That looks nice, I’m tempted to preorder it
That's a fantastic piece of music but — what, he has like, six of those things running?
Damn, went to the Moog site and now I want one* of these for Christmas.

*or six
Sorry about your lost $200.
Eight. Plus a fancy book collection. Didn’t see any Proust tho. Hick.
😄
At $1592, I see better options that don't fill up my whole desk...
Ikr? It just leaves a tiny space for a framed picture of your loved ones, Ralf, Florian and the others...
I just pulled tne trigger on a Werkstatt. Such a deal, I couldn't it pass up. While preparing to purchase, I discovered some unused reward points on my CC that shaved $100 off the price.
Do I need another monosynth? Not really...but there's no way to pass up a real hardware Moog filter and oscillator w/CV for only $117. Especially considering the original price with the CV expansion was 3 times more. I also found some real knobs on Amazon for $10 to make it feel like proper synth.
Everything should arrive by next Tuesday fingers crossed. My plan is to use the Werkstatt with a Keystep 37, various CV apps running on old devices, and maybe some Eventide stuff on top. Should be a great way to lose some days just noodling around.
Which knobs did you find that work? @coolout
Good deal. I have the OG and this thread has gotten me motivated to bust it out this weekend.
I finally watched the OP video. I also appreciate how semi-modular creates an insufficient cabling nightmare, so he added strands of fairy lights to help.
Is anyone else bothered that the lucky cat in that video is waving out of sync with the tempo, or just me?
Now I kinda want to get one and hack in a MIDI-synced servo to wave the arm.
I appreciate that they opened with a shot of the plant so I know immediately the target audience.
I love how in all the Moog videos, all synth videos really, they make it look so important to really focus in and fine tune your knob turning. Like dude, you already did the prep work and have multiple sequences running, don't act like you're doing surgery instead of just listening back to what you programmed.
Does this thing have midi?
Nope. CV control only.

I’ve seen it several times for 199 USD or at least 230 USD as it was frequently on sale and I passed it up every time. Seems this one comes with the expander though, so that is good.
YES
Would like to see how they look installed.
How are you interfacing the apps with the MW-01?
I have one of the original Werkstatts. I was able to use an Arturia Beatstep to convert MIDI to CV. Anything similar should work.
The new Werkstatt uses a revised circuit board. The original did not have gate in. I had to mod mine to add it. The new version does have gate in.
Kinda makes me wanna see and try what can be done by sequencing multiple instances of Blamsofts Viking...
But that thing doesn't sound anything like the Wekstatt-01 and both Model D and Model 15 are too heavy for multi instance use for my poor old iPad Air 2. (Model 15 would be needed for the PWM stuff since Model D doesn't do that).
There is still a market for a simple super FAT one/two oscillator mono synth AUv3
C'mon Moog give as a 'iMother 64' AUv3 with multi AUv3 multi input & output support
But yeah, I want a Wekstatt-01 too
(Since one of the dudes at the local music store is a Moog Junkie I'm pretty sure he'll get them into the store for demo asap).
Cheers!
Somebody needs to make a Hello MIDI Kitty.
Funny how you couldn’t get rid of these for $100 not long ago. Had 2 as well as 3x Mother32’s & DFAM.
Starting to despise their marketing tactics while simultaneously enjoying the performances. 😂
I’ll wait for Behringer to do their version
Crave. Already happened.
Werkstatt is just a Mother 32 in another body with limitations (check the specs), just like Crave is half a Neutron.
@BroCoast Agreed, Moog's marketing is all about scarcity the last few years. Not a fan of this approach, which starts veering into elitism. They did that with Sirin, Moog One, and that uber Theremin thing. 😴 Plenty of Sirins in market.
Here are the ones I ordered, should be here on Tuesday. They also work with Korg Volcas.

In my usual obsessive ways, I researched knobs for hours before buying these. Feeling like a knob expert by now. Didn't go with standard Moog-style knobs. If they're too big they can block the writing on the Werkstatt, since Moog didn't design the panel graphics for big knobs like the Mother 32.
Also there's two types of general purpose knobs. 'Knurlded' that's designed to pop on the shaft style of the Werkstatt. The other kind has a little screw to tighten and you have to mod (basically fill with a cut piece of drinking straw) to fit tight. Apparently knurled works easiest but they're for a more permanent mount. You can easily break plastic pots while removing them. With the Werkstatt you might need to occasionally gain access to the circuit board for CV octave calibration, mods, etc, so I didn't want to chance damaging the device later.
This is what I'm hoping for:
