My advice to anyone who gets BM3 crashes every 10 minutes is that they need to do one (or all) of the following...

    1. Report the issue on the BM3 forum, or via the Intua support email, including as much detail as possible
    2. Take a careful look at the steps/actions that seem to trigger problems
    3. Note which plugins were used when it crashed
    4. Post your findings on this (and the Intua) forum to see if anyone can share advice about what the problem might be.

    Things you shouldn’t do..

    1. Get frustrated and give up using this fantastic app.
    2. Complain about these so-called ‘bugs’ 6-12 months later when there a new BM3 update is on the horizon.

Apps only get better when the users with the problems take the time to document and report them. Every one of us has a responsibility to help make these apps better... not just assume that ‘someone else’ will take care of it.

Including crash logs in emails to developers can also be very helpful.

    1. Open Settings app.
    2. Tap Privacy.
    3. Tap Analytics & Improvements.
    4. Tap Analytics Data.
    5. Scroll down and select any items that start with the app name and that show the date you encountered the crash.
    6. Tap the Share button at the top right corner, and email the crash log
  • Good advice tk32 & wim! My 2 cents:

If someone is kind enough to offer to help and asks you to share your problematic session on Dropbox, please do so - use a private message if that's more comfortable for you.

People that help do enjoy tackling technical challenges and helping others. But it can get frustrating for them if they repeatedly ask for the problematic session or ips files and the only response they get is more complaining. Or a bad attitude instead of 'Thank you for spending hours of your day helping me'. Or the noise from others gets in the way.

Ignore the noise - those who pop in to say 'I don't have that problem', 'It's your problem, you're causing it', etc. Don't get caught up in that.

Again, ignore the noise, ask for help, and if someone offers to help you, accept it, keep it short, sweet, and tidy, answer all of their questions, keep the complaining to a minimum, don't cock an attitude, don't expect 24/7 free help, don't bite the hand that feeds you, and it'll work out in the end. :)

Though I never cared much for mpc style sequencing I have always loved the sampler in Bm3. If the dang thing wouldn't crash 10 minutes into every use I would use it often. New features are great but if the stability isn't improved then what's the point?

The only thing I know of that gets a crash in BM3 (that is not AU related) is if you set more than 64 slices on a sample and play back a slice by double tapping on it.

Hmmm, nope. It crashes on me in various tasks. The sample pack store, AU's etc.

If you are getting crashes every 10 minutes, there is something about your configuration (perhaps particular plugins?) causing the instability. I use it (primarily for its sampler -- using it for real-time re-pitching and tempo changing sliced up audio) and I rarely get crashes (i.e. I can go days or weeks between crashes). I don't run tons of tracks simultaneously and I avoid AU's that are known to cause issues.

What plug-ins are you using with it? What hardware and OS?

iPad 2019 (6th gen?) I haven't used it in over a year due to instability. I'll be doing something that sounds great and then (crash) happened a few times then I decided it wasn't worth the time.

I have that same iPad. If you last used it a year ago, there was an update that vastly improved stability since you last used it.

    F A C T S ! ! !

Spent several hours this weekend familiarizing my myself with the app. Not writing or trying to come up with music per se but exploring. Ended up saving something I like. Haven’t even gotten to the sampler yet.

I found it very confusing and panic inducing for about a 1/2 hour. By the end of about 2 hours I was hooked. (I tried this before about 2 years ago and it just didn’t click.) No AUs yet and nothing complex but I’m excited to get back to it.

  • My advice is to save about every few minutes! <—you’ll thank me if your work progress isn’t POOFed

That’s almost not needed with today’s update. The auto save has been improved and the unsaved sessions folder is no longer necessary as it was a culprit with the saving issue.

  • Meh... Don't care. BM3 is irrelevant to me.
