All you need is the D

Yup, especially now with analog filters.

Edit: or are they still only in beta?

Still in beta, I’m really stoked for that update though. I can’t wait to try them out with how incredible everything else sounds.

It’s extremely light on resources, so you can even use it as a “sub oscillator”.

Here are some AUM presets I made:

Thanks a lot. How does one get these presets into AUM?

With the “Files” app, click on the downloaded file and it will be unzipped automatically.
Then copy the “444250316B69636B61756D75” folder into the AUM “Audio Unit Presets” folder.

    Done

    Thanks!

Wish Cyclop wasn’t so pricey. How does it compare to something like Troublemaker @Philandering_Bastard @RajahP ?

Thanks @jolico for your shared preset, very kind :)

Troublemaker does one thing and does it very well. Cyclop has two oscillators for starters, each one can be super saw, sync, FM, PD or sample based. They then can be run into two filters with 12 filter models each. You also get a step sequencer, insane modulation plus an effects sequencer, Effectrix-style. It’s also on sale, still not cheap tho.

  • @Poppadocrock never thought about adding an amp sim into the equation, intrigued about that - thanks

    @caminante @Stuntman_mike
Yet more synths to investigate- cheers, this bass hunt is gonna clean me out!

Thanks man that’s certainly helpful - much more to Cyclop than I’d realised

Sugar Bytes is having an across the board sale at the moment. Carped the deum and I've been reunited with Obscurium on the mac ... weird and wonderful. 30% off on everything from memory.

I spend a lot of time making smooth soft siney double bass sounds for myself ... but lots of looking and listening to bass timbres - and I've encountered some seriously grim, biting and annoying bass noises on the acid synths - Poison 202, Pure Acid and the like ... sounds perfect.

  • +1 for BASSalicious

Rumor has it that a certain techno-hominid of the Pacific Northwest has been known to dabble in Pure Acid.

  • One thing about bass is no matter what I use (mostly just obsidian) I have to make sure I’m opening up frequencies with the rest of the stuff going on around it so that the bass patch is most effective. A lot of times a bass sound doesn’t “hit” because all its frequencies it needs to “pop” are eaten up elsewhere.

Truth! ...and Mammoth is good for creating precision bass.

  • I just bought Cyclop, love it! Another great Bass app in my arsenal.

This is so so so true.

  • Model D than freeze the track or make samples. No more cpu problems.

  • I really struggle to get bass sounds I like out of both Cyclop and Agonizer, though this is probably as much to do with my incompetence at creating the sound I want as the apps themselves. I love Zeeon for creating from scratch, and picked up a great tip on here recently which was adding Bass Leveller to a 303 - a little playing around and I ended up with a bass sound I’d never managed to create before that’s was perfect for the track.

Shockwave looks tasty. Anyone able to comment on how its CPU overhead compare to Model D’s?

In my experience, it’s lower than Model D but definitely higher than average.
