Can you import stems into Gadget and use it for mixing? I just want to improve the quality of my mix downs over what I'm getting in Cubasis. I can export all the tracks in Cubasis as stems and need to know where to mix them and the only obvious answer is Auria Pro.

I have to start with Cubasis as a common tool for my collaborators.

  • Not sure if anyone has mentioned but you can use 4Pockets SidechainFX in Cubasis using the master/slave mode.

That's a good clue. I'm going to check it out. I recall SideChainFX implements it's own app to app
    bussing system.

  • It can be done but it's probably the last thing I would use for mixing on iOS. Also with Gadget you're always forced to pattern/grid and it's not always easy to work around that.
If Cubasis workflow suits your needs I would stay there. Built in stuff is pretty good, and it's faster, easier to handle projects when you don't have to move stuff back and forth. I haven't used Auria for long time and the only reason I would go back is deep audio editing (which I would probably never attempt on iPad anyway).
If the only reason is proper side-chaining, maybe try using AUM with those stems and pipe its out back to Cubasis?

Good clue. I have total respect for AUM and should work though this idea using AudioShare as
a file transfer mechanism. AUM just keeps adding functionality that solves major problems.
It's got a decent mixer UI and supports MIDI learn mapping of external controllers too.

It's hard to find anyone that has used this successfully and 4Pockets puts out apps like they are
disposable diapers. No visible updates and this is a tricky concept to pull off. If anyone uses it I'll
risk the $5 to try but someone has to speak up. The App Store reviews don't help give me confidence.

    Bueller?

Most definitely. Granted, I haven’t tried exporting a mixdown with it. But I also really dig this as a general sidechain even in AUM. Though TB Compressor might replace it for that purpose once I learn how to use it properly.
