There’s a lot about DrumComputer I really like. The sound is full of character and even the very limited demo preset bank hints at some of its range.

But I’m surprised by the limited effects section, esp since SB apps often have excellent and creative effects sections. It’s crying out for a delay effect for one. I guess the only way is to use multi-out in AUM or whatever and set it up that way but a wider range of in-app effects options would add another layer of creativity.

I’m afraid for a £26 app this limitation is making me hesitate, as much as I want to buy SB apps and support them as a company as they are probably my favourite music app developer.

Maybe some more effects might appear in a 1.3 release who knows?

  • Do Sugar Bytes tend to make major changes to their apps once released? I think it's unlikely. So multi out is probably the way to go

It’s multi-out, so couldn’t you run each channel through its own external effects?

Changes not so much but some welcome additions do come. A delay does not seem impossible. Egoist recieved some features later on par if not greater than that and they did just add sample loading to DrumComputer so hmmm, ...pretty much just convinced myself at least. ;)

  • Is there a workaround for the crash in standalone mode on iPadOS 14.2?

Not usually but but Egoist had a .5 release 2 years after release:

@tk32 found a workaround. Disable Network Session midi or something?

but then I think about routing DC into Effectrix, Looperator, Turnado, and WOW... and I wouldn't want to pay more for FX that I already own.

I’m having trouble changing the root key in the piano section in the bottom.

I see what you mean @celtic_elk. You can rearrange the mappings however you want, provided that they cover the range 24-127, but only the left-most range has an adjustable root note. The rest are rooted on their left edge.

  • Bought. And i Will forever shut up hick..

@Gavinski I’m having trouble changing the root key in the piano section in the bottom. I watched your mapping tutorial and you didn’t talk much about changing the root key of tracks 2-8. I can move track 1 (kick) to a different root by sliding the square in between the key range because it defaults with it half way between the key range. However, on 2-8 if I slide the block I change the key range and root...Trying to get an 808 with pitch below and above. tried many different gestures and can’t seem to figure it out.

Even read the manual and it didn’t really emphasize on this topic.

    Thanks! In advance.

According to the manual, only the zone for track 1 is "bipolar" (Mute Action and Mapping, p.35).

    Ahhh good find. Thanks 🙏

  • Looks like there’s a bug in the the Clap randomizer, I’m getting hats instead of claps

  • Is this locked in 4/4 or can you have other time signatures?

  • You can do whatever you want, even polyrythms, because you can change the length of even each individual track up or down as many beats as you like > @yowza said:

    ... but… where's my name ? :-D

  • Most valuable giveaway so far, yes, but this video was far and away my most watched and commented so far, so the odds were crap, indeed. Still, it only takes a minute to enter, no harm in trying 😁

  • Always worth it, way better odds than the lottery - I was well impressed by the number of comments, well done building such a fan base!

Yes they are nothing like claps - which is a bit of a pity - I like having claps.
Any thoughts? Is it the same in the desktop?
    I’m going to report it.

    Congrats, yes very lucky.

  • One of them bought it already. I sent a message to my subs with a hint of how to get his free copy but nobody's biting, come on folks!

  • Oh no, I found it, saw the hint post earlier and thought it was the spare swam code so didn’t go for it as I only have the play version...

  • Happy it was a forum member Chris! Just DMed it to you bro. A nice big fat drum computer code 🎉

  • Ta man, I’ve been loving the demo and was still wavering, this makes my mind too real quick though :)
