I hope that's not directed at me, @thinds?
@dj8 of course it wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. If It was I would have said so. I'm not sure what you took umbrage at in my comment. No worries this end, it's too early in my day to upset anyone:-) time for a cup of Assam now I think.
Kool in the kaftan, love and peace man, now all go and play the new Sector comp, on another thread
Ok, a little more peace and love sounds good to me. Off to try out more stuff with Earhoof, and…I'll leave it at that...
if its not asking too much Doug... seeing how this thread has departed from your original intent, perhaps you could post the video on another thread, if you don't mind?
;-)
no, actually please don't. but do keep the videos coming. Very entertaining and informative.

Ha, brilliant
You did it again...thanks Doug!
I'm glad I'm not part on this....
Oh f*** now I am!
This is good mr @soundtestroom you have some material for your next video blog! Iol
Ok back to the app. It could do with audio copy or midi sync, to make it really useful, considering its a sufistcated looper with automation.
I think its getting ACP

In keeping my newfound openness for overlapping threads, I've already started one ;-) Just kidding...
@thesoundtestroom
Thanks Doug for the Earhoof Video. I have purchased many IOS apps because of your videos and the excellent info they provide. When a new interesting app comes out one of the first things I do is go to YouTube to see if you have a Video on it.
Awesome, awesome video, @thesoundtestroom. I was about to go buy Earhoof, then I realized I made the thing!
Audio Copy / Paste is definitely the #1 thing people have been asking for, so once things become less hectic, you'd best believe Xcode and I are going for a long moonlit walk on the beach.

MIDI clock sync, MIDI clock sync, MIDI clock sync...
...just so you know there's a demand for it.
Amazing app, but that would make it even amazinger!
@Psicada what other ideas for apps do you have percolating within you? Is this your first release? If so it's quite an opener.
@thinds okay, I probably shouldn't let this slip… but it's called Beerhoof and it's going to absolutely blow every thing away. It's going to have Audiocuss support and everything.
I'm really pumped about working on a new app, though for now I have my hands a bit full with Earhoof as you can imagine. In addition to implementing a few things folks want in terms of updates, there are a few additions which I think will add a whole new layer of awesome. Things which I'm a little surprised people haven't mentioned... But as far as future app ideas, there are many - and the best strategy is to try things out, see what's fun, and morph the idea into something you hadn't planned on.
This release is my first with my own company, though I was making audio plugins for a number of years - at a really awesome company which I won't name but you've probably heard of.
It's been a quite a day, and thank you again to people who purchased the app!

A hoof obsession it seems:-)
@Pscida How about the ability to have one instrument on every surface? And then enable us to play more than one surface at once? (Btw, should we call them surfaces like in your App Store description, or strips, or columns?)
I'm really pleased to see this doing so well (currently #2 on the App Store music chart in the UK). Word of mouth is really starting to be a game changer for music apps, I think. The community's starting to get big enough to make a difference. Always lovely to see an app come out of nowhere and be successful, just by virtue of being GREAT.
Interesting and innovative app, but what's with the "hoof" thing? I don't see anything particularly related to music in animal's hooves...or can it also mean something else in English?
@Psicada When in the Rhythm Editor I can edit the Time Divisions, divide etc, but it seems I can't delete them, or undo? So you can have more but you can't have less of them?
@mmp It might be a pun on Deer Hoof, the band.
Oh. Never heard of them...Deer Hoof that is, not Van Morrison's Them ;-)
@Fitz Say that you divide a segment, now you have a bunch of little ones. To get rid of them, select that range (by dragging across multiple segments), and then set the division count to a smaller number - like one.
So, about the name "Earhoof". My goal with this app was to create something which felt like a real instrument. A good instrument feels like an extension of your body, as opposed to feeling like you're checking your email.
The easiest way to play this app is to just keep your fingers on the surface and slide around. I was doing that with a prototype, and had the thought that the actual physical device (the iPad) became a sort of weird cyber hoof. I also wanted to combine biological ideas with the Epcot-ish future design. So I added the other important body part when playing, the ear, and that jived with the ouroboros logo (which I had been drawing on napkins for a while). It's a unification of hand and ear. The logo also makes me think of a delay type effect, and the two independent delay buses of the program are a big part of its sound.
Or maybe that's just a cover, and there's a secret reason which I can't reveal...

@psicada. Great app. Can't wait to hear the story on beer hoof..... Well one hot Florida night after too many beers I though that..... :-).

Great, thanks! I had trouble figuring that one too, maybe you should add it to the manual?
@Psicada Yes, thanks for that info. Not sure I would have worked that out on my own!

*&#king brilliant!
Thanks you, Loving the app - this explanation makes me love it even more. You & your brain should create beerhoof soon.
