hm ... I can understand that to a certain extent.
beatcutter definitely needs a longer familiarization period, reading the manual is also not a bad idea ...
The TRIG settings in particular have to be taken into account! It is also important to fix certain parameters in the TMPL menu with an "X" so that the TRIG & INPUT settings do not change with every "randomize" (!)
I think the sonic results that can be achieved with the app speak for themselves - I can make compromises with the user interface ... it's just an app that you have to learn to "master" it
i really can’t see any point in criticizing an app you don’t use when you see it’s been updated and some people are excited about it. i’m not attacking anyone here, it just seems a bit off.
I can tell that it’s great and there’s amazing stuff in there, I just regret that I’m not smart enough / can’t find the time /energy to get my head round it...
UI choices by a developer which some find unappealing are valid criticisms because they are about personal taste and ease of use. If these UI choices are not an issue for some (or most) users, then great. Everyone has an opinion.
there’s no way beatcutter will get any clearer in its UI, it was designed to be the way it is, for better or for worse. i’m not happy with it too. i guess we have to move on with it. and if some of us are going to stick with it we better share some knowledge about it. but a lot of this thread is about how bad it is. also just an opinion.
Very much appreciated update!
Hey, I’ve been addicted to this new feedback feature for the last three days. It’s really next level!
In the in-app manual under feedback, Igor has a detained suggested instructions on what to try. It’s very easy… just 3 or 4 steps. After you do that you’ll get what’s going on. Magnificent experimental exploration 🙂 (basically what’s in the previous video post)
I don't know if this is a bug or not because I know the app well to think it should work but here's my problem:
The Sequencer Bus mode isn't changing even though I have all Template parameters set to randomize every 4 cycles. Everything else changes as it should but the Sequencer Bus mode does not change. This worked in a previous version.
Am I missing something?
Beatcutter cant be state saved nor via app.
Sample file errors.
Contact the dev
Whats the email Gav?
All beatcutter saves gone.
Sent message.
Were juat going to sample whilst making songs but would be better if you can recall projects.
Igor said will sort issue.
Its nothing bad. Not anything to do with state saving.
Its Audioshare. Either audioshare or how Beatcutter imports audioshare.
Fixed with importing via files instead.
Which is probably in the description anyway.
Import any file etc.
Thought I understood beatcutter but theres automation. All settings just keep moving. The matrix. All faders etc.
Is this a mode?
All parameters move and the template numbers are also automated re-sequenced.
Ah man, to be honest, last time I opened beatcutter I realised I'd forgotten so much I just couldn't be bothered learning it again lol. Sure I remembered enough to dial things in randomly, lock certain parameters that I didn't want to be randomised, and some other things, but other aspects were just going to be more time consuming to relearn than I was willing to tolerate. I'd say just wait for Glitchscaper, it's a lot more accessible.
Cool..
I didnt know parameters move lol.
Glitchscaper should be better then.
Cheers Gav.
On the TMPL set all parameters with {Auto} to 0(zero) while setting stuff up. Before doing a random(instant) replace all those zeros with X. It's in the manual. Unfortunately this is not enough and depending on your input things change on that page (input) and you have to be aware of that and ready to correct those input settings. Might be a bug, I don't know
I was just working on an AUM setup with radio*4 as input to BC (and SpaceFields) that I thought I might share, we'll see how far I get.
Cheers Pxlhg.
Upload vid.
See what you saying. 0 for autos on the tmpl page otherwise its like another automation from there.
.
No, I've never seen anything on the interface moving like you say. Sounds like midi automation which I naver tried with BC.
@sigma79 loads of the pages have automation options. If you click on 'auto' at the top of most sliders (eg look at the sliders on the 'Proc' tab) a window will open up where you can set the lfo type, rates etc manually. As pxlhg said you also have to be careful when randomising about X-ing out things you don't want to be randomised - especially the input sources. Understanding the input sources is the single most important thing for getting sound, but yeah, it's very important to understand the triggers page too.
I mean, I did enjoy figuring out the app in the weeks after it came out, it was just quite a lot of work. At times it was really fun, at others it was super frustrating. Your mileage may vary!
Gav. Pxlhg.
This is what im saying.
Iv got a patch saved thats moving faders and knobs but also making the tmpl go mad.
edit.
Its actually a mode. A privileged patch save.
More variation I guess.
Cool for sampling ( without external reverb perhaps )
