  • Not to argue or ruin anyone's day, just a personal opinion--I actually like the color scheme of the current plug-ins and don't much like the brown in @Crabman's scheme. I don't want to change the current color scheme, but have no problems if you decide to do both. :-)

I don't think he was saying it should be brown, but was rather giving a quick example of the overall effect of a darker color scheme... which I also would be very appreciative of. I am usually making music in very low or no lighting, and bright interfaces are a horrible thing in those situations... you end up momentarily blinded after looking at them. I love the AUFX line for the simple dark interface that is clearly and easily visible in both bright and low light, without killing your night vision.

  • Get your self a good pair of transition lenses;) I like the scheme and work in candle light usually.

  • Not a big deal but I would also appreciate a dimmer skin. 'Skinning' as an option would be too much. Just pick an alt set of darker colors and present it as take it or leave it! I toggle between light and dark of http://ethanschoonover.com/solarized in vim pretty regularly dependent on context and mood. A pair of great color sets and some cool color science behind it to boot. It's open source! :)

  • WoodGrain! ShagCarpet! Marble! SandStone! Red like Mars! Okay I'm sorry, I got too excited. Seriously Crystalline has an incredible sound from what I've heard so far and it's an Instabuy for me. If the color is too bright I'll just lay a Kleenex on top of it or something. :-). It would be a cool idea however, to be able to set a color scheme for your various apps based on your musical mood at the time. Never thought of that until now.

Everyone is going to have a different preference here, I work with my iPad in the dark quite often and have never been blinded by my apps or any others with brighter colors, but then I don't run my iPad at full brightness.

It's funny how these things go, when Echo Pad had a darker color scheme I frequently got requests for "brighter, more colors!". Naturally, as soon as the 1.8 update came out with a slightly brighter interface, I had people contacting me asking "why'd you change it? I preferred the dark interface!"

I'll take an option to toggle between two color schemes into consideration, it's a good idea, but I can't promise anything at this point. Priority for me right now is finishing MIDI implementation for Crystalline, Stereo Designer, and Swoopster. The 1.1 updates for all 3 should hopefully come out mid-late May.

    Just a general observation:

In the 'olden days' there was a veritable industry in 'customization' programs that could change just about any aspect of an OS. Tremendous fun could be had in changing fonts, icons, colors, sounds and widgets at the whim of the user, or loading themes or skins to create one's own look for the system, and this would often carry over into third-party programs as well.

That seems to have fallen by the wayside almost completely-these days one can change maybe the desktop background or the general size of the fonts, and sometimes one can install a high-contrast theme for the visually impaired...but hey, whatever did happen to system customization?

  • Please don't get me wrong - I could give a shit about the UI so long as they keep sounding like they do. I remember the UI crankiness on discchord when Echo Pad came out. No doubt, design matters but the current design is solid. An alternate darker scheme would be great but it would only be gravy.

  • +1 @syrupcore. I totally agree and if we really cared about the looks, we would buy pictures instead of music apps. I think however, that syrupcore tried to secretly place a suggestion in your subconscious to make the alternate color scheme the color of gravy (dark gravy). Lol
All I want is a quick approval from Apple. And man I love Stereo Designer! That thing plus Final Touch and you've got some unbelievable mixes!

  • Gravy, booby...

Just to make it clear,i don't like the brown skin.It was just a simple invert of the SD screenshot,to give an example. And to make it even more clear,i love the interface(s)and therefore it was really not meant as criticism (and with the stellar soundquality and cheap price there is really NOTHING to complain).

It was just suggestions to make great products even better (imo) :-)

  • I'd prefer a lumpy gravy skin....for the app.

  • Now is released!!

  • Wow Holy Cow! Guitarism 12- string into Crystalline and I thought it sounded like "Under the Milky Way Tonight". I can't think an instrument that would not sound fantastic with Crystalline. IGrand, Galileo, Sunrizer(holy another cow!), IPolySix all sounded like awesomeness. Ran out of time, but wow, thanks @HoldernessMedia for such a great sound.

  • Got it - will try in earnest over the weekend.

Glad you guys are loving it. :D
I'm so happy Apple approved it quickly with no nonsense, it's a good day!

  • Fantastic effect, many thanks.

  • Just wondering is the $4.99 an introductory price, or the regular 'ol price?

  • At last! This is the only thing I've been really missing from my desktop setup and Guitar Rig 2. Crystalline is FANTASTIC. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And thank you.

  • Beautiful sounds; hope this works with the Ik Multimedia iRing for realtime parameter fiddling while playing electric...

  • I play guitar and already own AU fx space and Dub. How does Crystalline compare? Cheers, Joe

It's a bit like an apple, and say, an orange. ;)

There are some videos you might want check out, on page one of this thread.

  • Very nice sounding results, but it needs some kind of bpm sync control. Any plans to add such function on next updates?

  • Having so much fun with this: a subtle mix of Crystalline and Samvada (Audiobus parallel effects processing) then a touch of Master FX to finish ...sounds gorgeous on my electric Mandola ;-)

  • Hate to be a bother @HoldernessMedia. I would really appreciate if this was made universal. I love Echo Pad on my iphone and this would go well with it.

  • would this process audio input from the microphone jack? - i don't have a good guitar connector like Apogee, just a cheap Peavey one that hooks up via the mic jack...

I've been tweaking the delay slider to taste. Hope that helps.
