I would like 32 pads per drum hit and numerous abilities to add more hits such as kick, hat, snare ect. I just want the ability to write a drum loop and the ability to export a drum loop in .wav format and the ability to import my own sounds
I'm trying to understand the differences between aum and audiobus. is audiobus a replacement for aum?
More likely the opposite. Audiobus is somewhat easier to use, and it provides "enhanced IAA" for apps that offer Audiobus support. It communicates MIDI and audio with them more cleanly, and can save their state as part of an Audiobus preset. It also handles Audio Units gracefully, and routes MIDI sources to selected apps. I use Audiobus every day. I prefer its straightforward presentation of an Audio Unit GUI, and its ingenious slide-over side controller in an IAA.
AUM is more specifically an Audio Unit Mixer. It lets you create busses for combined effects, or to route a single source through parallel effects. It supports Audio Units with multi-in and multi-out capability. It can also connect to IAA apps, but lacks the special Audiobus features.
They differ in various technical ways (Ableton Link), so you'll find people using both in tandem, with a DAW.
