"MIDI FX pro" might be interesting: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/midi-fx-pro/id6444039855
This is a modular playground for MIDI and sequencing. You can do a lot with the modules and the app goes pretty deep. It can host AUv3, but unfortunately cannot run inside an AUv3 host. And I like the clean UI very much.

What’s the difference between the paid and free versions? AU hosting? I have the free version but haven’t dived in enough.

With the first two of the quadvca channels I can control the level of the single sequences and with the third I can transpose the mixed sequence. The select dials on the addrseqs shift the starting step of the single sequences.

    Nice! Of to experiment...

Have fun. Tuning the quantizer on the fly can be cool, with quantum it should also be possible to tune it via midiinput, but I haven't gotten that to work yet. If anybody has, I'd be very interested:)

I have no idea. I purchased the pro version for a reduced price when the app was released. Just wanted to support the development. On the website it says that the IAP / pro version allows you to run multiple copies, but not of what exactly.

The new Art Kerns app, MidiDreams has a very unique function where you can advance the sequencer by note input. Kind of like how physical gate / sync inputs work on hardware synths like the sh-101, microbrute, or SQ-1.

What other AUv3 sequencers are there with this function? does Patterning 3 allows for advancing on note in?

Is the Drambo sequencer module the same as mididreams ?

Arpbud and FuncBud have that ability (needs to be set up in their Settings tab)

Mididreams advance sequencer with note input.

    Unsure what it means

Unless it means gate can play a sequence via midi key input . Which you can with Drambo sequencer module.

It just means that instead of the sequence advancing by a fixed rate, say 8th notes, you can make it advance a step every time it receives a note. So when you send in the notes (from a midi controller for example, or AUM keyboard or whatever), each note you send in will trigger a sound and make the sequencer move on a step. But the actual note you send in will be ignored, only the timing will influence the sequencer.

Which you can do in dRambo using the CV sequencer or Gate+Velocity sequencer.

  • Thanks for the answers. I don't use Drambo too much, only the sequencer from time to time inside AUM.
I'll have a look at the other bud apps - I got snakebud today
I don't know why I thought Patterning 3 had this feature

  • Man I wish this was on iOS. Perfect for my brain https://hy-plugins.com/product/hy-mps3/

Looks good! The time division blocks create kind of the same "drunken" rhythm I'm after.
But I'm afraid it could look to crowded on an iPad?

Agreed, it even looks quite crowded on desktop but that comes with its power.
Most of it could be built inside Drambo, I would start by picking the most fun features from MPS3.

Yes this was my thought too. But I wonder if a good UI designer could make it work.
