Definitely not what is expected of me either (for almost 57). Hate the politics of the southern states of the US, but live here. I just avoid the subject like the plague.
I’ve also been really lucky with health and injuries - will be testing for my mixed martial arts black belt in the fall, and also pursuing belt promotions in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Just hoping that nothing breaks or falls off in the next few years.
@puppychumful Great list of people (except for Isaac Asimov if you meant him as a writer)!
Hi qryss, I'd have a really tough time singularly categorizing Isaac Asimov, except to say that if there were a lot more like him in positions of importance, the world would not be so f*cked up!
Hume said something to the effect that power is in the hands of the governed, yet they submit themselves, because all one need do is control mass opinion. Of course (as Chomsky mentions) Hume was a Tory and thus was in favor of controlling mass opinion.
Alas, I don't suppose this website does anything much to promote independent thought given it's based on consumerism and oligarchic capitalism via the techno-feudalism of Apple et al.
I'll return now to my cute, innocent, puppy persona so I do not rattle our cages too loudly.
What?! Lol, I’m quittin’!

It does exist in some sense, and in fact I own one, it's called the Poly Effects Beebo, see here https://www.polyeffects.com/

Only available here (US). Sold out in other US outlets. Best grab it, looks incredible.
I too fell that I am happier with iOS than most. Maybe it’s having worked in IT my whole life that as made me more tolerant of little bugs here and there.
Also I think that limitations a good for creativity. Am I my most creative in Caustic 3. When I started writing with synth after coming from being a metal guitar player, it really overwhelmed me so many sounds possibility.
I'm 48 going on 49 years old.
Yo dude.
Londoner here.
Sauf London actually.
Born and bred.
As soon as I walked into this thread I saw your comment.
I felt compelled to say something.
If you were to see my FB you'd grin.
I try not to get involved in politics here on the AB Forum at all.
I leave that for FB but your comment made me smile.
I've been on almost every Anti-Brexit March held in London since the Referendum.
Videoed the big one in March of 2019 which I'm
going to edit and upload this Summer fingers crossed.
I also put my name on the petition that gained 1.7 million signatures.
I was also one of the ones that handed out the E.U Flags for the Proms.
I'm notoriously Anti-Tory.
I'm about Equality.
Yup.
Been "Woke" all my life.
✊🏽❤️
So... about 40% over 50.
I would say to my 95 yr old Ma... “Mom, so and so died... He was 82.” My mom would reply... “Young!”
+1 to that!
Is it my Catholic guilt that makes me read this thread title like an admonishment?
It seems like everyone, young or old, thought they were among the older ones here I wonder if it's preconceptions or there is something in the tone of voice used here that deceived all of us (yes, me included)
Cool, same. Grew up in woolwich/abbey wood.
Worked at lewisham hospital, played at lewisham theatre, got my first synth from gigsounds.
But now I live in a small village in West Yorkshire.
Proud to be woke, take care all -)))
Woolwich/Abbeywood sides???
Back in the day, those sides had rep and not for socialism.
Big Respect dude.
I'm Lewisham born and bred, still here.
Gigsounds is now called Eric Lindsey after Eric Lindsey bought the place.
Yorkshire? Very cool.
Nice area, good people.
Take care everyone.
Techno-feudalism is close to the antithesis of a buzzword (or phrase to be more correct in this case) plus it sums up the FAANG stocks very well. Oligarchic capitalism is simply a matter of fact given Apple's multi-trillion dollar market capitalization combined with its anti-competitive, non-taxpaying business model. What's most important however is having a ready supply of homemade dog treats.

That is a bold statement.
Hi AudioGus,
In response, I must ask:
Has there ever been an organization in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organized human life on Earth, than those that get together to make ready supplies of homemade dog treats? https://www.ecowatch.com/chomsky-goodman-climate-change-2426716028.html
@AudioGus ... thanks for the opportunity to use sardonic in a sentence😉> @AudioGus said:
@puppychumful - @AudioGus post was a joke. A damn funny one too.
You'll get it some time later when you're walking down the street thinking about something else.
52 , first time poster, longer time lurker. Probably won’t need to speak again for a while. I really appreciate this forum and its wisdom. Another great tribe to join…

This week (it arrived last Friday, I’ve set it up over the weekend so that I can vpn in to work jira using it) I have been often using this:
If you’re as old as me, you’ll understand why I’m so thoroughly enthused by it, and you’ll get it when I say that it is a completely different experience to using a ‘normal’ Pi4, not because they’re electrically or operationally much different, but because there’s a huge emotional difference between using this and using a dangling circuit board in a small box.
