that's a great deal! I wish some of the plugins would go on sale too...
How usable is auria without the plugins? Is there any effects/processors within the app or is it all IAPs?
I'm also wondering whether the promised midi will be part of the next update or an IAP too.
Well I said I was waiting until midi or a sale and a sale has arrived!
Last sale lasted 24hrs so it looks like a 'grab and run' kinda situation!
Ok, just read about the effect, do I have any last question before I go? Mmmmmmm....
I'm fairly certain that the MIDI update will not be free, which makes sense given how much effort Rim is putting into it and the amount of work something like that will take.

Each channel strip has a gate/expander, multiband EQ and compressor by PSPAudioware. The sub channels and master strip each has a PSPaudioware BussPressor, EQ and master limiter. The master out also has a your basic brick wall limiter. As inserts there's a Stereo Delay and a Chorus unit by PSPAudioware, a classic reverb unit and convolution reverb unit. Dirac 3 Pro tech time stretching.
I think that covers what's included. The mixer and channel strips are nice and all, but it's all modeled after a "classic" mixer, so while the EQs sound great they can be a bit limited (with pre-set bandwidth for each band etc). As a first plugin to get via IAP I'd always recommend FabFilters Pro-Q EQ since EQ is perhaps the most used and important tool to have while mixing, and pro-q will more then cover anyone's needs.
Ok, sorry to be a pain. What is the difference between Auria and Auria LE?
Got the answer, definitely Auria full.
Goddit!
There's a comparison table between auria and auria Le on the wavemachine website
Get auria if you don't have it. That should answer any questions! ;-)
Wow, $13.99 U.S. for Auria LE.
People with older devices have been warned against the full version of Auria - is the LE version significantly easier to run, or would an iPad2 still struggle with it? (I'm using the soon-to-be updated MT DAW mostly, and largely still happy with it, but I'm also pretty ignorant when it comes to mixing and mastering).
I ran auria on an ipad2 with no problem, just freeze tracks when needed. You'll want the full version, trust me. But to answer, no difference in CPU, it's the effects that do it. Le doesn't include the convolution reverb, but you can have it with full version for a few dollars more and not use it. $50 for a daw is a steal. $25 is insane.
Cheers @thinds for heads up.
Thank you for the heads up!!! ... Finally jumped on this one. Now the wait for a plugin sale. Heh-heh.
Ok, so loaded a couple of audio tracks from a project I was working on bm2. Added ping pong delay on main vocals, got imini running with a straight up down 1/8 note arpeggio, opened Turnado via IAA......message 'CPU overload' WTF?
The only reason can think of is that I'm running this project at 48khz to match the original audio file. Also tried plugging dm1 in. Success as far as it has loaded but since the project is at 114.5 dm1 just couldn't do it, haha, losers. So yes, the first experience with mighty Auria is far from splendid. I'm going to down sample the files and see what happens. I'm not being optimistic.
IMini and IAA have always been a bit problematic for whatever reasons (at least with Auria).
Downsampled to 44.1 worked better until I got this message.
Come on Auria, I was running 10 audio tracks in BM2 today without a glitch within AB with Gadget and Turnado on the input with several of my daughters kiddy apps in the background. Maybe it is Auria's fat ass getting in the way?
Imini and auria are both hungry apps. If you clear your ram and print your audio you should be fine. I mixed my album in auria and it was great for me. I froze tracks when necessary, but most of the songs were upwards of 20 tracks, and I ran plenty of plugins.
I don't use IAA for anything, I have had issues when trying to do so. If you do, you may want to record imini then close it, then use turnado and close it.
44.1 to 48 shouldn't make a big CPU difference. One thing to remember, I believe I'm correct, is that bm2 is 16 bit only and auria is 24 bit, which does make a difference.
Anyway, sorry it's not working for you, it's been a great tool for me. BM2 was not for me, but my music is not electronic based, so that would influence that.
Auria does both 16 and 24 bit files.
I understand, but I believe it defaults to 24
Bought this today, and having only used Cubasis on iOS and Mixcraft on PC, I can now understand why Auria is held in such high regard. This is a stunning piece of software indeed.
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen the "Low Memory" popup that supadom got on my iPad, even though I'm sure there's times that things have slowed down, chugged, or crashed altogether precisely because of low memory.
This is a screenshot of the same project I was working on bm2 before getting Auria. Note gadget and imini running glitchless and in time (you'll have to trust me on this one) with BM2 recording and playing back several audio tracks and 2fx buses one of which is a heavily automated delay on the main vocal. I don't know what to say either.
I also put turnado in the fx slot with imini running an arp with a BPM delay alongside fully loaded bm2 in a way of performance test and I must say it all run flawlessly with me tweaking the hell out of turnado. Or there must be something wrong with Auria's latest update?
Just tried IMini as IAA going through the native Auria version of Turnado, and some drums along with it, while having a song in Gadget open and going.
When loading iMini, Auria will record enable that track. Disarming it will mess up the iMini IAA instance with Auria. That can cause a millisecond CPU spike that Auria will react to and stop all playback (and give a CPU overload message). There could be lots of other issues as well..
Auria is much more advanced then BM2, with all the audio routing capabilities and everything that goes on under the hood. It doesn't hold your hand like other apps by putting in limitations, anywhere. That doesn't mean it uses more resources then BM2 or any other iDAW, but it'll definitely let you do so. You have to take care of all that yourself. Check the settings, setup the best config for your setup. Obviously don't have a bunch of stuff opened in the background (if it worked in another app is completely irrelevant here). There's a CPU/RAM/Disk monitor in the mixer view by the way, tap it to change between various monitoring modes. Another thing that might make certain other apps not like Auria is that Aurias internal buffer is much higher then most other, 4096 if I remember correctly. You can adjust the record buffer in settings, another thing that might be worth a try if an app is giving you trouble, is to put Auria into audiobus mode in settings (even tho there´s AB involved).
Use the iPad and Auria a bit as you would a dedicated desktop DAW (watch all the porn tubes on the other computer and so on...).
Oh, and FabFilter Pro MB is something else. Nice.
Imini has many problems with its iOS implementation that are not sound related. I hope it gets updated fixing these issues so that the great sound can get used. We'll see.
