I read that the 64 pads can be used as a midi keyboard, in several configurations. Haven’t seen anyone demo that feature yet though. With that many pads, it looks really playable.
Let's see how well the SQ-64 will integrate with iOS apps in the future. It would only make sense to me if the sequence will always be in sync with the iOS app used.
Power and MIDI over USB. Nice easy connection to DAWs.
If the 4 rows can be used as octave tiers of select scales I’ll definitely be getting one, if only to use as a controller. I’m pretty sure I read that’s one of the ‘keyboard’ configs. Gotta check out the manual.
Are the keys/buttons velocity sensitive?
3 keyboard modes.
They are not. 20:19 on the loopop video. Also has a micro-usb connection, which is never welcome in my gear.

Isn't this possible with any button controller like APC Mini or Launchpad Mini?
Reserve one button row for selecting one out of 8 scales, for example.
Probably is, but those are all 8x8. More buttons on the X axis appeals to me. The CV/Gate connectors would be very handy too.
But it’s been a while since I posted that, and the gas has subsided quite a bit. Now I’d prefer to save my money for an ES-8 or 9 to use with Drambo instead 😁
OPSIX vs. Digitone
Anybody else get an opsix? I’ve had it for a couple weeks and I’m totally thrilled with it. The extra modes are awesome, and the programming layout is so easy and fast after you’ve done a few patches. Really great design. Such a quality and feature improvement over the crappy Minilogue, which I leaped at to buy before doing research because hey!, poly analog for $500. It was a total toy. But the opsix sounds really amazing and is definitely worth it. Finally a Korg I love.
Wow. That's a rave review. I have a birthday coming up, but am worried this is too clever/complicated for me....anyone else?
If you’ve ever paid attention to my posts, you know I’m the harshest critic on this board. But I’m truly in love with this. Watch the Cuckoo video on YouTube and it should definitely answer the question of if it’s right for you.
He’ll seem like a wizard at first if you watch the whole thing, but after about a week (maybe 1-2 hrs each day) of reverse engineering and programming, I’m whizzing around like he is.
Plus, it has the 2k21 spiritual sequel to the classic DX7 Bass 1 preset (“Danger Zone” bass). And you can load DX7 patches if you wish. But you probably won’t want to after you hear this.
Thank you very much. I appreciate your nudge.
I think Korg really knocked it out of the park last year with the WaveState, OpSix and ModWave, three original takes on classic designs. I hope they will continue to be innovative through this year.
The DX7 killed fm for me. I know I know, that's stupid but those sounds ...
The Volca FM will do it for me. Maybe I'll change my mind in a few years when I've mastered other forms of synthesis. HA!
I’m waiting for a one-knob-per-function FM synth. On the other hand, it’d be huge, so maybe not.
(Not to hijack, but I’m currently obsessed with the Behringer Cat. I classify it as the most advanced and well-thought-out synth of it’s class at that time (of the Octave Cat), and would suggest it’s more useful to a synthesist than even an ARP 2600, given it’s superb VCO 1 to 2 and 2 to 1 fm cross-mod, and also the waveform mixing) (I’m so tempted to order a Behringer Cat).
fwiw, I've been enjoying the sounds of Fors M4L FM devices. Fors was started by Ess, formerly of Elektron and a member of the Digitone team.
My struggle has been more with relearning to use Live 11 than with the Fors devices.

Good to hear demos going beyond the presets:
Recent review:
Nothin like an FM smooth pad/crisp bell combo
I read the envelope auto repeat is a cool feature of the Cat. Do any iOS synths have that?
Well, that feature is derived from the Arp Odyssey (this and a few other aspects caused Arp to legally prod Octave over similarity back in “the day”).
Another synth that has envelope repeating/cycling is the VCS3 - the envs will repeat (this time at a rate dependent upon the envelope duration itself) unless you take it off the repeat setting.
Both those synths are represented in iOS.
Excellent. Thank you for that. I’m going to have a play.
I always like the Jexus demos
Still lovin the opsix. Gets pretty much daily use in recording or fiddling. First synth purchase I’m truly happy with.
same here
I just made the best FM patch ever.
Jexus demo part 2, good stuff:
