GTL like Loopy can use your recorded loop as the time base. In GTL, turn cue off and the tempo is determined by the length of the loop you record. loopy can do this, too, And L7 and others, too.
Well that is good news. I just wish it wasn't like figuring out a puzzle to do it. Plus for the life of me I can't find the threshold setting.
For example, why would anyone think turning cue off would allow pedal style looping.
L7 seems a no go. The features are there but it always records with an extra section at the start making the loop points no good. Shame as it is a simple one to use.
I deleted it and reinstalled and the threshold button is there. Cool implementation of this feature.
I use Ostinator. Not clunky at all. Elegant in its simplicity.
You don't have to clear a loop; just his the Fade pedal (fade time can be set from zero to a dozen seconds) and the next time you hit Arm it records a new loop. Previous loop is overwritten.
Ostinator only records free-form loop times. It doesn't sync to the tempo. You set the length when you hit Arm a second time. Period.
The cross-fade feature is unique, AFAIK. You'll never get clicks, even in the most ambient music, if you set it right.
I've never worked with the threshold feature. I don't think you can set the threshold level. Here's what the manual says:

There is a lot to like about it. Clunky is probably not the right word.
