😭nooo again. Another app disappeared. Apple should give us the option to backup and install them from local storage.

    iMazing has this feature.

Not exactly. It will let you download apps you own from the App Store if the app is available, but it won’t let you backup/retrieve an app from local storage.

Yes it does. I do it almost every day.

"Download & Install Apps to iPhone or iPad from Mac & PC

Manage your iOS apps your way. Enjoy a powerful tool to download your apps (.ipa) to your computer, and install them to your iOS devices. Save and restore your game progress or app documents and settings."

That is what I said. It downloads the ipa from the store and lets you store them and later install them. It will not let you rip the ipa of an app from the device itself. It gets it from store. My point was just that iMazing is downloading the app from the store and not pulling it from your device.

We seem to be speaking across each other, or a semantics problem or something else. I purchase an app from the store. I back it up physically on the computer. I can then delete the app from the device, and am able reload it from the computer, NOT from the store. Is this not what the OP is referring to?

The language that I was responding to made it sound like iMazing can backup an app (its .ipa from a device directly). It may seem like a fine distinction but what iMazing can do (which is helpful) is download a copy of an iOS app from the App Store to a computer. It is important to understand that the copy it stores is being downloaded from the App Store and not from the device. This is important because if the app stops being available in the App Store, iMazing can’t make a local copy from your device.. So, you have to make sure to retrieve with iMazing while it is still in the store.

Maybe , that was clear to you, but I know that some people think iMazing can pull apps from an iPad if they disappear from the store and it cannot.

Again, this is not true. Audiobus 2 is not available from the App Store, correct? I just installed it from a computer backup. Do you own iMazing? Have you tried it?

Audiobus 2 is still available from the App Store to those that purchased it. The local copy on your computer came from the App Store at the time you downloaded it. It didn’t come from your device. That is all I am saying. Once iMazing has downloaded an ipa the copy is local and can be restored at will. The only point I was making is that iMazing gets that ipa initially from the store not the device.

  • Who's on first?

  • Anyway, back to WaveStorm, I’m not surprised, it was pretty crashy every time I tried it. Maybe he pulled it down and is planning a new app? I don’t know, but I bought all of the iaps in wavestorm like a big dummy.

I’m in same boat. Despite having all Iaps, all wave tables sound same

I am just stating that this is possible. All other wordiness unnecessary. @espiegel123 is a valuable source to the community, and appreciate his responses.

I was getting some different sounds out of it, but could barely touch anything without it crashing.

Same here! I contacted the official website, if I hear back I’ll report back. I encourage all other supporters of this APP to contact the Dev. It’s not right that we pay our hard earned cash on APPS only to have them go abandon/ghostware. APPLE should give us a refund for all pulled & paid as well as reimburse our IAPS too! -ED

  • Will definitely be good to hear back if you’ve contacted the developer.

This close after he had a sale and all that, I totally agree. Would be nice to get that money back.

  • This is a temporary tragedy I hope. I can find in my silly DL list either, sometimes I cant re get apps oddly mainly due to if I accidentally update my iPad which killed like 5 off my fav apps.

  • I can't find the scythe either now omg. Well there is the other company's scythe on the bright side but thats super weird that Bothe apps are gone. I weep for thee all who deleted for space saving!

The Scythe that became WaveStorm was simply renamed. You won’t find it under that name. WaveStorm should be in the purchased list

  • The dev may simply not be making enough sales to keep the app on the App Store.
    I noticed that it’s a U.K based company and the Lockdown-Brexit combination
has hit a lot of businesses hard here in the U.K.
Considering he pulled ,’Scythe for iPhone’, from the App Store and
eventually rebooted ,’Scythe’, as ,’Wavestorm’, and as an Auv3?
I shall remain patient and hopeful that it will only be
a matter of time before it returns to the App Store.

If it doesn’t then I hope the dev finds new and challenging goals.

  • The dev just replied on my e-mail. He is not able to maintain Wavestorm anymore, that's why it disappeared from the App Store. Such a shame, I liked the app so much.

I can understand developers pulling away from iOS app development. Even if they don't add any new features, they always have to keep track of what destructive surprises Apple regularly introduce with new iOS versions. Their track record of breaking things (and more so in the audio world) is remarkable, and then devs have to pay $100 each year for being allowed to develop and officially distribute iOS apps.

Maybe he can give/sell it to another developer. I really believe Wavestorm is worth it.

Today I got the same and further said to apply for refund. I sent refund request to apple as I just bought all IAPs on 23rd November, 20.

I replied to him if he would consider to sell or give it away to a developer who wants to continue and maintain Wavestorm. You'll never know.....

  • Would be good if someone picked it up, as it’s pretty unique.

  • He can open source it through github. So interested ones can pickup the development

The bummer here is that WaveStorm is less stable than what it replaced and he abandoned it so quickly after the new release.

I also got the same message & very sad to see it go. I bought my app a long while ago and I could not find a way to find any of my iap purchases made to even request a refund. Bummer! ED

Today I received mail from apple and said that if my purchase is made within 60 days, they would consider for refunds. But I lost the refund in 8 days ( 68 days)

  • Even if I was eligible (I’m definitely not), I appreciate the developer’s efforts, so glad to support him for putting this together.

It’s a shame that things didn’t work out.

  • As a software engineer, I totally understand the problems of dealing with the ever-ending parade of platform changes and bugs. If you aren’t bringing in revenue, it’s really tough to justify continuing to maintain a complex piece of software. However, as a consumer, I cannot stand the mobile ecosystem. The idea that software I have purchased is so ephemeral that it can literally disappear at any time is incredibly frustrating. At least on desktop software tends to work for an incredibly long time, and you don’t have to deal with walled gardens that allow all traces of an application to disappear. I wish the developer well. Hopefully they can find a soft landing for their work so that it can continue to live.
