  • Ooooh...looks nice :)

  • It sounds pretty cool.

The dev has expanded the choices.

The wow and flutter can now be synced
to tempo which takes it out of the replica
and into the realms of effects.
It has a delay which I've yet to explore properly.
There are twenty one different tape responses.
Saturation has six different choices including
half and full rectify and it has a really cool retro
reel to reel animation at the bottom right hand side.

    Here's the standalone screenshot.

  • Who is the dev for this?

    Caelum Audio

  • Looks serious! Any idea of a drop date?

  • Ooooooohhh, yes.

  • Interesting, I had promised myself Reelbus would be my last tape emulation, but the free apps do sound great

  • Looks good. Hope it sounds as good. Interface is very well laid out which I appreciate.

Just in case you want to DIY one (and I'm sure you do):
Wow & Flutter = Modulated delay
    Tempo synced = Beat-synced LFO
Tape responses = EQs, Graphic Shaper curves, Envelope follower to fine-tune dynamic response
Reel to reel animation = Let your old iPhone play a video of a real to reel machine running 😅

  • As much as I love tape cassette and tape cassette 2, I feel like TC2 uses up a lot of DSP in AUM. Anyone else have that experience? I know it could be other culprits but seems to spike when I add TC2. Otherwise this new app looks super exciting...

  • @Poppadocrock i noticed spikes in BM3 then it outright locked up a multi instrument loop I was working on to the point it would play but the mixer screen would stutter and then eventually it would lock up and crap out. Next time I use it I’ll bounce to audio and remove the effect. Can’t afford to lose another project like that.

  • I'm all over this like a rash...👍

    Yup.
    Definitely going to. 😇

Graphic shaper is definitely my friend.

    😂😂😂😂😂😂

  • Looks great, can’t wait to feed some dub techno chords into it!

  • I’ve been razzing my guitar through it in between pomodoros at work this morning, nice warm breakup of sound...

It uses more DSP to eliminate aliasing unlike the other tape FX.

  • Wow this is incredible. I think it’s the first simulation that can Handle microcassettes in 1.2 and 2.4 cm/s haha great great stuff!
Will possibly take the place on the throne of best tape Lofi plugins 💪🏼

Gotcha. It sounds amazing, and I love it, can’t wait to see this pro version. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one. Thanks @jolico

Thanks for the feedback @king_picadillo I was thinking the same thing. In fact I’ve been doing that more and more recently, when I get high on DSP/CPU, I Render, or loop, or record the audio, and remove the CPU hungry apps in my session.

  • I like this one. Even the UI seems very intuitive and usable. What is the expected price-range? Any informations/guessings on this?

  • The Tape Cassette Pro Beta is the bees knees. Any word on release date? Or an approximation?

I know the first 2 TC iterations were free but I’m not expecting this one to be, what kind of price point we looking at?

    True dat

  • What does this bring to the table that the ToneBoosters plugin doesn’t?

No horrible aliasing polluting your tracks.

  • @jolico: the reelbus settings are adding a lot more harmonic distortion - which makes me think that the saturation is turned up higher than in the other app.

What do things look like if you back off the saturation level so that the amount of harmonic distortion is more similar to the plugin that you are comparing it to?

What happens if you lower the input level. Does reelbus have a hidden oversampling switch?

ToneBoosters mention oversampling in their App Store description which makes me wonder if there is a hidden quality/oversampling switch. Is there?
