FAC Alteza: UPDATE: after an increase, FAC Alteza is now 45% off!
My original post was taken by many to be unthoughtful, so I have updated it.
I was originally disappointed when the price of FAC Alteza increased by over 28 percent on December 20th. I thought it was a rather unfortunate time to increase an app's price, when most developers were offering holiday discounts. I suggested the developer should get a "lump of coal" in his stocking as a reminder his optics on pricing could have been better. His products are highly regarded, and I meant in no way to disparage them, however many took exception to my comments as you shall see below.
At any rate, I apologize for any hurt feelings I may have caused.

@SNystrom, I understand how you feel, but Fred has given a lot of love to us iOSians over the years. Maybe he is tired of working for so little. What is he getting? An additional $1.25. Sometimes the Scrooge is on the other foot. That aside, very happy holidays, my friend.
Please make the dev bashing posts stop!! 🤯
Strange choice on dev’s part. Not only is it Christmas, but many people are struggling financially due to COVID related unemployment. The numbers in my city alone are crazy.
Maybe the dev is struggling?
@anickt good point, I hope that’s not the case, but I still think he’d be chasing money away in the long run just because of how the timing is perceived as OP pointed out. I have Alteza, Máxima, Chorus and they are incredible. He deserves to be compensated, just think the timing of the hike could have been better timed.
Oh I know, Mike, and from what I understand his apps are truly excellent (I don't own any of them).
I just think the optics on his decision make it a questionable move.
@anickt: I'm not in any way trashing his products. I just can't for the life of me imagine why he thought Christmas week was the perfect time (in over 300 days of no price increases) to raise prices.
✌🏻
I bet 99% of app buyers don't even look at price history. I am sure the optics are safe.
I dunno, I feel apps are so cheap anyway and 2 bucks is a really insignificant increase. Maybe there was a reason for doing it at that time. Regardless, do we really need to start a thread about this, jeez...
He just announced an end of year promo on IG.
...when Apple is charging 25$ to RENT Croods 2.... RENT!
Sad. Dude doesn’t know own any of his apps and throws shade like this. We have no clue to why he raised his price. But his apps are top notch!!!!!
Hi @FredAntonCorvest... keep making great apps. I have FAC Alteza and think it's worth the
price for a truly inspiring reverb: beautiful, airy spaces... sonically pristine.
See my post a couple up
Could be in preparation for the app store dev charge going from 30% to 15%. 🤷🏾♂️ I already own all his apps and they are really good. Hope he rakes it in in 2021.
@SNystrom ... Do you live in US? If so I will send you a gift card to help Merry your Christmas! 🎁
Onerez is the man, a very generous soul here folks
Hmmm, tempted to start my own dev shitting thread...
Just wanted to wish @FredAntonCorvest and his a happy holiday period, thanks for all you’ve brought to iOS.
😂😂😂
@AudioGus I thought you left IOS?
I just made my best of 2020 vid last night, damn I'm thinking now I should have done a worst of instead 🤣
Please change the thread title. People here keep saying this is a welcoming supportive place and this thread has nothing constructive to add. Devs earn peanuts for there efforts. And people feel like they should shame them?
Chasing devs away from the forum doesn’t seem like good sport to me.
I wager that the Cubasis 3 one year anniversary update tomorrow is going to be so freaking amazing and win me back. Actually I probably will still use CB3 for mastering with those sweet sweet FabFilter plugins I can’t afford on desktop.
I think people are a bit delusional about iOS prices. I was thinking of buying U-He Zebra for desktop. 99 USD at half price. I'm not going to coz I hardly ever use desktop, and I don't don't need every damn synth, seeing how little I actually do music these days
I was looking for a comment on KVR made by Urs, the guy behind U-He, here it is, from earlier this year:
"Our recent survey shows that less than 20% of people also make music on iOS. I reckon the market is a lot less than half the size of desktop music software. That and expected price points of less than a tenth of equivalent desktop software make this market not very attractive to us.
This may change in future, but some developer friends who did iOS tell us to forget about revenues."
I can't say if he's right on all counts, but maybe people need to take a reality check with the prices of iOS apps.
Most definitely.
Yes, I do.
And thank you very much for the most generous offer. That's incredibly kind of you!
I guess after the previous flame posts today, many of you appear to have you hackles up.
Where I was raised, a lump of coal in your stocking was viewed as a subtle hint that you could do better, or you disappointed your parents in some small way. You still got candy and other treats in your stocking, but the coal reminded you that you could be even better.
I guess I should have used some emojis or other ways to make the post appear as harmless as it was originally intended, but unfortunately I thought others would view it as I saw it — forgetting that a lump of coal may have vastly different meanings through the multi-national world that is our wonderful forum.
At any rate, I apologize to those of you who were apparently offended, and wish all of you the safest and most brilliant of holiday seasons!
@SNystrom Done... check PM
Yah I find it nuts that someone starts a thread over a $4 increase over a year. Even crazier that I find entertainment in reading said thread.
Geez, @onerez, you really didn't have to do that. I am truly humbled.
I just realized from your previous posts, that you are a super giving person:

Good on you!
Is there a way I can forward the code to @AudioGus? He perhaps might enjoy it more than me:
🙃
If not, I'll spend an equivalent amount of additional money on yet another FAC app to support Frederick. 🤗
