Moog Model D or any of the other apps that take their cues from it. Soften the attack, lengthen the release, add some effects to taste. Instant fretless. Maybe.

I do ambient bass with a fretless into an iPad for effects and recording.

Touché. Model D (Bass 145 Patch) is a great, cuts through a mix! Bass 808 (Upright patch, root C0) is nice. Mammoth is a great bass amp to add on. I assume you are looking for low end warmth.

Low end warmth. Yes! I have Model D but rarely find it appealing. I must listen again. It's interface aversion. 😊

😂 Interface aversion! Skeuomorphism is not for everyone. Agonizer is very good for low end. Zeeon is very warm. BASSalicious has a lot of low end patches.

It makes me think of Fundamental, which I have, and love.

Same idea. Fundamental is modelled after one of @Hainbach’s old test generators. AuGEN X has less character (perhaps? dunno) but the GUI is less fiddly and the app is much lighter ob the CPU.

I can imagine having room for both. I have some lovely presets for Fundamental, from Deehorn Organ.

Oh, cool. Where’d you get those?

@andowrites do you own spacecraft granular? One trick i use is to record anything stringy and then pitch it down using SC and then granularize very slowly.

Yes, I have SC. And love granular. Maybe I'll try exploring iFretless through granular. Thanks!

You never know! Use that attack softener too!

    Thanks!

    Thanks. I will explore.

This is a good shout, the lower registers of SC can get very bass droney

  • Magellan has even this cool spawn feature where your can spawn (randomize) new drones. The old version had an iAP drone pack and the new version is able to import it.

Zeeon is a good call too

Where would I get the Magellan drone pack from?

  • I think soundscaper has potential here.

I haven't tried Magellan yet, but I'm keen to explore it, after hearing a wonderful piece made on it with just two notes and one patch.
