Question for the MPE controller owners out there: is this actually MPE or is it "MPE"?

  • Version 1.3 is out:

  • Good man that Woodman, always on top of things. I bet his maple syrup is divine.

  • Can’t figure out where the hold button is?!

  • Scrub that. I RTFM... :D

An unconventional synth is this, well worth to dive in and investigate, with time it's opening up ... it differs from Layer, or other synths at that, actually it's quite special, strange and intriguing sound-wise, especially when tweaking around here&there & suddenly you come into acid or dubstep or ambient territory, the new presets are welcome, and after initial doubts I've become convinced of it, and like to congratulate them on Woodsynth, rare in the friendlyness of sound (juce engine, huh ;) - and how nice you got the filters/overtones) and the interest it is continuing to attract after time, the sequencer&arp are different too, maybe they could send MIDI out in the future, ... best wishes (-:

  • @ccs2 : tnx a lot ! and midi out is added on the TO DO list ...

  • Really nice update, I’ve been reaching for it a lot lately for just about anything. The filter is really fantastic, it sounds a ton like my hardware moog and I always know what to expect when I tweak it

    Thank you

  • Version 1.4 is out now:

    • Added multi out busses in AUv3 (bus 1 -> mix , bus 2 -> layer 1 , …, bus 5 -> layer 4).
    • Added layer Lock buttons : allows to keep sequencer, arpeggiator or chord running without changing when playing notes in another layer.
Also the Glide and Legato function are locked, the keyboard mods (pressure, etc) are not locked.
    • Added midi send to DAW (was only to external) + on/off controls for sending to external and/or DAW in Advanced Settings.
    • Added Sequencer note-on/off midi send (set midi chan in Advanced Settings).
    • Browsing to a preset or sample file outside the WoodSynth folder will now copy the file into the WoodSynth folder.
    • “add preset” of a (modified) factory preset will drop the “factory/“ so that the preset is not saved in the factory folder.
    • When iCloud is NOT used, the standalone app will copy the presets and sample files into a shared (App Group) folder to make them available for the AUv3 plugins (copy is done only when starting up the standalone app)
  • Version 2.0 is out now:

  • Great update, makes me more and more interested in this syth.

  • There’s not a lot of info out there regarding WoodSynth. Anyone have it who could compare it to broadly similar synths like Mela 2?

  • Never been able to understand well all the sections. It is a nice synth but the UI panic me every time I try to design some patches😂

  • @Charlesalbert : what exactly is panicing you ? I can always try to improve it ...
    rgds,

  • I'm trying to locate the presets for Woodsynth. I have it loaded on an iPad. Have opened both the standalone and the AUv3 versions, but can't find the presets. Any help wold be appreciated. Peace.

When you open the presets window “copy factory presets” should load them for you

I’m very impressed with this synth. Been using since the day it came out and it has grown a huge amount since then. The developer has been crazy fast about any and all fixes and changes.

While you can go super deep, it’s also very simple unless you want to go further. It has a super unique sound character. Sounds very analog.

This is the ios synth equivalent of watching one of those terrifying Boston Dynamics robot dogs digging a grave. So upsetting.

Ok. I found the option in the AUv3. Thanks.

  • @ExAsperis99 : just that you know : I didn't make or ask for this vid :-) I am sure all of you can do better ...

    Woodman

Oh, I know you didn't! Someone with your aesthetic eye would be incapable, I imagine. I was just hunting to hear the sounds in a video of less than 30 minutes and stumbled upon that one that seems to exist in the uncanny valley.

  • @ExAsperis99 : here is a little vid I made to put on my website. It is showing some of the presets in WoodSynth. I'll put some better sound fragments on Soundcloud the coming weeks.

    Woodman

  • That sounds super interesting.

  • Version 2.3 is out now:

    • Added Sub73 mode : bass note generates more harmonics (generated by OSC2&3) than higher notes played at the same time.
    • MidiLearn values are now scaled (non-linearly) according to the rotary control, e.g. filter frequency gets much more steps in the lower frequencies.
    • Added LFO1&2 Depth and LFO1 frequency to the Modwheel and ExpressionPedal destinations.
    • Fixed sustain pedal bug : when releasing the pedal, also notes still held were released.
    • Fixed lost midi messages (notes on/off) when “Midi from DAW” was on.
  • I bet this sounds great. Does it have randomization?
