Not software, but @SNystrom check out the Gleeman!

What a weird looking synth. Guess I have a YouTube rabbit hole to go down, really curious what that thing sounds like

Shoom... it's a big X-Y pad layered over a massively expressive synth. Great Presets to get you going fast.

Gestrument Pro with coding design from the AUMeister @j_liljedahl. Sounds designed by a musical academic. Give this to anyone and they will get lost making music without any instructions.

To adapt the ideas of Gestrument to your synths just get TC-Data... lots of presets but there's a configuration capability to get deep into UI design. It makes MIDI so there's 40 years of gear to control out there.

GeoShred... now with SWAM for delicious solos based on a true story.

  • Always liked how Audio Damage’s Phosphor 3 looks. Of course beauty’s in the eye of the beholder.

  • I like the visualizer modules in MiRack a lot, it can get kind of trippy with some setups and gets me real immersed in the music I’m making

  • I am a great lover/admirer of Mitosynth, and we've had some good times together down the years, but I fear iOS14 has caused it considerable ill...

  • I love all the sugarbytes apps, the noise synth Hexaglyphics looks (and sounds) really cool, sound/synth/field-scaper, Jamm Pro, but hands down as far as a visual experience Mazetools Soniface takes the cake as it is a visually driven synth. I have never tried them but the Tc 11/ performer etc...look pretty similar to soniface. Audulus looks pretty neat too but it’s over my head.

    @GeorgeL909

Only about 30 Pentaphonics and 20 Pentaphonic Clears were ever made.

  • as far as on screen synths, the more skeumorphic, the less I like it.

bleass, drambo, spacecraft, spectrum, and the like are nice. imo bleass and spectrum plugins looked much better before gradients were added.

It's so weird and interesting! But in a very charming way. So cool.

apesoft mood. Love the black color scheme, simple, perfect for software.

Also love the classics: the Moogs and OB-Xd.

For hardware, naturally the classic look of the Dave Smith/Tom Oberheim OB6 does it for me.

It helps a lot if any app is visually appealing and sort of bridges the gap that is missing between using actual hardware.

I’ve given up on going deep into 10s of apps because they’re ugly. These just didn’t click with me completely initially (there are a handful of ugly apps I use and still love), but that they were ugly was the primary reason I never went deeper to give them a full chance. Yes, SugarBytes Cyclop wins this dubious award.

Philosophically speaking, I believe you CAN judge a book by it’s cover with approximately 80% accuracy. That goes for all things in life, including people.

  • And for the people looking into TC-11, it’s a genius idea but the synth sounds tinny and crappy. Maybe better off going with TC-Data, but warning there is a very large learning curve.

I find it truly astounding that in a post asking "Coolest looking or visually inspiring synths,"

Only one user actually posted an image to support their case!

    Very disappointing...

    Good one @SNystrom !

Synthmaster One is surprisingly well layed out. Everything on one screen. Very fast FX editing that end up in radical shaping of the sounds. Also quite visually appealing.
