In what way do you find the MPE implementation lacking?
If only the FingerFiddle app could trigger SWAM stringed instruments.
Agreed, totally worth it. Being able to tweak the harmonics, bow position and bow pressure on the fly can lead to some unreal timbres. I thought they were expensive at first, but when I automated the harmonics control with a step sequence in Drambo, I realized these were the most incredible strings software I've ever used. You can push these far beyond then their 'intended' use. I don't think you'll be disappointed @Nathi94
Disco DSP is on sale right now. OB-Xd AUv3 synth is 50% off at $4.99. For another buck you can get a bundle with all 4 of their apps.

Yea that’s what appeals to me a lot, beeing able to tweak some stuff to change the timbres and also having the dry sound from it without the reverb like in some sample based. I’m not planning writing some classical music so the price is a big high for me. But like you said the control makes it also perfect to pushed into other things
I had the swam strings bundle but refunded it as it sounded like the different instruments were just different octaves. I do have the violin and trumpet and they do sound amazing.
Just wanna demonstrate a few of the sounds you can twist out of the double bass. Some of it sounds so good, distorted and metal to me. You can get super experimental with these.

I remember you use Drambo - messing with the exposed parameters is more fun than it has any right to be.
LK iap's are on sale:
Wow thanks very useful! Yes i have Drambo and seeing this crazy possibilities with mapping parameters sold me on it. Sounds so great😊
Ohhhhhh. That’s a good catch @White
Yea, I definitely recommend CC modulating all the swam instruments, it take them to another level. Definitely try modulating the expression, vibrato depth, vibrato rate.
Nice sounds @Nathi94
Dang, I was this close to pulling the trigger on the Cello 🤌
Now I can’t decide between the cello or the Double Bass! I can only buy one…..
Oh, and I DID purchase the X/Y pad in LK.
I intend on using that on an iPhone that’ll lay right next to my Launchpad Pro MK3 for some sexy expressionisms… 🤙🤙😂
(MIDI CTRL over Bluetooth in AUM FTW!
Thank you once again @Poppadocrock for this thread!
@Poppadocrock oh yes very nice the video is by @aleyas

@Edward_Alexander It started for me with Cello and after hearing the others in the bundle and what modulation can get achieved i knew i want bundle^^ Still a lot of money😬 If you have the Beathawk double bass iap maybe you could go with Cello
Thinking I should get the Double Bass as I already have the GeoSWAM Cello. I know the stand-alone SWAM Cello has a lot more expression features and settings, but… I can probably reach the Cello range with the Double Bass anyway, right???
Hmmm lemme start up BeatHawk and see how much the Double Bass IAP is, that might be the way to go.
Eh… the BeatHawk DB is just a collection of samples isn’t it?
Unfortunately yes and not much control over the sound. 4 Categories and the Acoustic bass has 12 variations in it.
LK: Does the wired connection only work when the device is plugged straight into the computer? I’m not getting it to work through a USB hub or iConnect interface? Okay my phone shows up through my hub but my iPad does not. I am seeing the connection via WiFi.
Wow I thought this app would be good but it crackles like CRAZY whenever I use it. I don't get this problem with a lot of apps. I also bought FAC drumkit and it literally crashes every single time I start building a drum patch. Bad luck I guess, cuz I get very few issues with other apps!

BeatHawk Strings sound pack can't compare with SWAM solo strings.
BeatHawk Strings is for ensemble and is very good for that whereas SWAM is for soloing. But I guess you already know that.
Regarding string solo, I still think Finger Fiddle is unbeatable. This is the virtual instrument in the world that come the closest to a real cello/violin, thanks not only to its excellent sound engine but also its natural playing surface. Almost everything is thought to react like a real cello. You can do tremolos the way you want, attack notes the way you want, pizzicato, etc. all this without having to switch to another "playing mode".
Now for SWAM, don't get me wrong. They are excellent and offer a full integration as AUv3 into a DAW. I bought the bundle and, thanks to the power of my new iPad M1 and a dedicated Streambyter script, I managed to create a full chamber orchestra (3 instruments per sections) and it sound incredibly good
Yea i pulled the trigger on the bundle and i love the quality and expression of this apps. Beathawk and Swam working well together
I didn’t know of Fingler fiddler, seems like a good app but auv3 in this case was a must for me.
Hmmm, I wonder if _ Aphelian_ was what was causing my crackles in my latest project now. I just assumed it was the beta VS Visual Synthesizer. I was kinda surprised that my new M1 iPad PRO was throwing in the white towel so soon! Maybe Aphelian is the culprit!
If anyone is curious, I created a piece using Aphelian’s standalone IAA app in AUM driving 4 AU synths. Added a few extra bells and whistles for good measure. Ended up having to dial back the visuals as I was starting to get some crackles and pops.

+4 on FingerFiddle. It is amazing. You definitely have to learn how to perform it. But really takes advantage of 3D Touch and the playing surface compared to others.
Having played a real violin for years, I agree FingerFiddle is the real deal. It is awkward to coordinate the correct finger positions on the virtual neck, but if you can approach some level of mastery of the app, it blows away anything you can get out of SWAM. I’m surprised that particular developer hasn’t done more with his instrument modeling expertise.
