I have serious problems with it. But I am totally fine with that... I am happy the app is not dead but taken care of

    Same

    Stoked that this is alive.

However, I can’t seem to access all of the GUI on an Air 2?

Same here on iPad Pro 11”

So happy for this update - have been sampling it for use in other AUv3’s, very happy I can use it (simply) straight in sessions :)

How? All I get is weird noise out if this thing.

I’m having issues as well. Bought the “Wavetable Creator” IAP and when I touch certain elements in this part it crashes. Every time. Hosting in AUM.

Hopefully, you have reported the problems to the developer so that he can fix them.

Just received email from dev: [email protected]
funny... seems not to know what errors we are talking about here.
.. ah well, we just have to resend more mails , include ipad model, ios version, screenshots etc, so he can sort it

  • Yeah I just got a nice response too , looking forward to this one working out :)

  • I got a very friendly email from Jarryd as well. Fingers crossed.

  • it works for me i made a track with it but def isn’t flawless , i love the randomize

  • @Philandering_Bastard in AUM you can slide the window up and manually fix the size. Not apeMatrix.

The tempo box in the upper right is behaving like a roach motel for the cursor.

I know but on my Air 2 the last block (performance controls) remains invisible (and I lose access to the keyboard). Jarryd seems like a nice guy so hopefully this gets ironed out. Probably a good idea to do some beta testing before the next release, people get rightfully frustrated.

  • Sampling it’s presets in to chameleon,deep sound indeed👾

using auto sample , i’m really loving that new feature

  • Loads into Zenbeats now but doesn’t appear to recognize note off. Good for drones I suppose. Dev notified.

  • Stand alone works, so does scrolling. Much better. Not sure how I feel about dropping another £10 on the new IAP. Some audio demo at least would be nice.

  • I agree. It’s too out there for me to spend more on without a demo to listen to.

I flicked through a few of the presets / wave tables, everything sounds the same is this a bug or might there be something I am doing wrong. Haven't looked at any manual etc, wouldn't normally need one to browse a few synth presets 😂

  • Exactly the same or ‘same-ish’? They definitely sound same-ish to me. But they aren’t identical.

  • Didn't listen closely, I just thought, there's definitely something badly wrong here

  • When I used it as standalone the patches did not sound the same but now, as auv3, they sound all the same.

    Also the volume is lower.

I have all the IAP but messing around with different wavetables seem to produce the same exact sound.

In the Auv3 it also seems to me that turning the knobs and setting the parameters do nothing.

Am I crazy or I become def?

@Charlesalbert have you tried to enable/disable the reverb? seems to be stuck @ 100% wet when switching waveforms/presets...

anyway, this app is wierd in a good every way

  • edited August 2020

Haha, no note off, low-pass filter still doesn't work. But certainly, we've got time to add more IAP.

  • It works fine here, the patches do not all sound the same to me, some are similar sounding perhaps... The controls all seem to do what they are supposed to do. I did have a crash during 20 minutes of fooling around, which was much better than when it was used as AUv3 before the latest upgrade. I did not try AUv3 with the upgrade though.

Stand-alone mode on iPad Pro gen. 1, 13.5 iOS.

  • I’m getting different sounds now. It sometimes didn’t open for me as a standalone, seems not very stable, just crashed constantly, but now is opening fine. Some pretty interesting sounds here, definitely intriguing. @noob I don’t see a level control for the reverb. Just aa button to turn it on/off.

  • Update fixed all the issues I was having in AUM. Many thanks

still a lot of crashes in AUM.

    "Audio Unit plugin invalidated."

Make sure to report them to the dev. Historically, he does a pretty good job of fixing bugs if reported when a release comes out. He seems not to test exhaustively before releases but does address things that people report to him.

I don’t think he frequents AB forum.

  • 9 out of 10 crash waveterm/generator/editor

  • I sent a video to him over the weekend, I’ll probably send more when I get a chance, he was very grateful for the input...

Same here. It either doesn't work or, er, it's not for me. I bought the bloody wave tables, too, but they all sound basically identical 😂

  • I am waiting to download the update till people report that it is stable, but I won’t to mention something in the meantime about Scythe that can be overlooked at first glance.

The presets are pretty “samey” and explore a fairly limited sonic territory that under represents what the synth can do. They seem to represent the sonic interests of the dev, but it is not restricted to the glitch/horror/sci-fi sounds represented by the presets. The old version
was not intended to be a standard wavetable synth. If that is what one is looking for this might not be the right beast for you.

Importing short sounds and converting to wavetables will allow you to create a much wider range of sounds than the presets and preset IAPs allow.

Here are a couple of Scythe only tracks:

Three tracks (all Scythe custom wavetables - the bass line probably can’t be hard on an iPad’s built-in speakers)

Single track with wavetable created from a vocal sample
