Aha congrats @reasOne ! This is a weird one, but I bet you’ll find some creative uses for it!
Hi all @Gavinski fans, if you're able to, why not send a little cash via his PayPal link (details on all his YouTube vids) to help with these serious fees...👍
Sad to say.... but I bought PaSSBot last night and I can't believe that at this point (the dev's 3rd iOS ipad app) the interface is STILL cut off in landscape mode with no way to even scroll to see the rest of it. I use apeMatrix. I was lucky to score an iPad Mini 5 too, and this app's interface is nearly unusable in that smaller form factor. I would've expected it to at least fit on my 10.5in Pro screen. I'd keep it if it at least fit on the iPad 10.5in screen.
I love Fundamental and it fit will on my iPad 10.5in Pro shortly after release, but enough people complained that it was too small on their 12in iPads, so the dev changed the interface to accommodate those with large iPads while cutting off the interface on the 10.5in. I waited patiently for this to be fixed again, but it never was.
Yeah, I know some of you harp on about supporting devs and such, but at $12 I'm not going to simply settle for a chopped off interface. I gave this dev a chance on Fundamental and there was never another update to remedy what was chopped off after he "fixed" it for the larger iPads.
If he ONLY wants to accommodate the large iPads, he should say so in the app description and I wouldn't have wasted time on this.
Pitty, because I do like what he's doing with his apps. I just can't settle for terrible interface design. Asking for a refund.
Crap, you’re right. Works in AUM (after some annoying resizing), doesn’t in ApeMatrix. I’ll go yell at the developer.
@enkaytee ah, thanks for thinking of me, I’ll be grand, man, something like this makes you realise the relative unimportance of money. Still, yeah, wish I was in a country with good universal free healthcare.
@skiphunt, damn, that sucks. Can’t believe there are still such major sizing problems - i showed in my vid how it was unwieldy but possible to get full screen on 12.9. But yeah, needs to be useable on all devices. This is certain,y a problem and I guess the only way it will change is if people complain enough.at this point you have to wonder if it is somehow not possible for the dev to fix without abandoning Juce or redoing the way the desktop apps are designed? I have no idea, this is not something I know much about. Not good though...pity, as @oat_phipps says, these are really really great sounding filters, I’m a big fan of this app.
Hey - well, no harm in dropping a few hints...! Oh, and I've written to Sinan about the sizing - it's borderline on a 10.5 inch in AUM, but really bad in ApeMatrix...
Yeaaaaa!!!!!! Thank you gav!!!! Looks like I’ll be watching this video again now
Much appreciate it dude
I just made it look OK by flipping my iPad 9.7 on its side and double clicking it to full size, then stretching that down - not ideal but at least I can see the whole thing...
I gots to figure out how to check messages on YouTube LOL
I'm still angry that Fundamental was chopped off too. Then the dev updated and it fit perfectly. But, a few users on 12.9in ipads complained the controls were too small, so the dev accommodated them, updated again... and then it was chopped off again on the 10.5in.
It was never updated again after that.
These aren't on the low-end of cost. I'm not going to pay for them if they don't even fit on my freakin' screen, and I'm not going to buy a new/larger iPad just to see all of the interface. Life's too short to deal with this BS. I'd rather just refund and move on. Plenty of other great devs to support with my purchases.
Yeah, scaling needs to be fixed in Fundamental too.
Response from Sinan (the developer):
"PaSSBot automatically resizes its layout according the iPAD’s height on which it is running to use it fully.
It seems the ApeMatrix has an issue that it wastes the upper and lower band of its window and does not let float any window over it, the upper band blocks it and the lower end hides it, never seen anything like that before. For example AUM permits us float a plugin window on its layout fully. Maybe you should also contact ApeMatrix devs.
Anyway PaSSBot is what it is right now, maybe in future a scrolling window can be experimented with, which also does not exist on the desktop version."
So, it doesn't look like things are going to change in the near future....
Well... I guess it's a good thing I already pulled the trigger on a refund then.
Ouch, seems like the dev could be more responsive/helpful. I’ve been wanting to pull the trigger to buy, but I already have Fundamental and although great sounding it has a challenging interface as well. Mobile devices are different than desktop. Please fix the scaling on your apps!
Youtube should send you an email when someone replies to your message. But the system seems to be super unreliable. It's a right pain in the ass for me, as I waste time contacting ppl several times, having to find their message etc, but is not users fault generally
Shame, despite being highly sonically & aesthetically attractive, & the type of thing i’d usually go for in a second, the apparent ongoing P.I.T.A. sizing / interface issues have stalled me from buying either as yet.
@skiphunt I see others have already posted comments from Sinai but for good orders sake here’s mine:
“PaSSBot resizes itself automatically according to the height of the iPAD screen to benefit the maximum size. The scroll window feature will be seen in the future.
You are also welcome to contact ApeMatrix devs, as such restrictions can’t be the standard to set.”
Yeah, I read that. For $12 I want it to scale properly in apeMatrix like everything else I use does. I'd also like Fundamental to scale properly like it did before he fixed it for those with 12.9in ipads and thus chopped it off for anyone else with smaller than 12.9in.
I like his apps, but I have so many apps now that I'm not very tolerant of bad UI design. If I had the impression that it would be fixed, I'd be patient. However, from his responses now and in the past... I get the impression that the iPad builds of his app are unloved step-children to his desktop versions. And, that they are fairly niche and thus don't likely generate enough profit to make them worth fixing to work well on various devices.
That said, if it fit the screen in apeMatrix... I likely would have kept it.
I pretty much had this opinion from how he handled the formatting of Fundamental. I figured that maybe it was just because it was his first iPad app. Now, it's clear that he targets desktop users primarily, and if he can make a little extra off an iOS port without much extra development time, then he'll do it... whether it actually formats well on more than one iPad size or not.
All of that said... I was ALSO getting a lot of crashes where it completely killed audio where I had to restart to get it back. And yes, I tried setting the buffer to 128 has he suggests in his app description. Didn't help.
Crashing app that completely kills audio and only kinda works on one of my iPads and is really fiddly to control somewhat unresponsive sliders and dials... for $12? No thanks.
Fundamental and PASSbot display full screen perfectly in Audiobus!
So they do! Actually, both fit fine even on a little iPad mini 5 via Audiobus as well.
No crashing either. Hmmm...
Likewise, no crashing! I actually love Audiobus best for app full screen scaling. It’s also great for using midi effects.
