DrumPerfect Pro recent update: new features and new packs
Dear all,
We are thrilled to announce a new ( free ) update for DrumPerfect Pro v 3.2.
Many new features to stimulate your creativity as well as two brand new packs, with a content rarely seen in other virtual drum apps.
But first the engine/UI changes:
- Longpress Load now allows for multiple files import from Files locations.
- Added Normalize and Invert option for samples.
Individual instruments in AUv3 Player can be optionally removed ( mute ) from the main mix.
Individually connected instruments in IAA are automatically removed from the main mix.
- Tunable dynamics curve per sample group.
- Added Mix-mode option to each sample group, where instead of interpolation between levels, up to 3 samples of the same level are mixed. ( great for layering samples i.e snares, kicks, etc... )
- Added Random option to each sample group to randomly select a sample group for playing.
- 24-Bit rendering option added.
- Added support for large audio buffer size (4096).
- Pitch layers in patterns now support pitch changes from -/+ 1 octave. Backwards compatible with older patterns.
- Pitch-velocity slider optionally steps in semi-tones or in cents on longpress. ( combine melodic and non-melodic instruments in the same pattern... )
- GM Midi mapping of stock kits.
- Added a midi map editor to Kit view with copy/paste between kits.
- Some UI refinements ( larger buttons, etc... )
- Fixed a bug where clearing song and patterns in Song view left ghost images of the old patterns.
- Fixed a bug that could cause a crash on importing zip-archives.
- Fixed a memory leak in autosave.
- Other bug fixes.
Now, the IAP packs:
Two instruments often requested: the cajón, the handpan.
CF1 Cajón Flamenco Volume 1
Content of patterns/songs: Rumbas, Bulerias, Fandangos, Tangos, Soleares, Sevillanas, Boleros, Bossa Nova, Samba, Brazil grooves, Funk, Pop, Rock, etc...
This one has 3 cajóns kits ( Hands, Brush and Bass Cajón )
HP1 Handpan Visions Volume 1
Content of patterns/songs: various songs, ballad, jig, raga, improvisations, groovy tracks, etc...
Have fun!
Some audio demos on Soundcloud to be posted soon.

Wow, that's a really impressive update, thanks 😊👍
Listen to the packs demos
very very nice improvements, yet the midi-map editor looks upside down to me, with lowest notes on top and highest instruments at bottom…
£190 and £130 ? Think I’ll pass.
Yep. That's expensive.
Sorry for the stress! Thanks for pointing it out. Corrected.
Pls check on your app. Affordable prices.
Prices on the photos are not the ones in your country.
Corrected.
Serious update to a serious app. Congrats.
Love it! Picked up the Handpan. 👍
Love the handpan!
Hi,
Was kinda excited about per sample group velocity tuning. I have DPP and in making my own kits for playing on my ekit ,this new feature is one I really needed.
Alas it now requires iOS 13+....and my iPad air 1 can't do 13. Wished they had noted that in the update notes. So @Gilbert ,what is the feature that requires ios13?
Thanks
I’ve been waiting for a decent sampled cajon on iOS since my first iPad, many years ago! Love the bass kit especially. And really well created patterns. DPP comes alive for me with this update. Thanks Gilbert and Marinus!
Got it
A new original track featuring HP1 ( handpan ) in context ( groovy modal loop in D min ). Hope it can serve to inspire users of this new instrument. Let me know your feedback.
Thanks @Gilbert They sound wonderful.
What is the best pack for ambient/drone music?
Thanks @Pierre.
Well, so far all the packs have been drums and percussions oriented. However the new features in DPP offer vast possibilities for ambient soundscape. I might produce a pack in the coming months. Please let me know what you would like to see.
To be more specific......I like making ambient tracks/soundscapes with my Waldorf Iridium and Hydrasynth, but without any drums till now. I would like to add some drums to my tracks, what pack(s) would be the best companion?
Will be more percussion soundpacks?
Bump
These 2 recent Sound Packs are great. The Handpan is very useful for me. Some of the samples ring and have a nice gentle attack so playing those notes rapidly generates a nice
ambient drone with a metallic sheen. Using it for drums instantly creates a World Music vibe.
There are also some really percussive slaps and taps that can substitute for snares, cowbell or wood blocks.
Sample some of these into Koala and you can play them in a scale or change the pitch and generate your own patterns.
This is the deepest drum sample app with controls for the smallest details. Patterns, song forms and live playing modes too.
What kind of percussion pack would suit your work?
Please notice that contrary to, let's say the excellent app Beathawk, DrumPerfect Pro packs are not just audio sounds/loops. It contains hundreds of patterns very detailed and authentic, that are not mere standard midi files.
They are specifically designed using all the wealth of features of DPP engine, to make the music sound as close as real (top) musicians playing.
Humanizing, probability, random parts, random sample groups, linked sets to name just a few.
And by the way, if you feel a bit creative do you know that you can control ALL the Beathawk sample packs in using DPP as a midi out sender in Audiobus?
You can check the tutorial I made ( before pandemic...) of DPP playing BH drum kit.
A simple rock pattern of DPP driving BeatHawk drum kit.
There are two main paths: percussion and/or drum kit.
You can find in these packs a vast choice of sounds and rhythms ( and ready made songs that could be a starting point for new tracks )
My playlist recommendation to match ambient tracks ( by order of preference ):

Good luck!
I don't claim to speak for the developer, but specific program features aren't always what's dependent on an iOS version, but, rather the underlying libraries, API calls, classes and objects used to produce features that are introduced in later iOS versions. Each major OS version introduces new features that can be called to make adding features easier. In some cases features that weren't possible in previous releases are introduced, but often it's just plumbing that can work better. Sooner or later things start to be introduced that are attractive enough to make it worthwhile to up the minimum version supported.
Also, supporting older versions becomes more and more difficult as time goes on. Developers can't usually have a bunch of non-upgraded hardware around to do testing on, and beta testers with those versions become harder come by. So, they have to resort to Xcode's simulators. For the most part these seem to be pretty good, but for touch-based apps aren't ideal as they run on a non touch-screen Mac. They also take a lot of storage and a lot of time to download and test with.
If you're interested, take a look at some of the release notes for various versions. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ios-ipados-release-notes
You don't need to understand the technical details much to see that there are substantial changes between OS versions. Programmers have to deal with these all the time, and each supported version introduces potential for issues and incompatibilities.
Where is that tutorial? On the DPP Youtube channel there are only two tutorials, (not including the ones demoing IAPs*) that are about a year old and one is about importing the player and the other about building kits/patterns. There's a third one but that one is 5 years old so I'm assuming that's not the one as the Pandemic started a year ago. Nothing about running another app like Beathawk.
Please include a link.
*IAPs I can listen to: within the app (Store).
That's right, not on Youtube.
Not a video tutorial...an Audiobus one.
However it might be a good idea to make a video about it.

Thanks. Yeah, why not. I watched the import patterns (append/merge) one three times before I understood how to do it .
Thanks for the update @Gilbert !
Thank you for being faithfull also in
those who have followed you since
V.1 and know what a quality app is.
Drumperfect Pro is absolutely unique ! Cheers, JohnBa
Yes I love DrumPerfect and the Handpan is awesome!
