Hi Clam. Yes, it’s a recent thing for me. I’m really working hard at it but am fully aware that I have a lot to learn. I’ve just done a YouTube search - I see what you mean. I’ll watch some of those. A lot of people say thumbnails are the most important thing. I definitely need to work on that. Thank you buddy for taking the time.

I saw something about having a clear picture of your face in the majority of the shot for the thumbnail helps generate clicks cos it connects people to a human element. I actually checked YouTube after reading that and saw it consistently as well on videos with a lot of views

I can see that, that makes a lot of sense. There are those YouTubers of course who we would never recognise in the street because we never see their face. It’s all screen record, but I never wanted to take that approach. It doesn’t work for a player of things with strings.

Yeah I feel you on that. I usually either do screen grabs or guitar stuff on my videos so I never even use video of myself and I’m pretty much a mute in my videos. My guitar face would send people running

  • I started watching your videos when you did the NuRack ones and they helped a lot to start using and get the best out of the app so please keep it up.

Off to watch the MixBox one now.

@Jamie_Mallender, I though your video would be too long for me, but I've reached the end with pleasure... and subscribed too.

It's great to have another good guitarist testing apps while we can see what you're doing. Your playing is just what it needs to be to let the viewer appreciate the app's possibilities... I say this in "comparison" with @flo26 who plays SO SOOooo SSOOOO WELL that, at the end, I just can't believe that his sound comes from elsewhere than his fingers and his pure talent when he demoes anything 🤩... read me well, that's not to say that you have no talent ; I'm sure you are much talented too ! (I hope my english is correct enough not to say stupidity and upset anyone here 😅🤞🏼🤗).

Thank you so much for the nice compliments. I really do appreciate what you’re saying. I used to find it very hard to play in videos because I’ve played at quite a high level and it makes you feel a great pressure - like people are analysing every note, every slight error. I’ve managed to relax now but I try to remember that if someone is watching a video about an app, they’re not watching to see how many notes I can play. Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice thing. Much respect. :)

Thanks buddy. YouTube has been a very slow grow for me, but I can’t deny that I didn’t get it right early on. It does really seem to be picking up now. I really enjoy it and genuinely just want to help this community flourish. Thank you for your encouragement buddy, I watch your videos a lot.

Haha! Guitar face moment - went for a big bend the yesterday, the skin between my fingers cracked - I’d just come in out of the cold. Had to do that take again, nobody needs to see that. 😂

You know, I loved doing the NuRack ones but they weren’t a big success. I thought I was on to something there but I didn’t capture people’s imagination with it. But they’ll be there for reference if anyone needs them in future. It’s a shame about NuRack, it’s brilliant but I don’t think enough people recognise that.

  • The challenge: Write and record a guitar based track on the iPad in 1 day (an 8 hour session) using MixBox on everything. Recorded in Cubasis 3. Link in 1st comment.

  • @Jamie_Mallender Probably not a good idea to use this thread to promote each YT vid, although it is MixBox related (and worth watching IMO) I think this approach may get some flack.

Might just be me misreading the room though!

It’s a fair point, but I don’t really know. I couldn’t weigh up whether it was more acceptable to start a new thread or keep to one for related subject matter so I thought I’d try it this way and see if anyone tried to decapitate me with words. 😂😂
