@SevenSystems - my all time favourite language / IDE is Smalltalk. The early 90's Digitalk version came on two 1.4 MB disks. This was around the time Microsoft was shipping MFC on CD-ROMS. I could do really complex UI stuff in Smalltalk in a fraction of the time, compared to MFC. In many ways, it was far superior to what we have now. I also thought the dev tools in NeXTSTEP were amazing too, but hey / ho... Guess it's the old VHS vs. Betamax thing
Maybe just pre-install Xcode on new MacBook Pros so when you get a 250GB model, you know you're not going to give up 50GB of that to dev tools!
Isn't that the precursor to Objective-C? My favourite language of all time is CoffeeScript. So favourite that I've developed my own dialect of it, which is what I use for most stuff nowadays. It is basically "JavaScript Done Right" (or at least as right as possible given the intrinsic conceptual limitations / quirks).
Yeah no shit, I was quite "surprised" when I wanted to try installing Xcode for the third time (which actually worked!) and macOS told me there was "not enough disk space", on an otherwise nearly empty Mac whose literally only purpose is... Xcode
@oat_phipps so you mean that you have worked on several different tracks created in a previous iOS version, and didn't have any problems in opening these projects after updating to iOS14? Are you on an iPad (I am, Pro 12.9 2018) or iPhone? In addition to testing all auv3 plugins in an empty Cubasis project, I created a project with a few midi tracks + auv3 instruments + several auv3 insert effects. Closing and reopening this project was without any problems. It is only when opening projects created when on iPadOS 13.7 that they crash Cubasis. I have posted about this problem on the Cubasis forum but so far no response. I will tag @LFS here just in case, thanks.

Danke @chandroji
Und Grüße nach B.
I'm amazed by the lack of internal quality control over at Apple.
Here's GarageBand trying to display AUv3's under iPadOS14...
Ironically the Icons show up GarageBand on my iPhone 8 running iOS14...
Few more tweaks and the first major step towards Logic parity is done
Right, that's the "Today View", which is the only place widgets can be added to in iPadOS, while in iOS they can share the "Home Screen" with the app icons
Edit: I'm not saying that having these differences makes any sense by the way
I was not seeing AU icons in AUM and then they started showing up after I loaded an IAA which did show the first time. Everything else I’ve tried so far is working as expected. 2019 iPad IOS 14
they also show up on an iPad Pro 2017 ...
Jim had a trick for GarageBand, first choose IAA (so GarageBand indexes all the apps) after that the icons pop up for the AUv3's as well, seems to work.
Yup just tap the menu where the IAA's are and then go back to the menu with AU's. Rebooting also works.
Rebooting didn't work for me that's why I got a bit annoyed
What I've noticed that some hosts crash hard when trying to load AUv3's while others work without any problems.
Hopefully Apple pushes out the fix asap.
@Samu iOS/iPadOS 14.2 went to devs today.
I just had an early 90's flashback to when Visual Basic came out on 3 1.44 Mb floppy disks. It was great!
I agree, 30Gb for Xcode is crazy!
Yepp, I'm aware of that but the 14.2 is for to coming iPad Air 4 and iPhones and more details of them will most likely 'leak' during next week or so...
I guess we'll see a point update as well as updates to some of Apples own apps to fix various bugs pretty soon.
All in all iPadOS14 was not really 'ready' but had to be pushed out because the iPad 8 was already in production and on the way out to retail...
Hopefully it won't take too long for the update to drop...
yeh i'm downloading now
not testing Garageband (refuse that app)
I like it on the iPhone 8
What fixes are there in the readme link?
dunno, I just hit download and go, well see in umm 5 minutes
@noob gimme Zeeon
wait i will test Zeeon in a sec just saw this wierd new thing in dropdown settings
@giku_beepstreet Zeeon - still not working - (same init" preset no matter what you selected )
also state saving is fubar still
@noob I found that too... it's apparently supposed to recognize sounds... errr... I tried "Cat", "Running Water" and "Door Knocking", but to the best of my cat's, water's and door's ability, it did not recognize one of them once, even with 10 attempts. Yeah not sure what they were thinking...
haha yea.. tried to bark at the moon, ipad did nothing
FYI, I found out that my SoundFonts app crashes in iOS14. It seems to start up fine the first time, but then I was getting consistent crashes after launch. I have found the problem for this crash and I am submitting a new version now.

I've got my Korg Air to work. I had to use Bluetooth panel in the settings menu to pair instead of the Korg app
Curious to learn more about your dev environment. I am comfortable with Xcode, but I'd be more comfortable in Emacs. Unfortunately, I have not yet found a sufficiently powerful concoction of Emacs additions to get me to something approaching Xcode's completion. But this was a couple of years ago when I last tried.
My favourite poly 2 won't open anymore on iphone x iOS 14
