is that a rev counter?
Yeah its a real Bugati Modelname : Diva makes great coffee if you give it good beans.......
Where are the beans ;-)
@Blue_Mangoo iFretless is a great app, btw. Really expressive with some great sounds and MIDI capabilities, and I'm sure it will become a much used part of my Audiobus workflow when I get around to making some proper tunes!
It really is. I get lost in it for hours every time I pick it up. It's really easy to translate most songs you can play on a real bass without having to over think it. In some cases, especially with complex Primus tapping riffs, I can play it much better on this interface then I ever could on a real bass. :-)
All the functions are very smart and well thought out. the way the volume and velocity have end caps is just brilliant. On top of that it's very visually pleasing.
@Blue_Mangoo One thing that might be interesting in the future is a "let ring" function on the open strings (first fret). They'd have to have an auto release on them for sure. It sure would be nice to just have to tap the open string and worry about the harmony rather then having to keep a finger pressed.. limiting what you can do. Thoughts?
@Blue_Mangoo Welcome to the bus stop! Love your app. I initially had the same embarrassment as you for actively discussing guitarism around here, but soon realized that Sebastian and Michael don't seem to mind And the community is excellent
@Michael_R_Grant Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
@Ryan I see what you mean about the open strings. Right now I'm not seeing how we could make that smooth and easy to understand in iF Bass but it will definitely be there in the upcoming iFretless Guitar app.
@Rhism I have been meaning to tell you: I am seeing people saying good things about your app on several websites. The other day I decided to buy it. When I typed guitarism into the search field in the App Store on my ipad, nothing came up. The automatic suggestions under the search even popped up and suggested the full name of the app: guitarism - pocket acoustic guitar but the search result was empty. I tried other searches for other apps and they came up right away as usual. I gave up and decided not to buy the app. Today when i saw your comment, I went to Google and searched directly for the iTunes page and bought the app with no problem. So the page is there in iTunes but I just can't search it. If other customers are having the same problem it is really going to hurt your app sales. You might want to look into it. Anyway, I'm gonna go try your app now. I've heard a lot of great things about it.
@Rhism I'm in the U.S. App Store by the way
@Blue_Mangoo Appreciate the tip! It's because guitarism is not currently iPad-compatible, and the iPad App Store search defaults to only showing apps that have iPad support (you have to tap the little 'iPhone apps) button at the top to get the full list. Luckily, iPad support is the thing I'm actively working on right now so this problem should go away very soon. Once again, appreciate the comment!
@Blue_Mangoo It's not available for iPad yet. You'll have to search under iPhone apps and play 2x. iPad support is on it's way. :-)
About the "let ring" function.. I'd figure it'd have to be a toggle in the menu somewhere and start off.. as to not confuse anyone. It's probably work well with the custom tuning idea we talked about a month or so ago.
EDIT: LOL @Rhism we have to stop doing that! hahah
@Rhism Oh, yeah. I should have figured that out myself. Yeah, get that ipad version online and you'll be selling more apps.
@Ryan I love simple menus so it takes some time for me to warm up to the idea of adding a switch to the menu. I was totally against the lock switch until I saw your video. Sometimes I need something really concrete like that to convince me. I agree that we need to support other turnings, especially Guitar tuning. I haven't yet been convinced that Bass players really need A lot of turnings - I think most of the customers who are asking for that feature are actually guitarists. There will be more turnings in iFretless Guitar when it comes out, hopefully less than two months from now.
@Blue_Mangoo fair enough. yeah bass players don't need a lot of tunings but it's always nice to have the option.. dropped D is the most common. specially with the "let ring" cause then I might want the dropped D style having the D be on the first fret and ring. I also wouldn't mind if this was only for internal sounds and not for midi too. That might save some menu space as you could just add one more slider for "open string release". But yeah, no biggie, I don't need this.. It's just something that'd be nice. It's still possible to play the things i want with this exactly how it is.. Just when we get into certain rhythms like the intro of "to defy the laws of tradition" by Primus it becomes extremely difficult to play.. much easier on a real bass. But yeah a "let ring" option would fix that for sure. Low priority request for sure. :-)
@Ryan
I'm watching Primus play "to defy the laws of tradition":
I always start out by designing things to suit my own playing style and it would certainly never have occurred to me to play bass like this, had I not seen this video. I was thinking more of Jaco Pastorius style. He plays a lot of open strings too though!
@Blue_Mangoo Oh my... This was the first time you've heard primus? Les Claypool is up there for best bassist of all time. Search him on you tube. here is a good place to start. lol
And yeah glad you can see why it'd be difficult. LOL :-)
@Ryan I used to have My Name Is Mud on a cassette tape dubbed off the radio back when I was in junior high school. The audio quality wasn't clear enough to really hear what les claypool was doing and back then I didn't have a bass yet so I mostly just liked listening to his voice because it sounded funny. It's not that I've never heard Primus, but I haven't listened to that style enough for it to sink into my bones. When we first started working on iFretless, this was what we wanted to do with it:
@Blue_Mangoo Oh okay. Gotcha. I think it's far surpassed that. lol I been listening to Primus since i was like 9 years old and I didn't notice how talented they were till i was 15-16 LOL so i hear you. :-) I guess that was probably the first time I saw the tommy the cat video and saw what he was doing. That solo still blows my mind man. :-)
Of course a Pink Floyd cover isn't so bad after all:
