Chord Bud 2 Out Now

  • If I could do that I wouldn't bother with toying with functionality in iOS apps ^^

  • Can I use chordbud 2 as a sequencer and have Rhythmbud manipulate the instances played by Chordbud, like they will both be relating to the same instance of a instrument?
If that's possible Can I use the same Midi CC to move to the next pattern on both apps simultaneously? Or would you do it another way?
I'm watching this nice vid by Gavinsky but I can't quite make it out

If I understand you correctly yes. Cem does it in one of his videos. However I’ve been having trouble switching patterns with CC on the bud apps and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I thought I did it before but can’t remember. I use CC a lot. I’ve been Recordingmidi into atom/atom 2 as a workaround but I’m desperately trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. CB 2 Is connected to step bud, via midi cc setup in AUM, (not midi note setup) step bud is sending cc on Midi ch 1, cc#10, some steps in stepbud on 0, some on 1 just like Cem does in his YouTube video to change from pattern 1, then pattern 2 after 4 bars each. But mine will not switch patterns. Is it something in settings? I tried various values in stepbud, most things I could think of. I feel like I did it really early on, but I’ve given up every time since. I’m hoping someone could please chime in with any suggestions on why I can’t get the patterns to change with CC. It’s probably user error so any ideas are welcome.

  • Is there any way to preview a chord in this app? I can't find it, but I assume it's there somewhere.

Change from the pencil Icon to the Note one beside it

I'm actually guessing based on screenshots. I have CB1, not 2. Didn't get the second one since I was bummed out with some issues in the first one. But it seems the second one is pretty solid

  • Oh... and be sure to be routing to an app that makes noise

I don't appear to have those icons :-(

ChordBud 2 had no tie or rest function 🤷‍♂️ Nor is it able to hold chords longer than 1/8 & 1/16. Has anyone else found this a limitation?

On the actual timeline You can pull the side of the chord block with a long press on the outside side line to extend or shorten it. You can drag it out up to 16 bars I think is the max. If you touch and hold blue chord box in the middle you can move the entire chord. Also long press on chord, and a delete button pops up. Hope this helps.

    @AppJunky

Actually there is no max, just pulled out a 24 bar chord. However after a handful of bars you have to press the timeline to scroll it a little further, then drag the chord side out a bar or two, then extend timeline then back to chord, repeat 🔁 . It can be tedious going over 16 bars. I guess you can make it as long as you feel like repeating that process.

I ran some tests real quick to be sure. You can even two finger pinch and expand if you do it on an empty part of the timeline, not where a chord is…or across the bar the has the actual beat numbers for the timeline. This allows you zoom in and zoom out. Zoom in to view 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64 for each bar or zoom out to see 1/1 one chord per bar, with over 20 whole bars on screen. Use that same skinny bar with the numbers indicating the beats to scroll left and right when you have a long piece. Cheers!

One CMaj Chord over 24 bars. Timeline zoomed out by using 2 finger touch and expand, along the skinny bar that has the numbers for the timeline.

Long CMajor Chord, timeline zoomed in to see 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.13, etc… Two finger touch and pinch to zoom in to really short quantization.

I think the level you are zoomed in at dictates how long a chord will be when you tap on the scale menu to add it. At least to a certain extent.

That is great new. Thank you @cem_olcay ! Merry Christmas to you.

  • Hi,
Can you help me how to fix end marker? When i move the last chord to left the end marker automatically snap to the endpoint of the replaced chord.
Is it not implemented to place a fixed endpoint? Also the same trouble with the RhythmBUD.

  • ...and it hasn't got a preview when you hit the chord from the chord table?

  • Hello ppl who still use ChordBud2

Anyone know how to set up the Pattern Changes in some MIDI Controller? I'm really dumb in this MIDI world and CCs messages and stuffs.

I want to change patterns with some buttons from Korg Nanocontrol. Button for Pattrn1, other for 2, and so on.

Sure - here’s an example in AUM with Surface Builder routed MIDI output to ChordBud 2 and sending data on CC10.
The stepper will send the value and that pattern number is opened. You just need to route the Korg to the app inside whatever host you are using (AUM, Cubasis, EG Nodes, etc.).
