@king_picadillo Do you have THU? I think (could be wrong) there is a free or cheap version.

I was able to set something up yesterday. Didn't test it but has different distortions in left and right paths using seven band eq to controls the crossover. Not an exact science but seems like it can do distortion on separate frequency bands.

    Bleass Saturator.

+1 for Bleass Saturator. Great sound, great touch interface. Loads of good presets and plenty of controls too.

@Tim6502 i have it, got it at the behest of @colonel_mustard and I really like it. I don’t use AUM, are the presets AUM specific or can they be used in a different iOS daw? I googled General rx950 presets and couldn’t find any.

Just check out the manual - https://www.inphonik.com/pdf/RX950-User-Manual.pdf - you find the presets there.
Unfortunately, the app itself does not save presets, but your DAW will typically let you do that. I know how to 'export' and 'import' these for AUM so that they can be shared. Not sure about other DAWs.

Thanks @colonel_mustard that works and actually seems to be a fix that Fab Filter implemented, must not have noticed that update. Brilliant, Saturn is back in my favourite apps list again 😜

Is there a knack to getting the Saturn pan controls (those outer rings on the level knobs) to behave well? I constantly have problems getting Saturn to recognize whether I am trying to move the level or the pan.

The best I've found so far is to drag from the label itself (Drive/Level) when I want to tweak the pan ring. I do agree that this is a real issue that clearly comes from not having adjusted the UI from the desktop version.

Those outer rings respond to touches on a wider circle than what you see. Try touching the 'R' in the bottom right 'corner' as a pickup point.

@king_picadillo - talking a lot of sense there. Stay strong, brother.

    Nice one bruva!

Are there any fx apps out there that are similar to Saturn 2?

What similarities are most important? The range of distortion types, the multiband capabilities, modulation?

  • Range of distortion types mainly. Type of music I make doesn’t require the most surgical precision.

Is Bleass the closest to Saturn but noticable better cpu.

Are the bands in Bleass just the same as Saturns. Like an EQ.

Perhaps good enough to just need a smoov compressor.

Will I think im missing out not using Saturn.

Woot maybe. I mean it's nowhere near it but it does the multiband comp, distortion thing.

Woot is nothing like Saturn...not a knock on Woot... they just don’t aspire to the same feature set. Saturn is a very deep app with many saturation and distortion models which can be applied in different bands and on top of that has a huge variety of Eq and dynamics processing with deep modulation control, and tons more.

Elsewhere a link to an excellent demo/tutorial was posted.

    And not everyone needs it.
