4pockets midi mixer snapshots question
Hi!
Been reading from this forum for a while and this is my first post.
Is it possible to trigger snapshots on the midi mixer with a midi controller?
It seems the only thing available to map with midi in the midi mixer is preset loads in AUM.

Hi Dan, glad to see your post! Yes, this is the best part of MidiMixer in my opinion. I set up my snapshots in AUM and then trigger each one using a controller. It's tricky because of the way that 4Pockets set it up using Ch16 first 16 notes to trigger each snapshot. What kind of controller do you want to use?
Ok ok. Got it. Thank you for the reply.
So it runs on channel 16 and each note corresponds to each snapshot.
Their website is down right now and I couldn’t find the manual for the app anywhere.
I’m using a Morningstar mc8 on my pedalboard to change synth parameters in AUM.
Right, so if you can set your controller to send those notes on channel 16 you’ll be all set. If not, you will need a MIDI filter of some sort (I use MFX Convert or Mozaic). With Mozaic you could use a round Robin script to use a single button/key on your controller to sequential move through snapshots.
Also how possible is it to apply midi mixer to an existing AUM session?
Just add it as a MIDI channel and done. You then have to go back and make sure the MIDI channels line up with the MidiMixer channel sends (all CC7, but AUM sets that as a default) but it takes a grand total of maybe a minute? And AUM auto-configures each added track with sequential channels so you'll likely have most of it already ready to roll.
MidiMixer is the handiest tool that flies under the radar for folks who play live. Just fab.
It's quite a bit more than volume that are hooked up when starting a session with midi mixer: panning and solo/mute what have you so it's quite a bit of work to slap one in to a existing project, if you want all default functions that is.
Certainly true. Just depends on yr use case.
Been wanting to do this. So snapshots are on channel 16, but Have you discovered the notes that correspond to each of the 16 different snapshots?
Yes, the lowest 16 notes (starting from C-2).
Hey, all, I just got Midi Mixer (no idea what took so long), and I was curious as to how to do this, so thanks very much for posting this info! But a question: you say 16 different snapshots... where do 16 come from? I only see 8 snapshot buttons on the panel.
But I’ll take your word for it; looking forward to setting up my rig and trying this.
UPDATE: Please disregard my question; just found the answer!
Yeah, the long press on the camera is not the most intuitive!
Hello all, I'm having a problem. I have an Aum (midi mixer 8ch) session keyed up and mx convert set up (per lukesleepwalker's video, not using mozaic) and I am unable to change snapshots with any controller (including the aum built-in one). I'm sure there is user error somewhere on my part but was wondering if anyone could help me out, thanks!
Here are some screenshots of my setup, let me know if you see any issues

@gumBeau If you go into MIDI settings, do you have Remote Control turned on?
I did not, actually just saw that, unfortunately, still nothing
@lukesleepwalker Alright my issue may be in the C-2 aspect, I’m only able to see as far as C -1 on AUM keyboard. I know I’m missing something here
You only have one note in your conversion so it only stays on scene 1 right? Set a note to convert to c#-2 to activate scene 2. D-2 for scene 3 etc
@lukesleepwalker Ok got that, thanks! Now how do I activate the scenes on the keyboard? It seems I can only go as far as c-1 on the keyboard (AUM)?
Never mind, got it! Thanks sooooo much this was driving me crazy, haha! You’re the best!
@lukesleepwalker So my main goal is to utilize this with a line 6 fbv3 foot pedal. What would I designate the 8 switches to in the editor? Or could I do this all in mfxconvert without using the line 6 editing software?
Great! Glad you got it working. I’m not familiar with that foot pedal. Your best bet is to hook it up and then have MFX convert “learn” the incoming note or CC and then map to the low notes on Ch16. Just tap the learn button on the left and tap the button on the foot pedal.
Dude, yes yes and yes! Got it! Amazing, been wanting this functionality for years!!!
Thanks again for your help! Have a great night!
Right on, glad it worked out.
Hi guys, I’m new to this site.
I came across it while looking for an answer to my doubts that seem to be common.
I have just bought MidiMixer and I am trying to map the snapshot buttons to my midi controller (Arturia Minilab mk ii), unfortunately, unsuccessfully.
I read what you wrote above, but I am not very knowledgeable on the subject. Please, correct me if I am wrong.
I understood that I can map those buttons only on channel 16 midi signals. So let’s say I want to map a snapshot to the pad 1, like in the picture, should I have to define the pad like that? Any suggestion?
Thank you a lot.

Hey there, welcome! The main challenge you have is that MidiMixer is listening for the first 16 notes on Channel 16--not a CC number. So to make that work you'd need to convert the MIDI CC into the correct note sending on Ch 16.
On AUM/MidiMixer, I enabled remote midi control, then I clicked on the midi control button and I got this.

Then for the midi controller settings I tried something like that

Finally I hit the s01 button and then the pad 1, but still nothing..
Could the midi routing be wrong?
@mv88keys You have an erroneous understanding of how MidiMixer works. It only triggers snapshots through very specific MIDI notes. Have you watched any of the tutorial videos from 4Pockets or Gavinski?
Finally, see my video linked above.
