Absolutely! Next week I‘ll take a look at theming and scripting, at least that‘s the plan. Considering the speed updates are coming, it might have to be a „new functions for LP Pro“ video
.
Fantastic video! Methodical, well explained, high production value. Thanks for this!
@blueveek any luck on the launchkey template for atom2? i just got my launchkey the other day and can’t wait to use it with atom 2.
What functions would you like to have? So that you can launch the clips from the pads same as on the launchpad? I'm thinking of a little project to showcase the scripting functions, that might be an idea. This might be a little bit much for beginners though. Hmmm.
yeah, it would be awesome for launchkey to recognize atom2 the same way launchpad does. with autocoloring and track creation in sync with atom 2. also scene launching on r/h side if that is possible
sorry launchkey mini
Should be possible yes, but of course some work. The Launchkey Mini & regular launchkeys share the same messages btw, so if you do one the others are easy.
I want to do a video on scripting next, if it's not too complicated I'll start with a simple launchkey integration that colors the pads and launches the clips for two rows. That should be doable in a reasonable amount of time.
cool, i have never been great at scripting. but hopefully i can pick it up
Is it likely that I'll be able to use a Launchpad Mini Mk 2 via scripting and have it receive light/colour messages? I don't mind putting it in the work (said without any concept of how much work it entails...)
Thank you for taking the time to make the videos also guys - very much appreciated!
I don’t see why not! I’m also happy to help. Also, @FloRi89 ’s possibly upcoming scripting video could make a good introduction to setting things up.
Thank you! And thanks @blueveek for Atom 2 - the possibilities it affords me are staggering
@blueveek So i set atom 2 to record and hit play in AUM transport. i have been recording notes into atom2 with my launchkey mini. and sending them to pure synth platinum. it
plays back the notes one bar, but then on the next bar, it shifts everything up a semitone, or it plays really high pitched notes, and/or freezes a midi note on and i have to close out of the synth. I though it was the synth, so i swapped it out and for another and it still does it. so now i’m thinking the controller and atom2 aren’t talking to each other correctly. is there something I should be changing in atoms settings?
Launchkey mini isn’t a supported controller yet (not sure what gave you that impression), so you need to do your own routing. From what you’re describing, there’s something incorrect with your routing.
yeah, i know it isn’t supported yet. It’s just a simple chain. i’m just merely using the launchkey mini as a midi keyboard routed straight into atom2, and atom 2 routed straight to psp2 or other AU synth app. all hosted in AUM. just thought since you said you purchased a launchkey mini, you may have had a similar issue. just curious. i’ll check my routing again. maybe I did something weird. thanks
Make sure that you aren't routing the Launchkey's non-midi port to something. That might send some CCs or notes that are throwing things off.
hmmm that is interesting. maybe that is conflicting somehow. thanks for the tip
In case it isn't clear, the Launchkey's other port (the one not labeled MIDI) is only intended for apps/scripts that know about the Launchkey's special modes/features.
aghh i was wondering what that other port was all about. thanks
Great app! Is there anyway to have the selected scale mode and key map to my Launchpad Mini MK3 when selected? That would be awesome.
I was having some weird behavior like this today as well, out of the blue. And I’m using a Launchpad Pro mk3. This was while using Note mode.
yeah same here while playing notes in
I think I figured out (what my problem was)
In AUM, you don’t have to connect the launchpad to anything. I was trying to connect the LP in the matrix like a regular midi controller.
Once I remembered what @blueveek stated in that first post in the “Atom 2 is available” thread, it all started working fine. The LP is automatically connected!
cool
i’ll try that thanks
I think I’m getting my head around this
@Intrepolicious
Yep - you've got it! Nice video.
Whilst watching I started writing a reply that said "did you know you can launch an entire row at once with the buttons on the right-hand side?"
....but then - as if by magic - you did exactly that
That's sweet!
Did you use custom track and slot overrides for the group of clips on the right? I'm asking because there's a limitation in 2.0.2 where custom track and slot settings will get overwritten by AUM on project load. I'll probably fix it in a future update, but just FYI.
Yes, the (supported) Launchpads will automagically connect to any Atom instances that you have open for note input.
This is totally different than what we’re used to doing, when routing a midi controller in AUM.
All you have to route, is the instance of Atom 2, to whichever synth or instrument you want it to play.
I hope that helps explain. Once I got my head around that part, things started working (and sounding!) a lot better!
Terrible audio quality though. For demonstration purposes only, I Recorded on my phone with the phone mic with one hand, tapping on the LP with the other lol
Oh, yeah, I knew about the launch rows. Just wanted to pick and choose just one or two at a time first, before launching the row. That’s the beauty of Launchpad right ? No rules?
Thank you!
No I don’t think so. If I did, I couldn’t tell you how I did it, but I just created those instances and separated them with blank slots in AUM. Thanks for the heads up though.
I gotta tell you I just LOVE working with ATOM 2 man! It’s just so fluid and pretty! I can’t wait to see what it evolves into with all the planned features and updates.
The app is truly a work of art. The way everything responds to touch, with just the right amount of jiggle here, and a little rubbery stretchy effect there. There was a lot of love put into just the UI, and it shows everywhere you touch! The little icons like the Magic Clipboard for example, with the little animated book flipping through the pages? O.....M... G.! ❤️❤️❤️
are you sending midi notes from Atom, to rock drum machine or is it running on its own.? i can’t seem to figure out the midi mapping for that one.
Oh, yeah, I couldn’t figure that out either. Yes, it’s running on its own here, just synced to AUM’s transport for the start.
This was actually a carry-over project from a session I had with Rock Drummer and iBassist in it. I liked the sound of the drums, so I decided to use it in this demonstration for a basic drum beat.
Seems like we used to be able to feed the Lumbeat drummers midi notes, and compose drum patterns that way, but I’m with you now; can’t get that to work! I’ll be looking into trying to do this. Please let me know if you find out how!
