as far as I can tell... ETA for a release on this?

Looks promising! The ChordPolyPad scenario shown here is certainly also possible with Tonality‘s very powerful AU Chord Pad module. It may not look as elegant but it also offers grids up to 12x12 customizable color coded pads and the advantage of connecting to patchstorage for easy exchange of many future templates to come.

I also kind of want to point out that this requirement is temporary – using other AUs for controlling all of the Atoms is a nice demonstration of just some of Atom's modularity. While I anticipate many will prefer taking the modular approach to an extreme, "modular" shouldn't be an used as an excuse for "inconvenient" or "complex": it defers some of the work I have to do in the short term, so that I can focus on making sure every feature is super tight at release. I'd like to build a "master Atom hub" that looks like Ableton's Session view, fairly soon after release.

    pure bliss!

No ETA yet, but the beta is going extremely well and the developer has already said he is hoping to finish this year.

    Hope this helps :)

    Confirming this.

I'm also working with Jonatan to add even deeper integration between Atom and AUM (like automatically figuring out which track and slot an instance is in AUM, so it shows up on the proper pad on Launchpads without any additional user setup). We're figuring out a bunch of new standards for how hosts can communicate with AUs, that every other developer can adopt.

We've also found a few timing accuracy issues that seemingly come from Ableton Link, and only happen on certain devices. So I'm adding simple drift and latency compensation logic into Atom, while both of us are trying to see how we can improve accuracy even more.

  • Cool beans
    Take ya time
Get it right the first time
    Good luck
    Stay safe

    This.

(Even though I check this thread about 100 times an hour for a glimmer of hope that it’s going to be released!!)

Me too. I get that not every dev wants to have this kind of regular interaction with their adoring public but it builds interest. I just wish someone would change the thread title to Atom Piano Roll updates.

  • Likewise @reasOne
    My comment was nice
    Just like yours

    Was just sending good vibes

I certainly was having a moan at you , as you have been helpful often over the years
@gregsmith i wasn’t trying to start an argument with you either

My comment was agreeing with your sentiment, then remarking on my own weakness of not being able to contain my own childlike excitement about this app. Very far from moaning 😉

  • Great let’s move on
And get back to be excited about this app
With the AUM big boy on board this can’t fail

@blueveek any chance I could get into the beta ? Im pretty good at finding bugs by trying out unnecessarily complex midi experiments. @ExAsperis99 and some of the others can vouch for me. I'm already a tester for AUM so I should be able to help test your integration stuff too. I own a launchpad Pro (v1) and an X if that helps :)

    DM'd.

However, I'll say this bit publicly if anyone else is interested: I'm not looking to expand the beta testers team right at this moment, but that's not to say it's fixed in stone forever. Let's talk again after release when it comes to new features or improving specific types of workflows.

  • Does anyone have any experience of gridinstrument? Wondering if it’s be a good launchpad equivalent for using with atom 2

Can you reformulate the question? I think I understand but I’m not quite sure.

  • Launchpad's are all currently 25% off for Black Friday week

    Just sayin'...

Sorry, this was a follow up to the previous discussion where I was talking about using a launchpad style app on iPhone to control atom on an iPad, so I don’t have to shell out for an actual launchpad.
