I get the impression these apps are advertisements for lessons. I haven’t dropped the 99 cents so just a guess.
Did you see my post? Hopefully it was helpful in explaining the use (as well as clarifying that a limiter can do what you were asking), I got the impression that you haven’t had to use an spl meter before.
Anyway, for anyone who needs it, the studio six digital audio tools app is great for all sorts of analysis tools. I just have the $20 version and use the fft analysis a lot, as well as the signal generator, but you can add on all sorts of other features like transfer function, smaart analyzer, digital spl meter, etc. At some point I need to get back to learning more about that, but I’m lucky to usually do sound on systems which are permanent installs and have been tuned well to the room.

Way before musicians started wearing earplugs as normal
I had already started wearing earplugs for rehearsals and gigs.
When in pro studios or these days my music room I have the volume set
so that I don’t get ear fatigue which, even with experience , often happens.
That’s why I recommended using the K-system.
I have mine set at K-20 as accurately as possible
and I can always turn down the volume manually.

Absolutely, protecting your hearing is the most important thing you can do as a musician, which I say to every musician I know. Custom earplugs at the very least are a must for gigs, and even if listening to loud playback for an artist in the studio. Custom
In ears for live work are also a must if you do in ears live. The generic headsets may sound fine for a lot of people but they’re going to allow too much sound in, making the person turn the volume of the headset up too loud.
