Thank you Cem for the big update you just released! Thanks for listening to us and being so fast in fixing and adding fonctionalities. It s an amazing app that boost the composition workflow very much.

A patterns chain fonctionality would be amazing. Or a song mode.
    We always want some more😜

This and stepbud both have cc pattern change, so there kind of already is a song mode.

  • There are known saving issues with AUM and iOS 14, I believe. This may not be a ChordBud 2 issue.

I’m pretty sure Cem expects you to use StepBud to sequence ChordBud. Just set it to send cc 10 (or whatever you configure chordbud to listen for) with the pattern number as the cc value.

  • Thank you guys for the advices,
I didn t know the "bud's" apps had cc pattern changes. That's great!

  • Yeah, I think it's important for folks to remember that these are supposed to used as a suite. This next sentence is not directed at anyone in particular, it's just a general statement: if one bud app has a useful function, don't expect it to always be replicated. These kind of midi apps are very niche, not much money for the devs doing these things, so Cem definitely can't make his previous buds redundant every time he comes up with a new one.

  • Since today's update Chordbud2's Undo-button has disappeared! That must be a mistake...

  • I just updated, it’s there - bottom right! If yours looks different, maybe try a fresh install
    @Harro

  • Yes, tried that, but there's no Undo (in standalone or AU). Strange. Maybe an IOS 14 thing.

  • Ah, if u r on ios14, anything is possible. I checked this on my non iOS14 one, will maybe check on iOS 14 one later

The new update is released! BTW do have any suggestions for the new chord modes? I'd like to add a couple more

  • Thanks for updating Cem. Just realized I didn’t post a link to the vid I did here, let me remedy that:

Do you mean types of chords, or something else?

What would be really cool was a way to voice chords. Not just changing the root, but also being able to do open and closed voicings. Stuff like A c chord, but it's going to be C2, G4, E5 C6, or whatever.

Not sure if chordbud, or arpbud, would be the best place, but it would be cool.

Yeah, I meant new chord types.

  • Hi guys,
I still have random chords skipping with Chordbuds2 with last update and IpadOS14. Is anyone else experimenting that?

  • I've experienced it. When I get a chance I'm going to try and create a replicable bug.

  • The new update is released! It fixes the chord skipping issues, please check it out and let me know if everything is all right!

  • Yup - working for me, thanks Cem!

  • All right here now. Thanks so much.

  • Hi,
Yes, the new update fixed the chords skipping for me.
    Thanks Cem!

  • @cem_olcay Yes no more skipping with the beta cheers.

  • Great, thanks 🙏

  • I never had this issue but glad everything is good for the people who did. Cheers @cem_olcay

Thanks for updating Cem. Just realized I didn’t post a link to the vid I did here, let me remedy that:

I saw this video on Saturday and bought both apps -- ChordBud 2 and RhythmBud -- over the weekend.

I like the idea of these two apps, but the implementation feels uneven. Here are four bugs I've noticed in two days of use:

    1. Undo is unreliable in both apps. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You can't rely on it, though. (Noted a month ago in Gavinski video.)
    2. In RhythmBud, quantize settings don't stick. (Noted a month ago in Gavinski video.)
    3. The first time you press play in AUM and Cubasis, ChordBud will often/usually skip all or part of the initial chord. If you stop, reset to the beginning, and press play again, it works as expected, but if you exit the app and start over, ChordBud will skip again. (Tested on iPad Air 1 with iOS 12.x in current versions of AUM and Cubasis 2.)
    4. When you're moving blocks around, it's easy to drop them accidentally on an existing block, which deletes all or part of the existing block. I understand the UI, but in practice it's frustrating. Undo should fix it, but undo only works half the time.

I realize that I only paid US$10 for the pair. That's not a lot, compared with what the apps can help you do.

Still, these shouldn't be happening, worth notifying @cem_olcay

  • I’ll resend here a comment I posted on the excelent gavinski review of ChordBud hoping it catches the eye of the developer.
I find the app very useful. The main inconvenience I see is only having a single line in transport. It would be much more friendly for example to be able to layout a song progression in 4 lines of 4 bars each. It would allow easier editing and easier to follow the progression as it plays. Right now I think the precious screen real state is not really well taken advantage of. Great app anyway.

Maybe @cem_olcay can help you he developed all the Bud apps. In terms of the app, I wish you could see the notes in the chord, maybe on the chord block, and then be able to change those notes and octaves to your liking. Basically create custom chords by adding/subtracting notes, like Tonality AU Pads. I love how well the Bud apps work together. Add chord, arp, and rhythm Bud you basically have a track, just add drums.

  • I know this has been discussed before, but I would find the app so much more useful (exponentially more useful) if there was some kind of switch to either 1) preview the chords OR 2) add them to the timeline. Meaning I can first hear chords for all the keys shown and then add them to the timeline once I like a pattern

I find the current preview option at the timeline OK, but not very helpful, as it takes time to add each chord, hear one chord by clicking on preview, then changing it, and then hitting preview again...

I know this app does not intend to be like suggester, but the principle behind suggester (i.e., clicking a chord triggers it immediately) makes it really fast to decide which chord progression sounds best

Maybe such a thing would be a programming nightmare, but I think it would be super helpful.

I certainly still like the app, but getting to trigger the chords sounds on the main screen without worrying about the timeline would be fantastic
