The sound module switch does not exist any more in either Rock or Soft Drummer, I do not know if this is by design. I have not tried the AudioBus workaround but I could find no way of getting MIDI in to either app. I could get them to respond to the song mode MIDI control events but nothing else.

Am I correct that Song Mode MIDI does not work if sent to the apps' virtual midi ports?

In the three apps that I tested yesterday (SoftDrummer, MidEast Drummer, Jazz Drummer), MIDI directed at the apps’ MIDI ports from AUM or Audiobus didn’t do anything. The same MIDI sent to Audiobus’ virtual out with Audiobus chosen as an input source with the apps worked (which was expected).

If someone is having luck directing MIDI to the apps virtual MIDI port directly from AUM, please share your secret.

Same experience here, these midi issues have been going on for way too long.

Great.. but don’t see the Double/Half Groove Button on the iPhone ver?

My greatest wish for LUM beat apps is the double/half time options to be more easily accessible. The biggest strength of LUM beat apps is that they are like being a conductor for a drummer. You get to perform in this way that few other drum machines let you. The double time half time features are essential performance tools. But it's hidden in a drop down menu that you can only access by pressing the "..." button, and then the menu disappears if you don't press it fast enough. This is a big bottle neck, and has ruined many live performances because I wasn't able to press the button in time.

That being said.... LUMBEAT IS KING OF ALL DRUM MACHINES

  • Additional thought: LUMbeat and Patterning should have a baby.

  • Never used the 1/2 feature before.. some crazy stuff..

Yep, don’t see it on the iPhone ver.

Missing ‘state saving’.. is it possible in IAA.. or just Auv3?

State saving is only possible for IAA apps if the app implements Audiobus state saving and the app is hosted in Audiobus. I don't think any Lumbeats apps support AB state saving.

You can use doubletime a dozen times over to turn any LUMbeat app into a blast beat metal beast.

Example here using Soft Drummer: https://ghostbombsurvival.bandcamp.com/track/blast-beat-baby-blues

Cool... Should be great for AfroLatin Drummer... Thanks..

I cannot get any of the IAP. I can listen to the demos but unable to purchase. I tap and nothing happens. Is it just me? iOS 14.4, tried deleting and reinstalling but same behavior.

The new SoftDrummer, FunkDrummer and Jazz Drummer updates fix the problem of the LUMBeats apps not listening to their MIDI In port. Hurray! You can now route MIDI directly from AUM to those apps.

Sending notes from AUM’s keyboard or a Mozaic patch that I’ve set up.

If I route the AUM keyboard, for example, to SoftDrummer Via AUM’s routing matrix, MIDI Note 55 (G3 in AUM) will start/stop softdrummer.

What are you sending to SoftDrummer that isn’t working? And did you install the SoftDrummer update from the last few days?

Make sure you are sending in the channel SoftDrummer is set to listen to.

  • @espiegel123 Thanks for the heads-up. I can trigger the start/stop MIDI now using direct routing but I still cannot seem to play the individual drums, this is the thing I have been unable to do some time now. Are you able to trigger the individual drums? There definitely used to be a sound module button under the song mode one in the top right and it seems to be when this went missing that I stopped being able to use any of the apps to play individual drums.

I think he removed the ability to send notes to the apps several versions ago when he removed the drum machine switch. As far as I know no one has received a response to inquiries about this.

@LuisMartinez : any chance that you will re-enable triggering the drum hits via MIDI?

It did seem like a conscious decision but I was hoping it was an oversight. The MIDI-in panel for the drums is still there which made me think this was a bug. It makes the MIDI export function less useful since some of the non-rock drummer sounds (brushes, for example) are not easy to source and so you would expect to be able to drive the app with the MIDI rather than use your own sounds,

  • Just received an update to Rock Drum Machine, vaguely stating “-Fixed Bugs”

Which bugs were fixed? Any of the ones pointed-out above or some other ones that none of us realized existed?

    Not very helpful, as usual.

Luis is like Apple. Great products I really want to love, but they make it so hard.

If I route the AUM keyboard or Mozaic to Softdrummer midi notes sent to SoftDrummer can trigger SD to play but no notes sent will trigger individual drum hits. I tried with general midi map selected, can you post a video of pictures showing your setup?

I’m sorry, I must be having a moment as I can’t get it to work either. Maybe jam mode was playing tricks on me...

MIDI has always been such a challenge with the Lumbeat apps.
