@Lorichs, as a shortcut getting started, you can open one of the projects in the templates folder. I always load the mfx effect version then the 8 tracks (MIDI to CV) template and work from there.
Am I doing proper amplitude modulation by using the amp module and my choice of modulation or would I need to use the amp envelope or does it matter?
Edit: nvm, I stopped being a jabroni and used the oscilloscope
Thanks @wim
Yes @gravitas. I’m a huge fan of the grafical modulator and envelope 😊. Often times my modulator of choise
Can you save midi mapping per track and import the track with mappings. Like AUM. I can import or load a patch per track but no mapping saved?
MIDI mapping is per project, not per track or rack/module. I think there was an item in the roadmap to implement something along these lines, I don't know if that'll be in the upcoming update.
Thanks. Will just use Aum for the synths. Still have a Drambo ipad for project.
Drambo Pros.
Mapping 64 launchpad pads to a koala sampler. Any audio source I may route to koala but using Koalas custom mapping system. Its like Im bypassing Drambo rules perhaps or I need your skllls in obtaining a filter/midi filter module/route.
Basic mapping. The 64 pads are midi ch 3 with an ascending octave range. Mapped ok to koala. Its just another launchpad custom page ( a 16 grid ) An ascending octave range but midi ch 2. The launchpad note page ( the keys which are not a custom mode ) Midi ch 15. Which is set from controller. These midi channels/some buttons trigger Koala.
Think its sorted anyway. No worries.
Not using a launchapad now to trigger koala because Id then need to switch from custom mode on launchpad to note mode for keys. Using screen to record via koala is fine. Its just I have to menu dive when I need to sample. I need to switch midi input to always for the track to be triggered and if I switch always for all tracks. They will all be triggered. . Just being a twat because I might only sample now an again but would be cool if always and track ( for those midi modes ) could be mapped to launchpad. Unless theres a solution?
Unless the channel filter converts midi?
I am being a twat. I need to route the synth anyway. May as well just sort the midi also.
But what would be cool. Is launchpad would be midi mappable track/always and although Drambo isnt a cable wired synth. For routing to sampler. A cable would be good from synth to pad. Unless people dont really sample.
Glad I learned about sends, setting up latest drambo.
Ipad air drambo. Made session with all tracks used. So up to 16. All have sends and writing on these is displayed as routed.
Ipad mini. Made session with all tracks used but every additional track thats added ( doing a test/mapping with a new session, also to see why )
The added tracks say amp. Instead of master and dont indicate with writing as master. When routed via ( audio to ) But dosent also give sends. Noticed theres a red number 7. In the original mapped session. There were actually more scattered red writing as routing options. Maybe its a bug and I need to re-install drambo?
Re-installed for nothing. Any track added though and routed just says amp, on the track page but master on the main page. The sends are there on the main page but no knobs on the tracks.
Its cool. Were able to re-install from icloud. I think the re-naming has a lag but updates fully, when saved and then loaded.
I dont think drambo output can be configured. Like loopy. Even though it shows all audio4c ports.
Heres why. Hopefully system works well as I think I sorted a monitoring route ( if the outputs cant actually be configured )
Audio 4c routing is
1+2 out 5+6 in
3+4 out 7+8 in
5+6 out 9+10 in
The overlap but wouldnt know as iconnect routed for me. Is 1+2 for headphone out and the 5+6 but without issue. I assume most hosts or by some protocol use 1+2 out.
With aum though you can route with
1+2 out 5+6 in
3+4 out 7+8 in
5+6 out 9+10 in
3 stereo channels to another aum ( with a 4th maybe made via audio4c ) I assume the reciever aum still outputs via 1+2.
With Drambo. It seems that even with the ports. Iv had to allocate it 1+2 out. So a drambo ipad is being monitered by a Drambo on another ipad ( 5 + 6 in ) then I guess to default 1+2 out. Background audio on though in app. So can then..
Use aum ( background audio on ) and route to drambo with 5+6 out. Recieve on 9+10.
I have to skip a channel of 3+4 for some reason. Maybe because of the non configurable output like loopy?
Which means loopy on the reciever ipad. Still outputs on 1+2 but shouldnt be outputting to the same ipad Drambo and hopefully a direct mic input to loopy will be line input 1 and not the usb 1+2 ( obviously )
I still maybe need a reciever drambo even just to monitor as a background app for the other ipad. With loopy on this ipad
So its a drambo host. An aum host. Monitered with 2 tracks of other drambo on other ipad.
Loopy pro on same ipad as the reciever drambo not routed to any drambos.
Id need to build tracks with exporting loopy loops and tracks made in the other hosts and hoping the Drambo per track recorder will work well.
Id probably need a hardware recorder to record live looping. Or combine 3 main bus outputs. Then use imovie.
A drambo question. Disregard all my other book novels.
Iv made a setup. Added tracks etc but some tracks cant be routed to the sends. Dont think theres a max amount of tracks that can be sent. Tracks are a koala sampler track and usb inputs. Maybe its because they are exterior sources. Maybe because koala has a mic etc. Maybe I need to redo setup. The sends of the usb inputs just add some additional volume gain.
Good point @sigma79. Found a few issues when trying to answer your questions. Just reported them.
Cheers rs. Is it usb sends? Will make another Drambo template with Drambo update anyway. Will prob just see what loopy is about. Until then/make synth saves.
rs. I think you showed me before. How can I make ( if not with a drambo update ) An app like sb drum be multi out audio but utilses a midi mixer so drambo sequences an auv3 drum app. Per voice.
Does the AUv3 drum app support different MIDI channels for each drum instrument?
No. Its cool. Will just use Drambo modules. Update is good.
Not sure why apps dont make midi channels per instrument.
Good apps do

Because the vast majority of users wouldn’t use it. Pretty simple to set up a Mozaic or streambyter script to remap incoming notes to different channels.
I just got Drambo, I can create a simple song (loop) with some instruments. DId watch some tutorials and read a bit here and there.
I only have 1 question, if I want to edit midi notes in a pattern, like commit notes to a different scale, or create a random note sequence, random chords, stuff available in Atom 2 and LK, do I need to do this with the midi modules, or is there some extra menu with these (power) tools available? I couldn´t find anything than the most basic tools like quantize.
Any help out there?
Its cool. I just use different drum apps for different tracks plus Drambo module.
The philosophy of Drambo is to have a lot of rather basic modules to build more advanced stuff with.
Instrument/effect/MIDI racks allow you to encapsulate huge module chains into much more usable, compact racks.
These functions help you doing this:
About your MIDI processing question, I could write a book about it.
To quantize notes to an adjustable scale, route the pitch (musical note) signal to a CV quantizer and use that e.g. to feed the Oscillator pitch.
hello rs2000, thanks for your fast reply, thanks! Good to know what is available and what not.
I will dive into the midi process modules a bit more. As it seems to me, (with my limited experience), in Drambo, when it comes to composition, you have to make some kind of plan in advance, to work a bit faster.
And in AUM I can use these other sequencers.
@raabje Oh, definitely! It's worth thinking about how something could be built the best way. Even after building more than 1000 Drambo projects and patches, when I have a new idea, I'm first thinking about possible ways do do it and then decide which of them could be the most efficient way.
Just to be clear: All of your ideas can be done, it would just be too much to elaborate on each of them
Try and play around with what's available. If you're looking for modules doing a certain job but have no idea which one to choose, feel free to ask. Several beta testers and seasoned Drambo users have an eye on people seeking for help and usually it won't take long until you get an answer.
BTW: A random chord generator with 4 voice polyphony. The LFO gate input is connected to MIDI2CV gate out.Play any 4-note chord to synchronize the note starts.
Why so simple?
Because the gate signal can be polyphonic in Drambo. The LFO, CV Quantizer and Oscillator are all capable of handling polyphonic signals (only the modules ending with a (1) in the module menu aren't) so that's all you need.
