Version 1.03 is out:
Increased the number of Mixer Snapshots from 8 to 16 (TAP and HOLD the snapshot button to change banks).
Added a new MIDI Remote Control option which can be enabled in MIDI Settings. If you were previously triggering snapshots using MIDI then you need to enable this option.
You can now remotely control the faders, pan, solo, mute and user 1-3 knobs using external MIDI so long as Remote Control is enabled and your hardware is configured correctly.
Added the options 0.5s and 0.25s to the 'Fader Speed' menu as well as common beat intervals.
Fixed an issue which occasionally prevented input into the editor until the component was selected.
Updated Help.
Polyphase is not bad for sending cc messages, you also draw them in similar to this, though it is IAA not AU, and only has 4 lanes to draw in your cc values.
Cool. I tried it out with Xequence last night and it worked pretty well. I feel like MM seems more convenient being AU, so perhaps I’ll try it eventually. Thanks!
The extra 8 snapshots are just what i needed! Nice update.
I
Any chance to have the option for sending cc message in addition to sending notes?
This program is almost exactly what I needed. Midi Learn function would be EXTREMELY helpful. I use AUM with a guitar synth. It transmits notes on Channels 1-6 (one channel per string so that I can assign different instruments to different strings). So having the mute/solo set to a note value is a problem. If not midi learn, then a more extensive midi map editor than the current midi settings window would make this near perfect. Thanks for making this!

I'm surprised that it doesn't have midi learn.
But a question to those who use it.
If I have the faders and mutes midi-mapped to my LaunchControl, and I'm riding the faders during a recording, won't that translate to MidiMixer?
Is there a way to save the user CC values in snapshots?
Yep!
Agreed.
How about if the notes were changed to Note 0 and note 1?
You’ve seen the Snapshots implementation?
Iv mapped volumes to a nanokontrol.
Whats the note deal?
Why not just be a cc number?
Did the dev just look at how aum initialises and see that its a note for mute and solo so chose to make an app based on that ?
Can anyone suggest how you might map because a button is muting every midi mixer channel and also solo the channel im trying to mute but then dosent even unmute anything.
In midi mixer you can only select one cc or number. So channels have to be different midi channels? but thats not working.
please dont tell me the dev has made another unusable app. Its just basic midi.
Anyone know. Before I flip out.
Thanks.
It's working fine on me and, yep, it's just basic midi. When you say "what's the note deal?" what do you mean? What are you trying to do?
Iv mapped volumes to a nanokontrol. 8 volumes of midi mixer 1 to 8 nanokontrol knobs. Knobs are 1-8 midi channel and same cc. Then iv mapped another 8 volumes on another midi mixer. 1 to 8 faders of a nanokontrol. Faders are midi channel 1-8 and same cc but different cc to midi mixer 1. I get 16 volumes on midi channel 1-8 but made 16 because of x 2 cc number
Cant get it to work for mutes and solos. Applied the above but then in korg editor assigned all buttons as a note. Think I need to read manual.
Why no 16 channel mixer also. Nearly every controller is 16 midi channels. So would it be easier or the same to use a 24 mixer. Then delete the 8 aum tracks but have a 24 channel midi mixer with channels unused and not x2 midi mixer with 8 bands each?
Maybe both 4 pockets and AUM developer should do a collaboration on this snapshot thing.. Seems more powerful if you can snap the ‘state of project’ (all efx, instruments, automation, etc ) on a key/pad...
I can't help you with the Nanocontrol setup, sorry. But the one thing that is confounding a bit is that MidiMixer doesn't allow for snapshots via AU parameters, although that would be optimal. Instead you need to convert everything to the bottom 16 notes on Channel 16 to remotely control the snapshots. Everything about the CCs I find to be pretty straightforward, though as MidiMixer maps the CCs to the default CCs in AUM.
Hi Luke. Its just to have mutes and solos per midi button per channel. Like Aum but recorded. I maybe able to edit tracks between mutes and solos. If I mute a kick. Then Id maybe need midi mixer to remember the mute. In case I make an ok noodle but with abilty to edit tracks. Sounds dodge right? Usually I guess you would just use mixer after a track is made but I guess if I just sequenced to drambo patterns in aum. Id have composition already made. Would be better if you could rewind aum because if an edit is on pattern 100. You gotta wait 100 patterns to edit. Thats if you wanted to hear the midi edit with an audio track. Probably not worth it but would be cool for midi mixer to always be engaged. Dont think you could rewind aum if there were sequencer apps looping but could work if implemented with Drambo implementing a linear counter also. Maybe Im just being stupid but think its an idea just based around Euclidean sequencing anyway, Where midi would be recorded linear if you set patterns. You would have abilty to edit stuff thats still midi, with audio tracks. Hence why I bought midi mixer ( not remembering you cant rewind Aum ) lol
So can you mute and solo per track via midi and it record to timeline. Like the volumes do?
The default cc? Does that mean you have to set midi into aum via controller to be the same as the default midi in aum? You cant give different/new cc to aum via midi? Not sure. Were able to choose a cc in Aum and midi mixer for volumes via controller mapping.
Yes.
Pretty nice app..
Would be nice if you can just use AUM’s mixer to do automation. Used it to control MidiSTEP’s patterns.. lots of possibilities..
Global snapshots seems quite possible .. Maybe Ver. 2 ..
Nice..
😎. Snapshots and automation would be the ultimate..
Can the loop points for automation be held within one of the snapshots? Or how does it work if you are looping away and you want to change the automations quickly?
Does anyone know if midimixer can be set up with 2 devices, so that midimixer on one device can can control AUM channel volume/pan etc on another device? Here’s hoping someone knows a way to do it… ta 🙏
Can you have other audio units outside of the main mixer area when using this. I mean like could you have say 12 sequencers outside (still in AUM) and 12 synths inside the 4pockets mixer. I would only want to mix and automate the sound coming out of the synths. I feel like I would be wasting lanes by having them used for the sequencers. Is this possible? - or do you have to work within the 12 lanes as a sealed unit type of thing?
@robosardine Not sure I'm exactly understanding your question, but you can certainly have other audio units outside the MIDIMixer AU window. What is tripping me up is that it sounds like you think the AUs load INTO the MIDIMixer app but that's not the case. The MIDIMixer simply controls the AUM mixer channels that are already set up in AUM. It's like a single pane view of the AUM layout (with automation capabilities).
Ah righto thanks. I actually thought shortly after writing that I maybe hadn’t described it very well 😀, but yes - I think you got the gist of it. I have also now seen Gavinski doing it in one of his dandy tutorials. Everything seems clearer now 👍 so thanks to you and @Gavinski
