Impressive knowledge @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr , is this something you’ve studied or just picked up along the way ?

I’m just a beginner, but I took singing lessons in Dhrupad and khayal for three or four years. Can’t sing too well, but it did wonders for my sense of intonation. I spent four decades trying to master jazz harmony, but these days I am strictly modal.

  • Hopefully a simple question….is there a way to filter midi input to, say, just note on/off and modulation? I’m using a Chorda for input, but there’s so much data going out that everything goes haywire. Thank you.

    SOLVED: Mosaic, MIDI Filter preset.

GeoShred MIDI-IN is listening to all MIDI messages that is receives. It only responds to those messages that are mapped to a specific preset's design. Usually this means Pitch Bend, CC74, Channel Pressure, whatever CCs the control surface is mapped to and Program Change.

That being said, in your current MIDI configuration you could create a "MIDI Remapping" filter to map the controls that you wish to mask to "Blocked". You can create as many of these filters as you wish. See this image:

Thanks for the info, @moForte . I noted in a previous post that using a Mozaic and “midi-filter-with-note-on-off-filter” from patchstorage does a pretty good job of making the Chorda/Geoshred combo playable. Not perfect, but alright. Notably, the above patch was created for the Orba…I recall there was an Orba MIDI Configuration in GS, but don’t see it there now, alas. I’ll look into your suggestion.

EDIT: thanks @McD for the patch.

  • Follow up to the previous post.
Set up a new MIDI Configuration in GeoShred standalone and blocked cc112. All good!
However when I load the new config in the AUV in Apematrix…well, the big problem is the Chorda is sending data that changes the presets, rapidly—this only happens when I use the “pads” that send channel pressure and cc74. There’s a strum feature on the chorda that only sends note on/off, and the -rest stays put, no change. Hope this makes sense, as I am learning as I go. In any case, here is a capture of the midi out from the Chorda into Apematrix when pressing a pad. I believe the Chorda is similar to the Artiphon Orba. Thanks again @moForte (and @McD for the Mozaic patch.

The Orba is straight ahead MPE. The presets for the are in the setlist "Artiphone Orba 2".

You DO have to program the Orba 2 using it's configuration program. Look at this application note video:

I'm not following what the problem is. This looks like a perfectly reasonable MIDI Stream. Can you describe what is happening?

BTW, CC112 is can be used used as a backdoor for Panic and CC115 can be used is used as a back door for program change. This because many DAWs don't pass Panic (CCs 120-127) or Program Change. You can just turn these off in the MIDI configuration.

This is described in the help system under "MIDI In"
