Is IK multimedia a horrible company?

Seems like a lot of these companies should have put a major focus on mobile development for iOS and Android years ago. Not just apps, mobile hardware too.
IK Multimedia is one of the few companies who focus on mobile development. They have a line iOS devices. Sampletank definitely needs an update though: sounds great, but UI needs refreshing and they need to create a AUV3 plugin.
Laptop music production used to be what mobile is now. They are feeling the effects of COVID-19 or any impending disaster that challenges dated business models. Mobile is now and the future. 🤦♂️
Who is this OP and why are we entertaining their nonsense?
Wait is this that same guy that got banned, created a new account, and got banned there too?
If you've bought apps from a company and discover
that you don't like their business practices and/or ethics?
Don't buy anything again from them.
Don't support them and carry on.
Simple.
Create music.
It's much more fun.
And yup the A12 CPU's are fun.
I love mixbox, one the best apps I have bought on ios this year
Based on this limited experience of them I think they are great and make amazing products
Will update if that changes
don't have many of their apps, I quite like iGrand and MicRoom
on desktop I have plenty of their plugins and some of them are excellent really, the tapes, Stealth Limiter, Master EQ, the Lurssen, Modo Bass, also some of their AmpliTube stuff for instance, so I would say no, they're definitely not horrible
Flagged.
My personal experience has been really really good with IK customer service.
This is what I feel like when posting this. Except I don't have any issue with Behringer. I own a lot of there stuff and it works well.

IK is fine. Good software, now a bit dated. Decent hardware, with decent capabilities at reasonable cost. All around every company has their Turkeys. For some they live life long enough to become a villain.
... (looks around with matches at hand)
Behringer on the other hand acts like a total douche squad.
I haven't had a lot to do with IK, but I noticed an issue with Mixbox that I was having. I contacted them through their contact form on their website. First I received an automated acknowledgement email and then I received a polite email a couple of days later saying that they were aware of the issue and were fixing it and also gave me some clarification on how to use the interface on one of the plugins. Nothing in that was rude and I was happy to have received a reply as quickly as I did that addressed the issues I had raised.
I think every company deserves to be cut a little slack at the moment.
In the midst of a global pandemic, it’s not easy for any company to operate at anything close to full capacity, including companies that deal with things of actual importance.
And to be honest even in normal times the level of protest here doesn’t seem commensurate with the initial grievance.
To me, SampleTank (iOS) is a flagship of IKM, and it will be very nice to get any word from them about the AU conversion. Korg did the first move with their's Module.
Greetings
This thread is deliberately provocative to get a reaction. Trolling in other words. This forum doesn’t need that.
I have several of their products. They were recommended by a serious musician and I have nothing bad to say about them . And I have had good support from them.
I know a lot of people that happily use their products. You can find bad customer experience reports for any company and collecting the bad reports doesn't necessarily accurately reflect the data. People with bad experiences tend to post disproportionately more. In fact, in this thread you seem to be exhorting people to report bad experiences.
This thread doesn't come across as having been started with fair data collection in mind.
Other than disliking Miroslav Orchestra and getting a refund @ikmultimedia has been totally fine, responsive and enriched my ios possibilities. I guess the OP is taking his cues from current events...
Condemnation without giving evidence.
We haven’t had a hate thread in a while. I guess we were due. All I can say is we’re wasting a good hate opportunity here. So many other great things to hate.
@JoyceRoadStudios ... they gave you MTMs for the same price!! Damn, that’s incredible. I recommended the iLouds... I think you owe me one of those MTMs 😳😉🥳
@LinearLineman ..... I have great respect for you..... but if this thread was calling out Brambos or Beepstreet it would be closed in a minute. But you are the MOD so I respect. I just really dont like the tone of the title and where this was going.
That said: Is "Apple" a horrible company?
Edit: nevermind, it was a different topic. Totally misremembered
@onerez, sorry, I am no longer a moderator.
Sorry Sir......
LOL I didn’t buy directly from IK but from a US retailer, and I was frankly shocked by the “make it right” policy, I think I just got lucky. So it’s been 4 weeks since I ordered the micros and usps still doesn’t know where they are. I think usps has failed hard this holiday season for a myriad of reasons, but the FedEx and UPS stuff had been fine. I have tried redirecting them back to sender since I already have a refund, but they may still show up. It’s nuts. Anyway the retailer didn’t want me to travel to Europe without speakers, so not only did they upgrade me to a pair of MTMs ( it wasn’t 100 percent free, but a minuscule charge all things considering), they also paid over $100 to overnight them to me so they’d arrive in the morning a few hours before my flight. They’re not that small actually, and took up half of my second luggage, but I’m happy I took them. I don’t have much experience with monitors but these sound great even without room calibration. I’m sure they’re more pro than the micros. IK sells a travel case specifically for a pair of MTMs, so I still think they’re travel worthy even if bigger. The only thing about them that I don’t love is that each monitor needs its own power supply whereas the micros need only one. Not a huge deal but makes them a bit less “mobile” if you’re short on sockets. The other thing, which is expected, they don’t come with monitor cables and you need to purchase those separately, but it is a trs-1/4 combo input. I happened to have 2 trs 1/8 cables and 4 trs 1/4 adapters, so it worked out. The micros come with one rca-1/8 cable and you can plug either end into the speaker, so the cable is included, and then a proprietary cable to the passive speaker. But then the interface needs to have RCA out or you’d plug the 1/8 side into the headphone Jack, so it’s weird that you can’t seamlessly take a left and right 1/4 monitor outs from an interface into the micros. So to me the MTMs are more professional in that design, since other high level monitors sold as singles also have dedicated power and expect you to have your own cables. I took on the risk of traveling with them unboxed without testing and will miss the return window, but honestly they sound so good.
A key to a happier life is to do the research before
purchasing the app and then using the app as expected.
If I needed a hammer I wouldn't go looking for a screwdriver.
Agreed.
Agreed.
If it's more expense on the desktop that shouldn't
mean that the iOS versions should be neglected.
That's bad form.
Eventide, a venerable audio company regularly maintains
their iOS apps and are steadily porting many across.
I think obligation is debatable.
I think dedication superseeds that.
If it was about ,'brand image', iK Multimedia
would've sorted this out by now.
There would be minimum to no complaints.
It's a good valid question but it
shouldn't be fought amongst ourselves.
The original question in regards to this thread
wasn't thought out properly but it is still valid.
It has cropped up a couple of times now.
Some of the statements in this thread saying that
they won't buy anything from iK Multimedia again
says a lot to me on a personal note.
I respect their opinions.
This question is something that IK Multimedia needs to answer.
In the interim if you like their apps then by all means buy them
but know full well that they come along with problems.
There are so many choices for apps that it seems easier just to cut ones losses and move on from a company you don’t want to support.

I have been an IK customer since Amplitube 1. I really dislike their customer support system (yes it exists) so I have only ever used it if absolutely necessary. Having said that, in the time I've been a customer, i.e. over a decade, I've had so few problems I can't even recall what I have ever had to contact them about.
I just think if you are going to get so worked up about something, choose something important, like child hunger, environmental destruction. This is not a fly off the deep end level issue.
I haven’t had any functional issues with IK apps on desktop or iOS, and any interaction I have had with Peter, their representative on various forums, has been good.
Are there times I might feel their marketing language is a bit over the top? Sure, but I feel that way about most marketing to be honest. The hardware and software I have used serves its purpose well and sounds good.
I agree that these 2 threads bashing companies and developers are not so productive. @X3LA , if you need help with something, ask here and people will step up, it’s happened historically on this forum more than once. The world is really stressful right now for everyone and supporting each other to make it through is important.
