Thanks. I guess I need to learn how to use the sections in Beatmaker and more of Zenbeats functionality. GarageBand is close to being the completely right tool for this sort of thing for me, but not being able to export the midi and stems conveniently has me looking at other options just to see which apps workarounds are the path of least resistance for me in the long-run.

@BroCoast what buts in the BM3 sections make it a no-go for you?

You can use RouteMIDI app to export MIDI out of GB. It may not export accurately and you may have to make some minor alignment adjustments to notes. All notes get exported but sometimes, the notes are slightly off which is no big deal to edit and realign them.

There was also a Python script introduced here that yanks out MIDI from GB

    Probably a better option.

I've had RouteMIDI do some weird stuff to GB and a few iOS lock ups from using it.

  • Hope the pic is clear. Someone suggested this a while ago somewhere on the net. You needed to have a template in advance or remember to always use your first bank for your sections. Now with the move banks update, you can do it anytime in your process. You just have an empty bank, create empty patterns the length of each section you want in the bank and then rename the patterns: intro, chorus, verse, chorus 2, etc. Not sure if this is what you want, but it was super helpful for me. Wish I could remember who to give credit to.

  • @richardyot thanks for this great suggestion! Exactly what i need to do. I’m working on creating multitrack stems to be played back on an app called Multitracker by
Sebastian Segulla and it really is the tool i was looking for for leading worship with my own created multitrack stems. But I couldn’t figure out how to add my sections and cues in Auria or Zenbeats. I don’t really need to loop unless i have to for now. Just need to have the cues and click track created so the other musicians can follow the song.
With your idea now i can. Thanks for that spark of idea!

You could also do something similar in Auria: create an empty audio or MIDI track, create dummy events, name then, the select one and go to Edit --> Loop To Selection.

The only hitch being of course that Auria doesn't loop record, so if you need that then you're better off in GB.

Glad to hear it! I think this trick works in any DAW that lets you rename section.
