  • So we can use any amount of apps under 5$?

And I'm pretty confident we can trust people to make Impartial decisions based solely on the merit of the music instead of keeping emotional obligations to friends, but u never know...

Anyway, on to the meat.... How are the participants chosen? First come first serve? Or maybe there can be a tournament kind of lay out? Based on genre?

  • So we would need a SC account? Are they free?

And just to clarify...are u saying we can not use an app if it cost more than $5 when we bought it or it's current price? Does this include currency exchange rate? Haha jk about the last one

...and there are some apps for free, but with IAP...complicated.
For example, Animoog's release price was 0,89 so...is under 5$?
My vote is no limit price.

  • I don't get the price limit thing to be honest, surely the only important criteria are the quality of the music and that it was produced on iOS with Audiobus?

I agree on price, it's a line in shifting sands.

    How about:

    1. All participants must use the same apps
(If u don't meet app requirement then maybe we could run two contest at the same time...a free app contest and a paid app contest)

    2. First 15 people to sign up in hosted thread are in

    Yes no?

Agreed, the price limit thing seems pointless to me and impossible to enforce -- and I know it's an honor system, but I meant to enforce myself... I can't remember what most of the music apps I bought cost when I bought them, and if I had to go look it up... well, lets just say that would be enough to not even participate. Just my $0.02.

To be honest the apps used shouldn't matter, other than the "core required" app or sound/preset. That makes sense, so everyone has at least one common starting point. But if you think owning a $10 app will automatically give you an advantage over a $5 app... well that's just crazy ;)

Everything else sounds great though! :)

  • Guys. The price limit suggestion has only to with this:

If @jesse_ohio decides to host a battle, he picks the rules. He may choose to say "You must use App X". App X should not cost more than 5 dollars.

In other words, if a particular app is ever required in a battle, it shoudn't cost more than $5. That doesn't mean you can't use other apps to make your tune that cost $100.

  • @nic_b_nice why limit the number of possible entrants? I think time based is a little easier. Host starts it and sets a 'post to soundcloud by this date' type rule. Let's keep it simple.

  • this is already so much fun, LOL.

Simple rules will make it work, and ironically I think that is what CSwinn was going for.

I think the idea is to use anything you want within iOS, but contests cannot require any app above the $5 threshold. I think a $10 max is more realistic.

Only reason I suggest 15 is because that gives us voters more time to really listen and critique. If we have 30 one minute songs to judge that's gonna take an hour plus if u really are judging on content. Yes, I know 30 x 1 = 30 but if we are really listening, if you're like me then u will listen twice or maybe three times...a lady! Haha sorry bad joke

I have 3 boys who play baseball and go to school. I'm sure I'm not a lone when I say I don't have tons of time to spend judging something that in the end isn't putting money in anyone's pocket.

Don't get me wrong I love this idea and want to fully participate but time is too valuable to have to judge that many songs. Like u said keep it simple. 15 is simple. Just my two pennies

  • fair point. I think in reality though, of the first 15 to post to a thread, 5-8 will actually get something submitted. Host of any contest could perhaps say 'the first 15 posted to soundcloud' or something.

Enough with the talk. @cswinn, declare some rules and get this show on the road. Doug will be out soon!

    Werd up home slice

  • LOL. The most I read, the most it looks like a parlament trying to make a new law...
I'd like to know what Groucho Marx would say.

Ahhh okay, that makes more sense. Sorry if I was being dense =)

  • Okay, Battle One is posted. Please see the other thread, we just have to try it.
