  • Roxsyn is quite fun running through FingerFiddle.

Roxsyn was a real gem... how did I miss this one before.. lack of reviews maybe

I think Roxsyn has been hampered by murky marketing. It's an FX/processor app but got misunderstood as a guitar synth?

  • When Roxsyn came out I got the impression that it was strictly for guitar/bass players. The demos gave that impression.

Saw the sale and skimmed a couple more video demos and they too made it look like this was really just for guitar/bass players. I don't play so I figured it wasn't for me.

However, for those who weren't aware (like I was) this reacts and is controlled by sound. You can control/play it just by tapping the desk... or with sounds out of your mouth. This is REALLY an amazing app! I would've bought it back when it was released had I understood how it works and that you don't need to use a guitar/bass with it. I even tried a Kalimba.

I feel guilty getting this for $1, but this is an absolute must buy if what I just described to you sounds appealing.

Already had the original Magellan but picked up the AU version. Already had the original and AU versions of the organ, as well as his other synths. All his apps are worth full price, but getting them at this price is almost shameful. :)

Roxsyn in FX slot=big smile :)

    Yesssssssss to that !

I'm surprised by Roxsyn. I had some difficulty at first with the sound dropping out while running synths through it. But then discovered the threshold has to be adjusted to avoid that.

Roxsyn makes some synth patches sound like a guitar run through an overdrive effect. I'd use it as a way to add realistic sounding rock guitar parts if I have the need for that kind of sound. I could get good power chords out of it, but it got muddy playing triads.. Though I haven't used it enough with different synths to know it's full capabilities.

But as an effect to make a synth sound like a rock guitar, especially for Pink Floyd like "psychedelic" rock guitar sounds, I'm impressed.

  • Kaspar is full of hidden stuff to customize Keyboard, Scales, GUI etc heh.. sick

    Just bought it and...oh yes!

  • @noob said:
Roxsyn can be used in AU FX slot (ofc, its what its for) No other of my Yonac apps shows up as AUFX maybe IAP needed? dunno, dont care for 3$ I got some fine stuff B)

That's because RoxSyn is an effect. The others are instruments. RoxSyn is essentially a filter and pitch-shifter with an envelope follower and envelopes rather than a synth.

  • What are the current prices for IAP in Tonestack? I can't check it because I have already bought them. I mean: Motherload 1 / Motherload 2 / Motherload 3. Thanks for the info

    Normal price for me.

  • Roxsyn being an fx explains a lot. Opened after buying and thought these presets are mad experimental, maybe I’ll make some broken cone, thrashed tweeter, shrill noise static jitter trap polka? Then I read here that it is an fx and I feel very relieved. That would’ve been too big a genre jump, I’ll stick to good old fashion smooth instructional trap polka.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • So I just bought Magellan 2, Roxsyn, ToneStack and Steel Guitar.

Anyone have any recommendations on IAPs? I'd like to give him something back given the ridiculous prices.

I can say I already had Galileo 2 and the Organ Essentials Bundle IAP and the bundle is a nice addition if you don't want to process it externally.

  • Didn't have any of Yonacs before. Galileo 2, Magellan 2 and Roxsyn. Yeah they are very good.

  • so does roxsyn make everything sound like a distorted guitar? is it different than using saturn 2 and some filters?

  • Got excited for a minute when I saw this, but then realized I already have all of the Yonac apps, including all of the “Motherlode” IAPs in ToneStack.

  • Thanks had the same impression as well. Buying as we speak !

That's what I thought it was. If its' an FX app even better.

  • @reasOne no!! it makes everything sound like a synth!!! you can run anything through it, drums, guitar, vocals, fingertaps, other synths... its really really cool

  • The IAP in ToneStack are at regular price for me.

  • So, the consensus seems to be They Yonac presets pretty much ****.

What are the alternatives???? Which downloadable presets are must-have?

More importantly, are there any Roxsyn presets that truly rock!?!?!?

    Yep, bummer.

  • What is ToneStack Go all about? Do I need it if I've already got ToneStack?

It is the free (or almost free) version. No need for it if you have ToneStack.

  • Well I picked up 6 of the 10... haha

No. Yes. It makes a guitar (or anything else) sound like a synth.

Magellan 2? I'm already drowning in the archetypal subtractive synth department. I really don't need this, I'm not even particularly curious about it. Is there something special here that I'd be missing out on, I know it's pennies, but the time I could spend on other stuff.

    It's relatively low on CPU.

  • @ .99 each - do you really need to ask?
