@Charlesalbert : tnx for the nice words ! I know some others are already making vids and I am currently still pretty busy releasing the Mac version (and probably some bugfixes or small feature additions for the v1.1).
Does this have a random patch generator?
Does this have a ramped random LFO wave?
@jolico : no, but what do you mean exactly with random patch ?
the LFO's have a random mode which is generating 2 random values per cycle random S&H), what do you mean with random ramped ?
Great start, after I played around and started to understand it more I’m really liking it, what I’d like to see is a better preset browser, where we can have folders or categories, pads, leads, Bass, etc.
Also it would be great if you could load and save presets for each layer, I think that would make it even more powerful when creating presets globally
There are a couple of other things but it may just be that I haven’t figured them out yet, like with the arp, I really like how each layer has its own time division, but is there a way to make it up go down or random etc, or have higher octaves ?
This sounds like a LayR but with a more gradual leaning curve. Am I right?
Woodman has a bundle ive never seen before as well... 4 apps - Woodman’s Mixing Tools $24.99
https://apps.apple.com/us/app-bundle/woodmans-mixing-tools/id1453013646
@Strizbiz : yes a better preset browser popped up already :-)
good idea to save presets per layer, have to think about that one.
The ARP is really basic right now, I put more time in the sequencer (and lot's of other stuff) but there is only 24 hours in a day :-)
I'll put it on the TO DO list.
Not just being contrary for the sake of it - would prefer that there not be presets per layer. I find that this sort of thing makes it overly complicated. Just my opinion.
Really enjoying WoodSynth.
@ALB : tnx ! and for the presets this becomes interesting or should I say harder for the developer to know what to do as there seem to be different opinions about this :-)
In that case I'll vote for presets per layer and presets for a performances/layer combinations?.
That would be like Korg's Programs & Combis.
This since it's quite handy to re-use layer presets/sounds in other 'performances' or what ever they are called![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
(I've just eyed thru the manual as I'm on a 'diet' when it comes to apps and my iPad is 'full' so I need to continue the housekeeping).
Cheers!
For those that don’t know Perforator can do CC messages - so there’s one avenue of “drawing” LFOs and Envelopes.
Yeah, but how do you get perforator to re start it's cycle on note on?
(This would be needed for proper 'envelopes' and key-synced LFOs etc.).
So far SunVox and Drambo are my prime picks for these types of experiments.
In SunVox I can just use the sampler as the modulation source, draw a waveform and use Sound2ctl to modulate just about any parameter. No midi out in SunVox AUv3 yet though.
In Drambo I can use the graphical modulators and Flexi Sampler to do the same.
Cheers!
Point(s) taken! I just was giving a quick example using software peeps more than likely already have.
There’s also CCPal and Ribn for the non AU purest out there![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Random patch generator:
Push a button and all knobs, sliders etc. jump to random positions.
Ramped random LFO:
S&H LFO with “smoothing” (no stepping)
I understand why this might be thought of as/might be useful - no denying that. For myself, I just see it as a bloat to preset implementation that I would need to re-learn every time I use it - much how the user experience for LayR is for me. So much so that I almost never use it. But hey, that’s just me and I may be in minority here.
Good lookin out...just got the Gate for free. So satisfying to complete a free bundle.
@woodman Any chance of having a “int” preset in the next update also there seems to be a bit of delay in choosing factory under presets and opening of the menu also it’s sluggish to move down or up in the menu not if this is down to cloud saving rather than local machine.
@jumpercollins : I don't see it being sluggish on my iPad (which does not mean that there can't be a problem).
what exactly did you mean with "int" preset ?
(Delete)
@woodman Initialise Preset so you can build from scratch.
@jumpercollins : does "Reset to Default" in the preset menu not what you want ?
I’m actually finding this a great synth to learn on and to build patches with from scratch so well laid out great stuff @woodman
Also loving the sample option.
Actually Layr has presets per layer and it’s not complicated at all imo, it makes it easier to come up with overall presets because you don’t always have to start from scratch. And Layr has a LOT more than 4 layers. say you want a layer to be a pad, another to be strings, then a brass synth one another, you can just load a preset for each layer, and also if you come up with a great sound when programming a layer you can use it again easily.
Yes, I know and know that it can be useful. Where we differ is that I don’t find it easy to use. But that’s fine.
Sorry if I’m being stoopid, but is there a “hold” option? So I can play a key and then leave it playing?
I am stoopid too 😉
@Kashi , @Pianisto : there are no stupid questions :-) yes and no : there is no hold button but WoodSynth supports the normal sustain pedal (midi CC 64). However there is a bug in the sustain pedal which is fixed and will be in the next update (in a week or so)
Thanks![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Yes, Thanks @woodman ! A hold button would be ace at some point in the future though! I'm loving this synth. Having tons of fun with the sequencer, but running out of fingers to play with filter cutoffs etc...
